That's exactly why he's Challenger and that's exactly why he gets annoyed when his students try to argue with him and have egos. Like "Bro you're Silver 3 and arguing with me about this?"
As he said he unlocks screen when he needs and when he dont he have it locked. Silver players have it locked when they need to see more and thats the difference.
I'm not a very high level, But I use the same map thing where, If I dont need to be looking all over the place its locked, But its unlocked when it needs to be
xPetu is by far my favorite personality in EUW. Good attitude. Great content even if its typically only one champ. Super dedicated to self improvement and bettering the community in whatever way he can.... like his Shen Spreadsheet.
Seriously, this video and guest was the best I've seen from your channel so far. I really like all insights he talked about with you, and I like how funny it became as well!
37:29 this one really hits home for me. and is why i ping my ult so much and specifically getting it to ping 0s which is surprisingly easy. this will tell chat the EXACT moment your ult came off cooldown. i ping as soon as its on cool down, somewhere around halfway thru, usually at exactly 20s and 10s and sometimes 5,4,3 like the countdown to a live broadcast to tell them GET READY im planning to ult. obviously in the case of the latter i use other pings to make it more clear. im self taught but fluent in pinglish lol
I also felt that the default key setup was awkward when I first installed. Coming from FPS games, I did custom key bindings to mimic my natural home row keys of ctrl ,A, W, D, spacebar. So I play with unlocked camera and move my camera around with AWSD, abilities are ERFC that I hit with my index finger, and summoners are Q (hit with ring finger) and T (hit with index finger). space bar snaps my camera back to center but doesn't lock it. ctrl is my self cast key and shift is my level up ability key, both hit with pinky finger while index finger hits the ability for them. Very easy to move camera around to see health bars, unstack hitboxes mid fight so you can click on who you want to, and most importantly feels more comfortable for FPS players, or at least for me.

35:00 You can also use it like this: You're a jungler, a lane is super low and wants to recall, ping your way to that lane, ping the champion on that lane, ping Recall Like you want to say, I will hold your lane you can recall
Every guest in this bootcamp is my favorite content creator in that role (especially xPetu and xfsn Saber)... what a great experience it's been so far. Looking forward to signing up again for a future bootcamp when I actually have enough free time to commit to the climb.
30:00 That's so deep. I never thought that maybe my teammates could not afford a monitor and had to play league based on pure instincts. Explains a lot too.
I use WASD to move the cam, QERX for my skills. It is all easily reachable and i play like this for many years. Works perfectly fine. I think in early mobas, this was the standard way to do it. Might be wrong on that one, but i got used to this in very early moba days.
I do the same exact thing. I got to D2 playing locked screen and I use the Y button instead of space bar. Glad to see someone higher up using the same technique
33:10 pinging your recall is PERFECT for no comms bot lane reset timing you can also do this ping with basically anything in the game. objective timers, enemy items, your cds, enemy spawn times stoked i knew something NEACE didn't :D :D :D
UA-cam recommend me this video again. When i saw this for the first time i started to play shen. And now i see this, im rank 2 Shen in TR server. Great guest choice Neace and great player xPetu
Because I came from Dota 2 to League, I got used to the unlocked camera and having 6 active items, in the early days I dont think a locked camera option was there but its definitely nice to have during teamfights
after watching you coach that one guy playing shen, I decided to try him out. I like him. my map awareness still needs worked on, wasn't an easy early game but then my twitch started getting fed.
Please review the gentleman who climbed to diamond 1 playing Draven with his hands and Yuumi for himself, as his duo, with his feet. This could be a great person to interview!
Locked screen lets you be more efficient with APM in fights and laning since you don't have to make as many extraneous mouse movements to move the camera, and can keep mouse in relevant areas to dodge skillshots and react to things etc. Holding space down is fine too, but it stiffens the muscles in your hand so that your other inputs with the same hand will be a bit slower (usually an insignificant amount slower, but could be the difference in some situations, and it also puts more strain on your hand muscles and nerves) Like this guy says, you need to unlock it manually for certain situations, and watch minimap for awareness. But if you play locked screen optimally you can get a higher skill ceiling than playing unlocked optimally.
About that ping section another great thing to add is that you can ping your teammates level and then ping your experience to ask them how close they are to reach level 6 for example. This is great for jungle-ganks and for botlane in general.
I like the talk about pings, cause that's one of the things I need to get better at. but when it comes to pinglish, sometimes when I play, I have to type in chat, cause the people I play with don't know enough to figure out what I want sometimes. Like when I want to freeze a wave, and I ping everytime they hit a minnion, and then I have to type, "freeze" and they go "?what???, stop pinging". So, at least I try to get better at pinging other things too.
Neace thanks the videos, I really appreciate the content lately. I’m really learning from these crossover videos. I have watch the full video and definitely will watch this again! Btw I also appreciate the timestamps!! Keep working hard my dude 🥷

And the points he makes are always spot on. Not only that I feel like he can spot exaclty what the player needs to work on very quickly....Love the guy.
"League of Legends is a game about game knowledge" - This is actually one of the better quotes describing the game that i've heard. I played League for a period of about 6 years and i never made high elo, but i moved on to a point where i felt comfortable with a set of champions and had acquired some amount of game knowledge. About 2-3 years ago i took a break from gaming due to my education and i have never been able to get back into the game since. New champions get rolled out like cars in a Ford factory, the item meta got totally revamped, playing around objectives has become more crucial than ever. Im not saying that these changes are bad, but as someone who has a life and doesnt have the time to spend the hours in the game I did when i was 15, relearning the game constantly can become exhausting. Its not fun to start up a game after a while and then lane against a champion whose mechanics youve never seen before or only to realize that youve missed a champion you like being reworked, requiring you to rethink your old playstyles on a whim. Sometimes, I just want to start a game I like, and know what to expect. If there was anything to bring me back to the game, if i could wish for anything in LoL, it would be a "frozen patch". Take any version of the game, no matter its faults and just offer it as a timeless alternative to the current version. WoW classic has been incredibly successful - maybe well see a LoL classic at some point in the future & ill happily rejoin the League community once again.
I am usually playing locked camera on melee champs, but just as the guy said, it's not about locked or unlocked, it's all about unlocking and moving it in situations where you need to, so I am just using space as lock/unlock instead of center camera and unlocking it when I want to see the map
my pop told me (before he passed on) this important bit of advice ... he said "those who can, do - but those that cant, teach" pretty ironic too since him and my dad were teachers, still great advice though
i mostly play locked. played for 9 years, i only unlock it to chase or sometimes to setup lanes or with morg on the "bad" side. it just forces you to have map awareness and patience
duude soo true, i was an otp Nida when i started the game and always prayed every patch that my nida doesn't get buffed, tho cause for me i would rather have nobody play her other than me, cause really love her play style and i didn't want to see anyone else use her as a champion xD
on the topic of otp who wants their champ buffed, as a warwick main, i feel like what allows him to be very strong, while not significantly popular and having a pretty normal winrate is all his bugs and glitches. currently warwick is quite overtunned in raw stats and got pretty effective mechanics, but he got many major loosing interactions or counter intuitive mechanics that reduce his actual in game strength by a lot. for example there's how most characters can cancel his unstopable ultimate in a 1v1 by accident, how his Q and E interact with the aa timer and input buffer (can't flash->Q on enemies if you don't know how), or how his W passive don't always gives the bonus attack speed (mainly you only get it after attacking a low health enemy once at normal speed). if warwick's bugs and bad interactions where all fixed, he would be much easier to play at full potential, and as such the average player would pull more of his power, raising his winrate, which might cause him to get nerfed...
lmao the last part was so on point xD .. like ur alies scrow up and ur tp,ult or other summs are like 1 second away while u pinged it .. they die that second and start flaming the shit out of u and spam ping ur crap lol
ive never been able to play on full freecam, and ive pretty much always had my spacebar bound to an item slot, so ive always used a mix of locked and unlocked and just press y all the time
I do this too, but I think its more of being able to use both rather than say someone is only a locked screen player. I started the game playing jhin and use the key "t" for lock/unlock during ult and w. I would also argue there's value of lock screen during team fights to not lose where you are in it.
I loved that they nerfed Sylas just as i was expecting them to nerf him. I play Sylas supp but not for sustain with W - Everfrost and Cosmic drive, but with magic pen and Q max. And they buffed his Q and nerfed his W
That's funny I discovered this channel while I had to help a friend improve it was kinda fortunate. The camera thing is indeed so important, and I don't see how Lux or Twisted Fate players could play on locked camera really.
I'm a jungle main who plays on locked camera, however I am VERY rarely even looking at my screen. I am staring at my map 99% of the time and using peripheral vision to farm and path. Only time I look at my screen is when I'm fighting, ganking, or checking wave states. I also click the map to look anywhere instead of using F keys. Would learning to use unlocked camera really improve me at all if I'm not looking at the screen to begin with? (yes I know my map is on my screen, just wasn't sure what else to call it). Edit: just finished the video and realized he said almost this exact same thing. It looks like I just copied what he said xD
The key is that xPetu can play camera unlocked if he wants. But he has insane map awareness with his current setup because that’s what works best with his Shen. The difference between xPetu and the other people who play on locked screen is that the other people tunnel vision on their own champion and don’t look around the map at all or even ahead when going into a fight.
I personally can't stand playing with locked camera anymore, especially having switched over to unlocked years ago when I decided to pick up Gangplank and Lee Sin. Having Neace tell me to play unlocked is a no-brainer in that regard.
Forbidden technologies. xPetu is just pleasant to listen to. Something about how genuinely nice he seems, and that accent. Riot, give this man the Necrit treatment. Make a character named Petu who is Shen's mentor.
Even being one of the best players out there, he still remains humble and allows the teaching to come from the #1 Shen. Love this guy. Love my Silver gang too
I play (well i used to play) Fizz a lot, it is sooo much fun champ and I completly agree with this thing about buffing my OTP champ, howerever i have to say that since new season and items rework Fizz became a lot lot weaker in terms of mana - clearing a wave then 2 spell rotations and you are OOM (if you go 'burst mythic' - harvester/protobelt, which are sooo good for AP assassins in general) - in my opinion if riot decided to put back some mana on Lich Bane it ll help a lot
I use my side mouse button to lock and unlock camera. My thumb is usually resting there any way so I put it to use to unlock and lock camera. I play locked camera most of the time in lane but use unlock to check other lanes and for ganks.
I move my camera in a similar fashion to him, I have my "Y" key binded to a micro on my mouse and will frequently switch between locked and unlocked depending on the situation!
Never heard of xPetu but I've been using camera just like him since forever. Instead of resetting it with space bar I lock and unlock it very often with the Y key, I peaked plat 1 back in the day.
There is never only 1 answer to 1 question/problem. i too play on what i call semi locked, i basically hold down my spacebar 24/7 and release it if i wanna look around. people are naturally good at different things, well im naturally good at NOT moving around my screen. i would love for there to be a setting that "pushed" your screen when you get 20% away from the edge of the screen.

I also felt that the default key setup was awkward when I first installed. Coming from FPS games, I did custom key bindings to mimic my natural home row keys of ctrl ,A, W, D, spacebar. So I play with unlocked camera and move my camera around with AWSD, abilities are ERFC that I hit with my index finger, and summoners are Q (hit with ring finger) and T (hit with index finger). space bar snaps my camera back to center but doesn't lock it. ctrl is my self cast key and shift is my level up ability key, both hit with pinky finger while index finger hits the ability for them. if warwick's bugs and bad interactions where all fixed, he would be much easier to play at full potential, and as such the average player would pull more of his power, raising his winrate, which might cause him to get nerfed...
lmao the last part was so on point xD .. like ur alies scrow up and ur tp,ult or other summs are like 1 second away while u pinged it .. they die that second and start flaming the shit out of u and spam ping ur crap lol
ive never been able to play on full freecam, and ive pretty much always had my spacebar bound to an item slot, so ive always used a mix of locked and unlocked and just press y all the time
ive been waiting for this and it was worth it.
I agree i also dont like the position of F keys, so i use ZXCV buttons, since they are closer, easier and faster to press.
I do this too, but I think its more of being able to use both rather than say someone is only a locked screen player. I started the game playing jhin and use the key "t" for lock/unlock during ult and w. I would also argue there's value of lock screen during team fights to not lose where you are in it.
Brooooo so glad u got Petu on, I’ve been a fan of his content for a while now and he’s sleeper good
I loved that they nerfed Sylas just as i was expecting them to nerf him.
Best guest we ever had
The key is that xPetu can play camera unlocked if he wants. But he has insane map awareness with his current setup because that’s what works best with his Shen. The difference between xPetu and the other people who play on locked screen is that the other people tunnel vision on their own champion and don’t look around the map at all or even ahead when going into a fight.
When 2 of my youtube greats get together, great video man I loved it!
Keep up the Pinglish xD
I do EXACTLY how he said... Locked 99%, max size minimap, unlock with Y-toggle to jump to area for things like Shen ult.
This isn't the crossover we wanted, but the one we deserved
Alot of people wanted it
@@cx3622 yeah I completely agree, I didn't even know I wanted it. I'm just being edgy fam lmao
@@danielcheek2013 haha not deserved, needed*
I personally can't stand playing with locked camera anymore, especially having switched over to unlocked years ago when I decided to pick up Gangplank and Lee Sin. Having Neace tell me to play unlocked is a no-brainer in that regard.
love playing Garen for the exact reasons they said. easier to focus on fundamentals, easier to improve fundamentals
Your best guest so far he is such an entertainer. You played so well off eachother
Chimera gaming pad for the win
16 fully customizable macro buttons, with a thumb clip for joystick (emotes) and space bar. It's so good
I use my side mouse button to lock and unlock camera.
