I started with Tara Stiles almost five years ago and even though I’m advanced and diversified now, I visit Tara’s beginners videos for a gentle routine every now and then. Still love them.
Love this! Fast enough to keep me from getting too bored and slow enough to relax. Short, sweet and uncomfortably comfortable. Can't achieve every pose but Rome wasn't built in a day either. Thanks Tara!
I've been following this video all week as I wake up and before I work out and I've been enjoying it. I already think I've become more flexible and my muscles feel relaxed.
It does appear rather quickly paced for a beginner, but the beauty of UA-cam and internet videos means you can pause and then continue whenever you please. And let's not forget how much you'll appreciate the quick pace once you have down. Feeling slowed down isn't any better. I know this because I'm old enough to recall yoga on VHS and that my friends is SLOW.
I love this instructor, I remember few years ago I started watching her and when I decided to come back to yoga she is still on the top of my list. By doing it few times I already see the positive changes in my flexibility!
Finally! An at home video that doesn't A) drag on through all sorts of spirituality and inner sanctum that first timers are oblivious to, B) move so slowly that you begin to doze off or start pondering what you'll snack on after the video ends and C) assume you understand the lingo and human anatomy enough to skate through like a pro. Thank you! Not just from me, but from my physiotherapist who has been urging me to get yoga-ing to speed my recovery from a back injury.
I remember this video was difficult for me to follow up and dropped it. And now, I started doing yoga for about 2 weeks (more or less) and came back to this and was easier. Moral lesson: At first it's hard, but if you give it a little time, you're going to improve! I promise!!
For people who think this video is fast: yes, she is talking fast, but to get the benefit of movement, you won't be sitting in poses for a long time. The great thing is that this is a video, so you can watch it before you try it and get a feel for it first, and pause it if you feel like you're behind. You could even mute the sound and just watch.
Thank you so much for this! I've never done yoga before but I followed this routine and honestly it was so easy and I feel so great. Will without a doubt be trying to do this everyday!
I have been doing yoga for decades, and I agree with comments that this is much too fast. Part of the effectiveness of yoga is to allow the body to gently stretch and release tension. Tara does make many valuable suggestions and observations, and despite the speed, is a good teacher. I found a great solution to the speed - go into the cog button, go to speed and change from normal, the default setting, to a lower speed. I found the .75 setting to be a much better flow and her voice still sounds normal. Again, Tara is a good teacher and knows her stuff.
You all prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the login password. I love any tips you can give me
@Philip Orlando thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
I think this is great. Maybe a bit basic for my level, but perfect for a beginner. I like how natural Tara seems. She definitely has a way about her that makes me feel comfortable, almost like a kind friend is leading me. Just one bit of feedback though... she says "a lot" a great deal. It's used excessively enough that it has become a filler word/phrase in this video. This is no different than saying "like" or "um" as a pause in conversation or public speaking. You could literally eliminate this phrase entirely, and the message would come through. A great video, just wanted to provide a tiny bit of constructive criticism (but I really liked everything else!!).
I have a hard time stretching because it hurts my back so much! (I have severe arthritis throughout my whole body but mostly in my lower back) This was the first flexibility and range of motion stretches that did not hurt my back what so ever! It made me feel open and just all over great and relaxed! I recommend this to anyone with lower back pain!
Hey Stacy, What's great about this series is you can mix and match however you feel is best for your body! They aren't necessarily in the order you have to do them in but it is definitely an option. As far as moving on, when these exercises start to feel either too easy or much easier and you're ready for a bigger challenge then it's time to take that step and go up a level. Hope this helps!
This was a great introduction to basic yoga moves, I'm going to be doing this everyday now. And as for the music and how fast she talks, this is a video for a reason, just mute it and play your own tranquil music in the background, and follow her lead and pause it as she goes to adjust your position, it's not very hard!
Really liked this. I have never done yoga before and for the first time watching a video I didn't feel like it was too advanced for me. I'm not near as flexible as her xD but I felt like I could modify everything she did to fit what I'm able to do. I would have liked to hold the poses for longer and still follow her through the video, but hopefully I can memorize this quickly enough to where I'll be able to do it on my own and hold them longer. Excited to move on to the next video!
I use this stretch several times a week. Thank you for making it short and sweet, it does the trick, and is a perfect way to start the day or a walk. Great job Tara.
In 2014, I found not only Tara but this exact video on my Smart Blu-Ray player. I did this 3 to 4 times a week, consistently. Aaaand 10 years later, she's still my Yogi! ❤❤
I think the speed is great. It really shows the flow and fluidity of the movements. Keep in mind, I started yoga three days ago, so I am the definition of a beginner haha! For those of you who feel like this isn;t for beginners, you have to realize that you cannot expect perfection in your poses without practice. Just because she can fold in half doesn't mean you should be able to just yet. Keep up the spectacular videos Tara!
Thank you. When I was fitter a few years ago I use to do a "yogalatis" routine 2 times a week, Yoga once weekly and then walk 5km 3 times a week weather permitted...then the condition I have accelerated and encased my full body causing me now to being on verge of loosing the use of my legs according to the specialists. I have decided I am TAKING BACK my life, my muscles and my joints. I found YOUR routine and the positions are what I am currently capable of doing. I AM going to work myself back to be at the level of Yoga to where I was again. I LOVED Yoga...I would come away so relaxed and calm. I look forward to that once again
Just what I needed - I am recovering from an abdominal injury and need a quick and simple routine to help deepen my breathing and keep my muscles healthy while I am inactive as I recover, without putting too much strain on my injury. This is perfect for me right now, thanks.
I love this video I just wish it was a bit slower. I had to keep pausing so I had enough time. It'd be nice to just flow. But other than that I love doing this routine in the mornings!
She is awesome! This is 3 years I'm following & practicing her exercises every day online or TV channels. Whether she talks fast or not, just following her movements and watching videos is good enough. She is one of the best :-)
Yoga is meant to be meditative and to follow your breathing into each movement. I'm pretty sure Tara does this video to help give you a routine to follow at home. Just learn the routine and do it at your own pace, in a relaxing, meditative environment without following the video. This is great!
For a yoga beginner, this is way too fast -So if you're doing this video as a beginner, I would strongly advise you really just get into the basic-basic-poses such as forward fold/downward dog, not to mention that before doing all that you should learn how to breathe 'yoga-style' first, and stay there for as long as you need to until you feel your body relax and soften up to the pose (don't overstretch and try to get to this point quickly!) - TAKE YOUR TIME and don't try to keep up with her as a beginner - just take up the poses and really do them slowly. :)
This type of video is wonderful for me. I don't have an hour and a half each morning for a full on yoga routine. I get a nice quick ten-minute stretch out, and feel great. I liked the direct communication; she doesn't sound like she's on tranquilizers. Granted, I have very little experience, but I still think this video is great for me, a beginner.
This is a great routine but it's a bit quick, I'd like to follow along with the video without pausing and un-pausing it but still be able to spend a little more time in each pose. Also ... Tara sounds a bit like an auctioneer while she's explaining the poses.
daniel tuitt Well it doesn't give you enough time to get into the pose & really breathe into it like yin yoga & flexibility poses typically do. I assumed she was intending for this to be just a sequence of poses you can do on your own & then demonstrating those poses but that this video was not meant to be a "Practice along with me" video. Which is too bad!
J Mo The last two computers I've owned are a Vista and now my Windows 8 (which is now 8.1) and I've never had Windows Movie Maker in any of them. I didn't know that ever came with it!
we are three college freshmen and we are men and we have never done real yoga before. This video is very helpful and we will be doing yoga every day to become more flexible and to recover from working out. We wanted to say thank you for the outstanding video. We hope to be as flexible as you one day. Also we love you
My guess is until you feel that you're flexible enough. Like I can't do this without bending my knees, so I'll do this routine, plus some other simple beginner routines, until I can do them without my knees bending.
I came here thinking that this would be a breeze...... boy was I wrong haha it pushed my flexibility and strength further than I thought it would! Absolutely coming back here everyday!
Thank you! I've been trying to find easy ten minute or so yoga videos, to start regaining my flexibility and getting into shape, but all of them were way too fast paced or confusing. I love that you do a good job explaining belly breaths, you call out a position but then walk us through what that means (seems so much of yoga is just knowing how to do a pose correctly!) and you have a very nice soothing voice, perfect way to encourage myself to use this every day as a wakeup routine
The video is too fast and the music really doesn't fit to yoga. I was't able to relax and do the poses correctly as a beginner because they weren't explained.
I watch these videos a few times bfore actually starting, just for memory, subconcious mind to absorb, while I do this I closely watch the body movents. Then you can always repeat it , mute it if music is annoying, cause if you are a beginner the moves would be difficult, and music can hinder with concentration. Well, there are other videos as well, buy stiles is good with poses, just an opinion.
I found this AMAZING and actually did it two times in a row. I love her stretch workouts because they really help me to go deeper into my muscles. The more you do it--the more flexible you become. It takes practice...so be patient. :)
we would much appreciate if you could slow down your speech to match your lovely body movement......which will highlight your inner emotional settlement..all together a superb soothing performance, thanks.
I think this video is far too fast paced for beginners. Poses aren't explained and there is not enough time to move onto the next. It all feels a bit rushed especially for a beginner as stated. It's all a bit fast! I think this would be better for beginners if it was a little slower paced inbetween poses.
+Frankie Pwnd I quit half way because she was just going over everything too quickly, she was speaking too fast. Didn't feel very relaxing having to rush through it.
+Brett B I agree! I am currently doing 'Yoga with Adriene' 30 Day Yoga Camp and it's amazing. Nicely paced and well explained. You should try it!! Also 'amandasanayoga 30min beginners yoga' is great!! Let me know if you try them! 😊
I forgot to comment but it is indeed much better, thanks for the share. I already lost hope when beginning because everything was so fast paced and wasn't really motivated to do it.
Very enjoyable! I am returning to yoga and already know many of the moves she is guiding us through. She is very thorough with all of the information a beginner needs, besides maybe some more occasional breathing reminders for some of us more tense or stressed out. Good to try though and maybe listen once through to get familiar watching. It's short enough and effective!
***** I agree. Beginning around 3:30 the entire remainder of the video becomes impossible (at least until the time when she finally sits down in a cross-legged position). Look up "Gentle Morning Yoga by Adriene" ~ that video is amazing!
KT Pierce"Yoga for Complete Beginners by Yogavidya". This is a much better video for complete beginners; it is slow, relaxing, appropriate tutorial for breathing and body movements. I like the whole channel.
Definitely. Just take it slowly until you get the hang of it. The more you practice, the easier it will become. Your flexibility and balance will improve allowing you to hold poses longer (and move on to harder ones!)
I really like these videos. My girlfriend and i have been doing them together.we started with the flexibility video and strength building then moved onto core. I think core would have been difficult if it was the first yoga we had tried. The reason she talks like that is because she is keeping tempo with the way you should be breathing. Keep making videos you are amazing
I enjoyed the poses and definitely felt more relaxed and stretched out, but she rushed so much we could have held the poses for atleast 14 seconds each! sheesh. That said once I get the hang of it I really did enjoy the video
I felt very rushed too. Hard to keep up. A shame because I really like her style, but I’m a beginner and she’s already moved into the next post before I could even figure out what the last one was - and I slowed it down to 0.75x speed!
This is one of my favorite routines . Whenever I'm short on time or motivation I do this and it really opens up my body . Thanks for another awesome video ,Tara.
this goes a bit too fast, especially for a beginner. If you really want to open up your body more, you need to pause the video and breath more into the pose until you feel relaxed. Too fast paced for beeginners
Since you say you haven't worked out recently and are getting back into it now (great job, btw!) start out with every other day. After a few weeks, if you feel your flexibility is greatly improving, feel free to increase the frequency with an additional day or 2!
+Cathy Bloniarz it was kinda fast, at least the way I've learned yoga (from my dad) we always do the things along breathing, but this gives you a good routine how to do everything. slow the video down a bit. I know I had to do it since I have huge lungs and breathing is a big part of yoga. take your time! remember to breath! just keep it up!
Yoga is really hard. I have started and failed many times because you really need someone to watch to make sure your doing the positions correctly and like bighead said breathe. some times I forget when I get nervous - like Im behind.
I thought this was perfect for a beginner! Any slower and you might as well be sleeping. All of the negative comments here are really unbelievable. The pace was perfect and after a long day of work this was exactly what I needed. Super EASY and relaxing. Thank you for sharing, your videos are awesome!
Honestly this video is amazing! I tried a couple before this one and they were too confusing or boring lol. But this one is truly amazing! She is so easy to follow and gives precise directions. After doing this I felt amazing and relaxed. All of the tension in my muscles was gone and I even tried having my mom do it lol didnt work very well tho. I will definitely try more yoga after this because I am in love!!
Tara is so graceful in her motion, a great model! Thanks for posting these videos, just taking 10 minutes a day keeps my back and hips in working order!
the pose rotation is wonderful but is the instructor in a hurry? i got too lost and couldn't keep up at multiple parts. also the speech was very fast which made it not relaxing at all.
I thought the same when I first watched her videos (3 years ago). Try the moves at your own comfortable timing. Give 6-8 deep breathes on each move. We can use this video and make it 1 hour work out. She made all of her videos fast and short. We just have to try out each move and put them together in our own way. Hope it helps.
I had neck surgery a year ago and had to let go of my practice for awhile. This felt great to start back with, makes me remember why I practiced in the first place!
she's trying to evoke relaxation and it's coming off monotone with a slight contrite inflection...the point is....she's trying to sound relaxing and I appreciate that, her and this video.
I've been doing tons of different yoga routines, trying to find the one right for me. At first I did think this video was very rushed, but once I did it, I sat back down and found that I have never felt better after a work out. Nice and smooth, not too slow, and not too fast I found after I tried it. I can see how this might be difficult for people just starting out, though. Thank you for this video! My body hasn't felt this energized in a long, long time.
This is only the third time I've done yoga ever and I thought it was amazing! The other two videos I've done were way faster. Maybe it would be good to find something even slower but I'm definitely going to keep doing this video.
I also just started, and I signed up for a class at a local studio. My instructor makes it insanely clear that yoga shouldn't be painful, and if something isn't comfortable, don't force it. We do our downward dog, and my heels almost touch, but not quite (mind you I used to dance for 7 years, so I'm still flexible from that). But you should keep your legs straight, while pushing your heels as far down as whats comfortable for you. Never force anything, and peddling your feet beforehand helps too
I appreciate the effort you put into making this video, but the background music is really annoying and reduces concentration and I think the coach speaks too much and too fast, maybe that's her way but for a beginner I didn't fully enjoy this.
This was my first attempt at yoga since having kids-I figured start with flexibility then move to strength-and I found it really easy to follow along. Thanks so much!
I am an extremely new beginner. This is not good for a beginner. I can't even get my body into a dogward dog position. This video should NOT be labeled for beginner.
I did Yoga in high school my Sophomore year and I was judge so harshly, till I led the team in receiving yards and was second in interceptions. The next year I continued to improve and Yoga helped me keep form while lifting as well.
Yoga is a great addition to a workout regimen that includes cardio and weights. You should find a way to incorporate all of them with types of activities that are fun!
I have been doing yoga for about 4 years now and I have to say that I continue to love its versatility. I study a lot so im sitting often and I feel really tense or wired after hitting the books, This workout is not only great for relaxing my muscles, but for relaxing my mind too. Thanx Tara! I will continue to follow all of your vids to help me while I work and when I workout :)
thank you. This was the first time I have done Yoga. Helped my lower back open up. I am super tense and don't exercise this is a great step towards getting a little relief and tone. peace
I totally liked the instructor's style. I'm new to yoga and the chosen pace in this video introduces me briskly to a good few yoga flows. I personally like Tara's voice and find her approach suitable to my beginner's needs. Luckily UA-cam space provides the opportunity to find what suits you the best as the choice is great.
I started with Tara Stiles almost five years ago and even though I’m advanced and diversified now, I visit Tara’s beginners videos for a gentle routine every now and then. Still love them.

There are lots of programs that say they are for beginners, but still require a lot of flexibility and strength. This one is truly for beginners!

Kate Dubbs I think so too also the background music should be more relaxing

Until they feel too easy!
Thanks!
I love your commentary. It's so relaxing and your direction makes it easy to follow, so I don't really have to worry about watching what you're doing.
If your reading this comment here's a hint... plz don't let your knees exceed over your toes whenever doing the lounges... it could hurt you
Lunges
I came here thinking that this would be a breeze...... boy was I wrong haha it pushed my flexibility and strength further than I thought it would! Absolutely coming back here everyday!
WHY IS EVERYONE COMPLAINING? It's a quick short video for you to LEARN the moves. Then, you can do it by YOURSELF at home at your own pace.
Thank you! I've been trying to find easy ten minute or so yoga videos, to start regaining my flexibility and getting into shape, but all of them were way too fast paced or confusing. you sound so enthusiastic that had to watch another video .... sorry if this is offensive i just meant to help your future videos.
she prob get tired doing poses and talking
I think that's her yoga voice- relaxing and soothing.
I have used Tara's videos off and on as a daily practice it works great for my schedule and she has a great flow for any stage of yoga.
The video is too fast and the music really doesn't fit to yoga. I was't able to relax and do the poses correctly as a beginner because they weren't explained.

I thought it was a little fast too.. so I went to slow the speed setting down and accidentally chose a faster speed. That was hilarious.
I haven't done yoga in a while & this is a staple I always come back to when I'm getting into things again.
we would much appreciate if you could slow down your speech to match your lovely body movement......which will highlight your inner emotional settlement..all together a superb soothing performance, thanks.
Thanks so much for pulling this beginner series together!!
+Frankie Pwnd thanks so much just subscribed to adriene. she is great
+proudbluestaterful Aww brill! the 30 day yoga camp is great! 😊 if you're ever bored you could always check my channel too hehe
Is it strange that I find this difficult?
I do. But I think it's normal if your a beginner. You have to get used to it
No, this isn't a beginner video even though that is how it is labeled.
***** I agree. Beginning around 3:30 the entire remainder of the video becomes impossible (at least until the time when she finally sits down in a cross-legged position). Look up "Gentle Morning Yoga by Adriene" ~ that video is amazing!
***** Also check out "Yoga for Complete Beginners by Yogavidya" another very good one for beginners.
Your flexibility and balance will improve allowing you to hold poses longer (and move on to harder ones!)
why is she talking to fast? arent this suppose to be calming..i dont feel calm when she talk to fast..but i like the yoga tho..
The fast disco drum didn't help!
I thought it was just me...I'm thinking yoga supposed to be a quiet 'thing' and shes talking so fast im like girl pls
Loved the routine but I wished it was at like a third of the speed.
Dear Lord, I felt as if I were in a marathon. Way too fast for beginner.
Thank you for sharing, your videos are awesome!
who just stopped midway and just watched her XD
If you watch the video before you do it it will help a lot so you'll know what to expect next. :)
Her voice rushing every movement stresses me :$
Maria C I thought I was just going crazy and getting antsy
Yes, very annoying way of talking.
It is definitely a great way to start your morning. I already feel great and I'm happy to have found a new channel.
I agree, you were talking way too fast and almost sounded bored like you really didnt want to be in the video.
BEST YOGA ROUTINE IN THE WORLD!!!
Nice routine... But it's going way too fast!
DAMN this is harder then I thought?!?!?
Totally agree. Hope the more we do it the easier it will get.
I had neck surgery a year ago and had to let go of my practice for awhile. This felt great to start back with, makes me remember why I practiced in the first place!
Good video, but annoying way of talking..
she's trying to evoke relaxation and it's coming off monotone with a slight contrite inflection...the point is....she's trying to sound relaxing and I appreciate that, her and this video.
bud, this video great, and tara is a mega babe who can do no wrong.
taumy honestly i love her voice. i do find it relaxing to listen to
you're annoying
Roc Solid Fitness you're an asshole
I've been doing tons of different yoga routines, trying to find the one right for me. At first I did think this video was very rushed, but once I did it, I sat back down and found that I have never felt better after a work out. Nice and smooth, not too slow, and not too fast I found after I tried it. I can see how this might be difficult for people just starting out, though.
Thank you for this video! My body hasn't felt this energized in a long, long time.
6:09 I stumbled over :/
This is one of the best yoga vids ive seen. Really simple easy to keep up with but enough to make you feel the stretch.
Nearly killed myself.
+sxmenthol Lol! That is sooooooooo funny..cuz so did I! I can relate :-))))
+sxm You have no idea... hahah
sxm me too!😂
This is only the third time I've done yoga ever and I thought it was amazing! The other two videos I've done were way faster. Maybe it would be good to find something even slower but I'm definitely going to keep doing this video.
you talk far too fast for beginners
I also just started, and I signed up for a class at a local studio. My instructor makes it insanely clear that yoga shouldn't be painful, and if something isn't comfortable, don't force it. We do our downward dog, and my heels almost touch, but not quite (mind you I used to dance for 7 years, so I'm still flexible from that). But you should keep your legs straight, while pushing your heels as far down as whats comfortable for you. Never force anything, and peddling your feet beforehand helps too
I can't concentrate and relax with this music in the background. Too bad...
I appreciate the effort you put into making this video, but the background music is really annoying and reduces concentration and I think the coach speaks too much and too fast, maybe that's her way but for a beginner I didn't fully enjoy this.
+manel kh Hey - try this beginner's flow and see if it's better? Leave me a comment - I always take requests!
Thanks very much for your suggestion! I will try it.
Agreed- also a beginner - it seems MUCH too fast as well
It is for beginners you have to do it everyday like 3 times a day for faster results or once a day for longer.
Keep going! I am a beginner and its getting a little easier every time I do it!
Hmm..
I'm also a beginner, this video was my second yoga workout in my life.
But i did al the poses/positions.
Wasn't a problem at all.
I liked it :)
What did you think?
I did Yoga in high school my Sophomore year and I was judge so harshly, till I led the team in receiving yards and was second in interceptions. The next year I continued to improve and Yoga helped me keep form while lifting as well.
You do them too quick! Beginners need time to see the pose and then do it. I likes the poses but just found it went too quickly
Turn it to half or 3 quarter speed
Thank you Tara, you have changed my life through yoga!
ok this is not as easy as she makes it LOL
Yoga is a great addition to a workout regimen that includes cardio and weights. You should find a way to incorporate all of them with types of activities that are fun!
i liked this video a lot but found the background music a bit distracting :/
OMG I didn't even notice this had background music lmao
I have been doing yoga for about 4 years now and I have to say that I continue to love its versatility.
I study a lot so im sitting often and I feel really tense or wired after hitting the books, This workout is not only great for relaxing my muscles, but for relaxing my mind too.
Thanx Tara! I will continue to follow all of your vids to help me while I work and when I workout :)
Geez, can she speak any quicker!?
thank you. This was the first time I have done Yoga. Helped my lower back open up. I am super tense and don't exercise this is a great step towards getting a little relief and tone. peace
I cant even touch my fucking toes :'( A lot of hard work ahead lol
I am a new teacher. Most of my class is 60+ years old. I really like these moves because my ladies find them doable.
This was WAY to fast.
