Just did this I was tank I have no clue if I was tethered I don't think I had it once might have been lucky, some big explosion went off and I never died but I don't think I touched an orb all fight, we hit pretty hard though second set of adds wasn't even a thing, glad it's over, thx for the guides
You don't explain why the tank is picking up Lightning Orbs every once in awhile. I've only ever tried this on Extreme (as far as I recall) and remember there's a tank-swap mechanic having to do with them. Doesn't SEEM like that exists on Hard.
There isnt. Hard only requires orbs to be picked up by one of the people who has the tether to break the link. They still can be picked up and provide a damage reduction buff but it isnt needed any more. Just be careful to not get more than 3 if you do get them or you will get a damage amplification debuff instead.

Tanks don't receive the teacher generally. It's almost always a healer and DPS. For normal they are the only ones who needs orbs.
