Ken Kaplan, your enthusiasm for your adult son is awesome. You treat him as if he was 12 in Little League. You are his greatest cheerleader, esp., when most dads of adult children don't even go to these events. Great dynamic, I love it. Love your energy, enthusiasm and vibe. Can't wait to donate again.
Yo, Jr. is a total stud getting a top 5 on that track, in that class, on the old girl, I bet his arms felt like they were gonna explode on that last lap!!! Much respect
kenjr hahaha, that’s funny! That should inspire you as you were limited by your stamina only, as you know the bike had plenty more to give. Good luck, well done and looking forward to see you at the pointy end in the future.
Almost took that holeshot...Jr. looks smooth, he’s got the goods, gonna be awesome watching his progression this season! Been glued to the content 10/10 🇺🇸👊🏽✊🏽💨💨
Ken jr is lucky to have a pop like you. i rode Cr 500s back in the day. 84, 88, 89, 90. Get Kenny jr riding a pedal bike doing hill climb repeats a few times a week. His cardio will on point in a couple weeks. Love you guys keep the videos coming.
Very nice job! Riding with a huge disadvantage with those old suspensions and still hang onto it is quite a feat. You and Jr should really build one of the new 500 2 stroke super bikes that I'm seeing guys do transplanting that engine onto a new modern chassis and suspension. What an ass kicker that would be.
My arms are sore and legs cramping just watching him!! He will get faster when he learns the bike more.. Hell he's fast now!! What an awesome track! Streamed this video to my 65" OLED Looks amazing! PROUD DAD MOMENT!
How much better does an AF handle compared to Jr's modified 89 ??? I'd love to know the answer to this ! I know that the AF would feel slimmer with better ergo's and such. Those Ohlins forks and shocks are the bomb, but how do they compare to the stock AF ?
I know from experience that If a track looks ruff on film then it’s twice as ruff in reality. My local track is Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville Tennessee. ( they had a few outdoor nationals there a couple of years ago ) By just looking at the Muddy Creek track it the looks real smooth until you get out there and start riding it then that’s when you realize...”looks are totally deceiving”. So coming from a guy that really “knows the score”those guys are riding very well to maintain the speeds they are going . So total respect from me for all the riders out there.
Being from so cal and used to ride primarily in the desert and some mountain stuff, that track looks deceivingly Brutal !! Nice rides Kenny ! And Ken, I think you need to put the cape on and got have a chat with the officials lol
I know junior loves the 2 strokes as do I but I wonder as good as he runs at the beginning if he wouldn't be winning those races on a 450 that wouldn't wear him so Much, I mean the big 500 in vibration alone will wear u out quickly not counting arm pump so much quicker and the way the power comes on u never can really relax in the straights only when ur in the air on the 500. I love watching Jr race these 500s but I do bet he would win on a 2021 KTM or Honda 450
Jr definitely held his ground out there , well fought and well ridden, especially under those gruesome track condtions on a 2 stroke CR500 I respect that stamina and strength . I dont think people realise how hard it is to ride a 2 stroke with the arm pump ,the only way to relieve oneself of arm pump is to squeeze ones knees together and hold that position with applied pressure which in itself is a Job with the bike swaying side to side so imagine doing it on a heavy CR 500 , that is NO JOKE !! well done Jr !!
@@KaplanCycles when i raced with kdx the lever was so stiff so i put few rubber bands on inside to help me because without them i only made it 5-6 laps before my hand cramped snd take it out on bottom end lol but this shits awsome i love watching yall my buddy was there on 2021 yz450 today too
Good job Kenny and Dad. lol get him practicing more by racing events as much as he can anywhere you can get to. If hes in top 5 amatures shows promise.

Hell yes, what an awesome start for the season for JR. Keep that CR eating.
Excellent!! Jr, from a fellow 89CR500RF rider, on that power & energy sapper of a track.😀👍👍👍Cheers for sharing KK

The ohlins are WAY better than stock 2020 crf450 suspension. The AF handles better
