PTFE Teflon Tape is not the correct product for fuel line thread. Diesel will eat it and it can get in your fuel. The Yellow Gas version is for NG/LP gas not liquid fuel rated, so don't use that either. Use Permatex which comes in a variety of types for anything that act like a solvent or fuel. Otherwise yes, and I use quick connects on hoses and valves to kill each side of my filters, pumps, X & Y connectors for duel and aux tanks to flip'em out without fuel, or other dumping all over. Good suggestion. $20 filter or $1500 injectors, yea, no brainer.Recommend change them regularly, cut them open and see what's up on every change. . .
Great info. Thanks!!
Honestly that’s just cheap insurance
Yeah, that's my thinking too.
Guess that’ll be one of the next modifications to do on my ‘99 F-350. That and also a coolant filter system. Just a tip, put some grease on the filter o-ring so it seals better and also makes the filter come off easy the next time you go to change it.
Nice, easy mod. Cheap insurance too!
What are your thoughts on adding a Cat 1R-0750 fuel instead of a water separator. Do you think there would be an issues there or is the WIX 33405 the ideal filter for this application
Should be fine.
Really should completely remove the in-tank screens with the installation of the spin on filter.
Previously done
What fuel line hose did you use?
Just some 3/8 fuel hose I had in stock.
Looks good 👍 I'll bring my 2000 F350 7.3l by tomorrow for this mod😄
LOL
Did you use 3/8 ID hose?
I think it was.
Just finished up this mod on my 99 f250. Thank you for the awesome detailed video. I appreciate all the content you put out.
Cool, glad to h elp!
What the inside diameter of the hoses used?
3/8" I believe
Clean fuel and clean oil will ensure 500,000 plus miles on that motor.
That's my thinking too.
Great point about larger farm equipment (and commercial trucks) utilizing dual filtration.
And the fact that it's biblical? Well, psshh! Who can argue?
Yep, right up there with "Thou shalt not have dirty fuel".
I just bought a e350 220k miles. I just changed the fuel filter it had 1/2 of junk in the bottom of the res.
Yeah, that's pretty common. This filter will fix that.
The more filtration the better! If it wasn’t, FASS, Airdog, etc. systems wouldn’t have 2 filters.
My thinking too!
Great addition and instruction...and thank you for relocating the Emer Brake cable above the filter housing.
Yeah, it was bugging me.

My '02 7.3L Excursion has had a Wix24006 prefilter on it for many years, it used to be a Fire Chief's battalion car.... the hoses on it are well into their "old age" obviously, and to the NaySayers that a 10 Micron filter is bad, that filter has lots of Surface Area, it has not been a problem, ever. I will replace it with the Water Drain version next time.
We "Discovered" the 24006 fuel filter when we installed the Fuel Sump, and intended to install a Racor Marine glass type fuel filter with drain.... phooey on that, the Wix is already there.
It should be all the filtration we'll ever need.
How’s it holding up?! Any leaks, or issues due to the inline filter?
No problems. I've done this to all my diesel equipment. My other truck has about 100K miles on it since doing this.
In addition, I installed a tee between the fuel pump and the filter you installed. 1/8 copper line up to a vacuum gauge in the cab to let me know when it’s time to replace the filter.
Ok, now that's good idea!
i did the same thing, works like a charm.
Good idea for my 01 f350 . Gotta love them 7.3's
Right on
I want to do that to my 2011 f250 6.7 and my 2002 f350 7.3
Easy modification for sure.
How many feet of hose did you use?
Not much, less than 3' I'd guess.
Do you happen to know what size of hose you used? Id rather find it before i have fuel dumping and try to shove the wrong size hose over it😂
Maybe 3/8? I think that's what I used. I have a "big box of hose ends" that I dug it out of.
@@ProjectTimeGarage thanks !
3/8" hose*
I run a filter on my radiator cooler system also.
Yeah, I think i'm going to do a video on that too.
Nice video thank you for your work.
Thanks!
Looks good what size bolts did you use to hold the filter base on to the frame?
"bout that big" 😂
Honestly, I dug through the Big Bolt Box and found some mismatched junk from another project. 5/16 and a washer will work fine.
Cool thx !@@ProjectTimeGarage
Cheap and efficient. Love it.
Thanks!
Where did u get the idi shirt at.
They are my own creation.Check my UA-cam store. I have them available.
Great video sir
Thanks!
awesome video
Thanks for the visit
Id use shorter filter
Which filter do you recommend?
The bigger the better! LoL more flow, less restriction.
