DCS disable / skip the new Launcher | Digital Combat Simulator guide

- The new DCS update has added the new launcher, which loads up first, loads up slow, it doesnt add much beyond using up cpu and memory and giving you access to some features and modules which are ...ok.. but are all available via the main dcs menu or the DCS website. Bypass, skip and override the launcher, disable it so it does not use your cpu and ram and waste your time having to click for a second time!
Do you know how to get the launcher back once this option has been checked?

There’s 3 ways of skipping it directly:
1. My app.
2. add “-no-launcher” to the dcs.exe arguments in the shortcut
3. in the options.lua under miscellaneous add/edit:
[“launcher”] = false,
Immediately did this when I noticed that button :)
Launcher is a for sure a marketing thing.
Turned it off the second I found out it was optional.
Launcher is great. Can adjust graphics settings or enable/disable or uninstall/download maps or modules without waiting for DCS to start up.
Yup for that it's gold, need ability to manage mods

It's a very "DCS" thing. They said "this would look and be super cool for new players." Everyone else is already fucking annoyed.
Some folks are seeing benefits like being able to switch between vr and non vr mod before starting
@@plazma1945Yes, sounds good but the latest update has messed up DCS, problems while logging, all module purchases disabled, quest 2 controllers bricked. It is a great idea to manually launch and disable the auto launcher

nope you gotta click again.. its just a front end interface addition to get you to SEE and buy more modules etc ;)
I haven't been able to play multi-player since this update. Crashes just before the bar hits 100%. Plus the aircraft carriers and all other boats disappeared from my game. WTH?

Is the new update screwing yall performance?
after the new update i noticed my 30 of 32gb ram is spent on DCS which is odd and it shown that DCS only using 13-14GB of ram but in performance tab on Task manager, all my ram is mostly spent like what?
I had the same thing. Task Manager said DCS RAM usage was 8GB but my total RAM usage was 80% of 64GB.
I noticed in virtual desktop that with this new update I’m at a constant 25ms game delay. No matter what I do it’s 25ms. I suspect it’s the launcher
I can’t even find the launcher. I updated, clicked the old MT shortcut, and got an error. I’m running a repair now… hopefully that’ll help.
Lemme know how it works out if the update was good at next startup the launcher should. Come up
@@plazma1945 yup! It needed a full repair. All is good now. Definitely doing as you said and turning off the launcher!

How do i see if multithreading is working because i feel like the new launcher doesnt have MT
Press ctrl alt del go to performance Nad right click on cpu graph and choose show logical processors if only one or two are busy it's single thread if it's five six it's multi

I think the new launcher is crap. Takes twice as long to actually get to log in screen in VR
Agree 100% what the hell were they thinking about.
My Launcher frooze everytime I tried to launch DCS so couldnt get in DCS at all nor turn it off via the button.
In the dcs.log there was errors reffering to the launcher.
The resolution was to open options.lua in Saved Games folder and scroll down to misc, there you'll find launcher. And change value to false. And all good, back to normal. 🎉
What on heavens name has dcs world done with the server maps, you have to choose red or blue, now every server you try to join has so few aircraft, like only two F4s on the ground, this upgrade is absolutely terrible, and only a couple of airfields to choose from, as well, right now I’m considering leaving dcs for war thunder hopefully war thunder won’t be ruined like dcs,
Hello Fellow Pilots, just got a .bat file from DCS to revert that last update to its previous version. I will post a link for those that are having problems with your system due to the latest update.
Now, when you say revert are you saying to downgrade to previous version? Officially from. Eagle dynamics they are saying to downgrade backward?
@@plazma1945 I would not call it a downgrade. Lets just say that the file provided by ED reinstalls the previous version of the game just previous to the latest update. The purpose of the file is to rollback in case one has to many issues with the latest update until ED creates either a patch or a new update and it is a good choice in case there is no immediate answer or solution to the problems created by the latest update. I have checked and some people have solved their issues and others do not have time to spend hours moving files or researching for solutions.
@@jorgemarquez5126 gotcha basically you're going back to previous patch level. I've had to do that before. Sorry it didn't work for you what was the failure occurring in, The vr?
@@plazma1945 First, DCS would not start, it stayed in a loop. After fixing that it didn’t load all the modules that I have purchased, then it was error 500 which forces me to change Date/Time format in Windows then it didnt load FC3 Planes which I also solved and finally Quest 2 Controllers doesn’t work in the menu and inside every plane I tested. It seems that I got all the basics people are complaining from 😂

Not seeing more than 1% CPU usage and zero stutter here.
Launcher is still extra steps though so it can bugger off.
But some folks who for example switch between vr and non vr mode are benefiting. If the mod enable disable can be added this will be super useful.
But yes extra steps are like.. Meh.. But good that we can bypass

It's has one good thing you can add or remove modules before entering dcs
