This conversation makes you realize how some actors are very serious about whatever role they are playing. Tom Cruise talking to Ron Kovic and spending time with him, shows how serious he is about his craft.
Somehow Tom was able to look like a teenager again at that time. In Rain Man he was looking older and then when he did ''Born on the fourth of July'' he looked 18.
Amazing that this interview was done before a single frame of this great movie was shot, because what they would end up turning out was a triumph, Tom totally deserved the Oscar for best actor , Ron spilled his guts out and Oliver put his whole heart into this beautiful film.
This whole interview is so heartwarming, Tom Cruise is a fairly big star, yet he forms a close connection with Ron Kovic, you get the feeling there a strong connection between them that is not solely based on the movies.
I don't care what 'people' say,I Love tom C. He's an Exceptionally normal and innately intelligent guy. I was an actor too,and he's (become) Brilliant! x M

Among famous people only Brad Pitt during 90s. Among people who are not famous I believe few thousands of men worldwide. I have personally seen in Montenegro few men more handsome than Tom or at the same level.
The only one I can think of is Elvis Presley but he was of another generation...No other country is as good as the US in recognizing talent and giving it the chance to flourish.
I was there at the set in Dallas. I went to the school in Dallas that was used for the set of the high school. My nephew looks a lot like Tom Cruise. And My wife got to speak to Oliver Stone when looking for items for the movie set. Tom is a fantastic actor. He reminds me so much of my nephew Johnny Bob. Peace all.
Absolutely one of my favorite movies. My father went to Vietnam and he struggled with many things after the war. I've seen first hand what many veterans went through . Alcoholism, drug abuse, nightmares the veterans administration flash backs. Many veterans suffered so much after coming home. Tom Cruise did a outstanding job representing veterans in this film.
Semper Fi! I served in the Marine Corps and Army for 10 years collectively as a military policeman. 4 in the Corps and 6 in the Army. I’m a disabled OEF veteran. I so much appreciate Ron’s story because it is the quintessential Marine Corps Vietnam veteran story of the Vietnam War. Thank you Tom and Oliver for taking the time to make this movie and shedding light on the imperfections in our country and our government. God bless you and I still watch the film from time to time and the VA is still a pain in the ass for veterans.

I really enjoyed this interview. Thank you for posting. I found this informative and fascinating and not to mention impressive. What an eye-opener on the process of making a movie. It’s admirable to see how hard all of these people work. It’s also so very sad to see how our world gets carried away with the news and creating stories because watching Tom here he just seems like a good kid who was laser focused and extremely passionate about making movies and he takes it seriously and he gives his all and I just don’t get it…. why people say the things that they say and why people believe it?? I think people are very naïve and ignorant and it’s unfortunate
Or maybe it's not stupid for you but he's a very attractive guy and so women love him that aren't lesbians and men want to be him because then they can get all the women it's that simple I'm not trying to patronise you but you're also asking a very stupid question
I'm not into multicolored rainbow carrying transgender women but even if I see one that's very beautiful I can even say wow she looks beautiful you know what I mean it's not that hard to see. I think you just being a difficult ass just to be one when you know exactly why anyway good luck with that lifestyle a stroke and heart attack will probably quickly follow with that kind of attitude but eustress should let go of that kind of attitude and just stop being an ass just to be one

I loved Tom Cruise back then. He was a little different before he became a super star. He too was born on the 4th or perhaps the 3rd. Oliver Stone picked him, because he thought he could identify with Ron, some of the same backgrounds etc.

It's about the look you have in your eyes. Naive look = looks younger. Cynical and jaded look = looks older. Actors can change this
It was the hair and suit in rain man that made him seem older. It’s also why Brad Pitt looked older in meet Joe black (1998) than in fight club (1999)

What an incredible film. Tom Cruise's best work as an actor in my opinion.

It's the inside that counts tom is beautiful from the inside
His face hasn't changed
1988 somewhere between july and october is the date of this press conference
Superb heartbreaking film. Great press conference. Love how close Ron and Tom have obviously become! Tom is so deep and darling.
I once saw an interview of Tom saying he’s the one who started and invented the idea of film premiers and press conferences, now I believe him.
That's rubbish. Just Google Marilyn Monroe film premiere or press conference and you will see
Foreign premieres you mean
Foreign premieres, Tom said, as mobile junkets to different countries, you mean, he did indeed pioneer that development in the late eighties.
He's 28 here but could easily pass as a 21 year old wtf
me too... baby face genes...
Technically I think he's 27 here
27 actually
I legit thought he was 20 or something lmao
@@janolaivar: 26 actually. This was 1988 before any filming was done. Tom was born July 3rd, 1962.The movie( superb ) came out December ,1989.😊
Tom was SO HOT!!!
Tom was breaking up with Mimi Rogers and I believe falling in love with Nicole Kidman during late 1989. Very handsome guy and great actor.
Mimi is the evil witch who turned him onto Scientology

Amazing performance by Tom Cruise - he should have won the OSCAR
This was great. Thank you
La mejor actuación de Tom Cruise, le robaron el Oscar... His best performance.
Daniel Day Lewis usurped the trophy from him
Completamente de acuerdo le robaron el Oscar fue una actuación qué me dejo estupefacto y solo tenia 12 años cuando la vi.

Yes. They started shooting a few days after this press conference.
