A comprehensive overview of the features and controls of the MakeNoise Phonogene and a few example patches built from one quick initial piano sample. Originally posted 8/8/2011
Your videos have been extremely helpful for getting a deeper understanding of modules which have resulted in some great additions to my set up. Also they are usually the first reference I check out again when they arrive. Phonogene just arrived today so I put this on as soon as I got it racked up. Guaranteed to reduce headaches and get to having fun much sooner than if on my own.
The best thing about the new Morphagene, is that I traded my Wogglebug mk2 for a Phonogene, straight up. There are great deals on Phonogenes these days, mainly because of the Morphagene. So now I have Clouds, uClouds and Phonogene, granular heaven. Good things come to those who wait.
Is it possible to plug into to input any audio signal such from your phone or tablet? Would be really interesting to just record any audio signal such as from field recordings and so on? And does it take other cables other than mini jack mono? Thanks for the vid!
Watching this again tonight to re-learn the module. Forgot about some stuff like the gene clock and built in VCA. So rad. Thanks again for your videos man!
Great upload, thanks can i use this standalone? buy a little doepfer case and have the out of the phonogene into my audio interface? ideally i would like to just have the phonogene and echophon modules. Possible?
Yes, absolutely, that would be a great pair. I do think you get even more hands on control with one or two Pressure Points and a Brains controller for them. The sequencer and touch plates end up being very tactile and useful.
there are so many FFT options and wavelet options in Supercollider Im kind of perplexed why a company doesn't just put all that in a box like this and have a little menu option to switch to different effects. It would be really easy for a tech person t o do that. And it would blow away this Phonogene
I don't know If I've ever seen someone explain things so well.

What is the difference between the Phone- and the Morphagene..more advanced?
Fantastic walkthrough of both the Phonogene and your patch! Thanks and keep up the great work!
Your videos are great! Keep it up. Informational, and helpful, and the music is actually listenable. lol.
Hopefully Phonogene 201 is coming soon!
Thanks! Helped me understand the capabilities of this module. And loved that end jam.
What ever happened to part two?
Always great! Just watching this to refresh my Phonogene knowledge. About to start using it again.
Thank you for sharing your this. I will have a make noise system within 2 weeks. This is very helpful to me as well as more to look forward to.
Awesome tutorial! The outro jam felt strangely familiar... Am I the only one hearing Baba O'riley in there? ^^
James, I think you should do an update 101/201 combined course for the Morphagene. I know you have one already! :)

Do you know if it works with guitar level signal? Thank you.
Excellent and instructive demo, thanks! Did you change the control knobs or is this a different version of the Phonogene?
Monomorpho,✌️, the original, liaisons included. Wonderful stuff.
Nice to see this on the tube. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Very helpful, thank you -- it looks like I will be needing one of these after all 8-/
Looking forward to 201 (301, etc).
Nice!
Just wondering if the doepfer a-118 is good to modulate the phonogene?

If i had a trigger in the play input to playback the audio
like traditional sampler,
could i chop while still playing it back?
Great video! When do we get to see Phonogene 201?
great video did you ever do the Phonogene 201
I still can’t figure out exactly what these are for? Is the whole point just to generate and manipulate random noises?
Yes

where do i get one please
any stores (online or IRL) that stock MakeNoise modules should have it, or be able to get it for you.
Thanks!!!
