Have always loved this group. Canned Heat is a great blues & rock band that was formed in 1965. Their two biggest hits were "On The Road Again" in 1967 & "Going Up The Country" in 1968. Also love their song from 1970 "Let's Work Together".
The song was "adapted from 'Bull Doze Blues,' recorded in 1928 by Texas bluesman Henry Thomas," according to the wiki. I love original grandaddy blues. Thanks for your work here, Mr. Mug. Be well.
They were great admirers of certain rural Delta blues performers, some of whom sang with a high keening voice 😊
The song is "based" on Henry Thomas' blues classic, "Bulldoze Blues." Alan Wilson's vocals were very much modeled on Thomas' voice.
Blind Owl Wilson helped Son House remember his music. He'd forgotten it, since he had been out of the music business for a long time. Incredible guitarist
One of my all time favorite songs is canned heat "poor moon" 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Check out their Woodstock set. Bob the flute player also sings.
Group named after a song by legendary blues singer Tommy Johnson "Canned Heat Blues".
Happy, Happy Birthday Mug!!! ❤
Great road trip song!!!
This is my favorite motorcycle traveling song! This is a Woodstock song!
Most of their chart hits have been played on tv and advertising commercials, so I would be surprised if you haven't heard some of their songs and just didn't recognize them being from this group.
Brings back memories of "The Woodstock Festival"(1969)
If you'd like to listen to one of the greatest blues/rock guitarists ever, try taking a listen to the legendary Rory Gallagher. Rory was a multi-instrumentalist from Ireland who is counted as one of the top guitarists and his fans include Slash, Brian May of Queen, Alex Lifeson of Rush, and many others. If you want electrified blues, try taking a listen to the 1984 Belfast version of "I Wonder Who?" He could also rock with the best of them. "Shin Kicker" from 1979 Montreux performance and "Do You Read Me?" from the 1979 Rock Goes to College are samples of his high energy rock. Please take a listen and introduce a whole new generation to the music of this talented performer. Thanks!
YOU WILL LOVE THEIR VERSION OF. LETS WORK TOGETHER WHICH WAS ORIGINALLY CALLED LETS STICK TOGETHER WHICH BRIAN FERRY DID A BANGER WUTH
I notice your shirt you are wearing>. The infinite loop of of life and all the the divine equations. Music vibration is healing and whole. peace to you
Got bluegrass influence for sure - I remember my parents had canned heat album in their collection
His voice always gives me Kermit the Frog vibes. Great song as the 60's and 70's were some of the best music.
So, Blind Owl, was the original leader. He was also Autistic and a musical genius.
This seems to be lip sync, I believe when the flutist puled the instrument away from his mouth and the flute still played. Thanks Muggs. "Going Up The River, got to get away, going where the water tastes like wine, jump in the water stay drunk all the time".
People need to dig into Alan Wilson's early bio and the Canned Heat catolog. incredible to say the least 🌞🛶🍊🌲
His work with Son House is wonderful
Looks to me like they're lipsynching to the studio recording. I don't notice any microphones. This song is a classic 8-bar blues .
Blind “Owl” Wilson sings in a falsetto voice. I think.
Love the Bear met him in Welland Ontario Niagara College Pub Nite smoked thaistick sticky icky black hash thanx 4 the memories much respect 😊
Most 60s music performances were pantomiming to studio recordings. They didn't know how, or have proper mics, to record rock bands in TV studios, yet. The flute player reminds me of Keith Moon gently tapping cymbals on old 60s Who films. You can tell they hate pantomiming the tunes.
This is a nature song an ode to natural living. I think that was some kind of odd homage to indigenous people
Try "Let's work together"by canned heat , you will enjoy 😎 thanks,a song about unity 👍
The way he sings is called falsetto.
Because most of these great songs and artists were during the rock era we group them all into the rock and roll! Rock and roll donates great music with talented artists and that covers folk southern rock Acid Rock etc etc etc react to one of the first metal acid rock bands Iron Butterfly performing In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida AKA in the Garden of Eden live!
As evidenced by the Flute Player, the band was lip-synching to the studio version, but it's all good, and fun. This song is in the first ten minutes of the movie "Woodstock", with one of the best people watching segments in the movie. A nice part of their set is included in the Director's Cut version of "Woodstock", but not the original theatrical version.

Take a listen to Henry Thomas' Bull Doze Blues from 1927 to see where this tune came from.
Dont forget "Canned Heat Boogie" , got radio play.

Ah 1970 the year I graduated High
School
Kermit the Frog soundalike.
the look - re thumbnail ...🙄 ... 🤣
His vocals are as dry as ever but he made it work.
TRY SOME, HOT TUNA. EARLY 70s AND THEY ARE STILL PLAYING. OR MAYBEE SOME FRANKIE MILLER. OR EDDIE MONEY. THERE ARE SOOO MANY THAT NOOO ONE PLAYS. SOOO MAYBEE SOMETIMES YOU COULD EXPAND A LITTLE. WOULDN'T HURT.
The drugs were off the charts.
Mono tone looks scared
these guys were totally lip-syncing. I remember seeing Jefferson Airplane on one of these Tv shows and the bass player had his guitar cable wrapped around the guitar neck. It looked like they were protesting having to fake it, maybe for the TV audio sound tech.
Vocal delivery is the blues. The whole song is blues. Not folk.
Bad take
“Get off” by “foxy”.
