Bury fisher under the new construction
😂
Lmfao. Bury the leftist establishment you people probably voted for. It's a domino effect my man. The city goes to shit, crime rates spike, homelessness and criminals take over, then all your teams skip town. Whats even more pathetic are the people who support the boycott in the first place thinking its going to do anything. 😂
@@raj8294
Even better bury john fisher and rob Manfred under new construction
@@msn64man1 put kaval and Wolff with em
It’s crazy to me how Sacramento will have a professional sports team and Oakland won’t ??? 5 years ago nobody would have never thought this😊
GOTTA LOVE IT WHEN UA-camRS MAKE MORE SENSE THAN CITY DEVELOPERS
You have to remember in the 1960s and 70s, Some teams moved from the downtown to areas with large amounts of land for parking and more accessibility to the suburbs. Shea Stadium, The Vet, RFK, Oakland Coliseum, Kauffman Stadium, (Royals stadium at the Time), etc. At the time that was the trend. Now it is the reverse with many teams now wanting to go downtown or the city centers.
Why didn't you mention Candlestick Park? It was one of the first stadiums built away from the city, on the literal edge of San Francisco. Seals Stadium was two miles from the Financial District, had public transportation. That's the thing about Oracle Park: it has access to multiple public transport options, whether Muni, Caltrain, the ferry, BART and the Muni.
@@ldfreitas9437 That was the etc part. There are also Olympic Stadium, Arlington, San Diego and others. Was just giving examples.
Anaheim too
The only thing that could help the Oakland Athletics; is an owner who actually gives a 💩 about keeping the team in Oakland, AND actually making them competitive.
Good idea none-the-less!
Oakland is a money ball team
@@IkilledColMustard yeah, that's kind of the point. They don't have to be, or probably shouldn't be.
I always thought the former Alameda Naval Air Station would be a good spot for a new A's stadium (see the former runways). Lots of land out there and the stadium would be next to the water with great views. The big problem would be the commute in and parking. An option would be putting a connector between the stadium and 880 which would cost lots of money.
It's not possible. The best area belongs to the VA veteran affairs as they will be building a new clinic there
Until BART or commuter rail is extended to Alameda (google Link21 plan), former Alameda NAS/Alameda Point won’t have the transport infrastructure for a major event facility like a new stadium.
When the River Cats started here in Sac there were plans and blueprints to turn their stadium into a major league level venue in case the Oakland-Alamedia County stadium got worse and the A's wanted to leave Oakland. But now they're the Giants club so that out of the question
I think both of your options are good ones. But I also agree with those who say that a new owner is really needed to get any of this done rather than move to Las Vegas.
Nice piece of history. What a shame that the original location was not selected.
Brilliant idea Brodie
Oakport location was probably selected because of more land for an Arena and ro get traffic away from downtown.
I've been saying this Laney shit for like 6 years, it's horrible use of land to have a community college on a huge amount of prime real estate in downtown Oakland, just put a new stadium there and move the campus to the coliseum site. Unfortunately this isn't SimCity 2000 and it'll never happen.
SIMCITY - Outstanding Reference!!
There is nothing wrong with the current location. Why the fixation with water? Tons of real estate there that could be developed in a great way. 880/BART/Amtrak/Airport. Coliseum City was a great idea. Funny how Kaval/Fisher needed all that room and water and now, neither in Vegas.
Joe Lacob, are you reading this? Cool idea. It may take at least 5-6 years but is doable. Laney will get a state of the art campus, and maybe some residential, retail and commercia built into the mix.
In that mockup where it crosses the highway, home plate would be facing the opposite direction of where it's supposed to be with the views you describe. You'd run into sun. Southpaws arms are to the south so that batters aren't dealing with the sun in their eyes.
I like the Laney idea. The campus is about 50+ years old. Rebuilding it on the Coliseum site would increase parking, allow room for student apartments, and provide an upgrade over the present buildings.
The Port of Oakland owned the current Coliseum site and sold it to the city and county. No notice was given to the homeowners in the Lockhaven neighborhoods about an entertainment complex to be built. My parents bought our home on 66th Avenue in 1961. My dad was furious that no notice was given to homeowners about this project and the public housing that was going to be built. Later on the city council tried to swing the position stating the same old BS of : Jobs, neighborhood growth, etc. The only thing that has changed is the BART addition. But I do agree that Laney College could use a new location. The lower level classrooms are scary, it is not ADA friendly and is particularly ugly. By moving it to the Coliseum, it would be closer to communities in San Leandro-Lorenzo, Castro Valley and still have access to BART and potentially a transit hub. You could build at the same time. Merritt, Berkeley and Alameda Colleges could take the transfer schools A better consideration than Howard Terminal.
Laney College?! Wasn't that battle already lost a few years ago? Doubt it can be brought back to life, even under new ownership
In that case, Laney College wasn't getting much. Now they would be getting 100% brand new with room to grow. I think it would be great for both sides.
I heard that GOLDEN GATE FIELDS in Berkeley is closing for good by next year, how about that site? Will it be big enough for a ballpark? Check it out and tell me what you think. 🤔👍
Brodie did a video on that a while back. I would LOVE that site, but traffic already sucks in that area and would have to be resolved.
Why can't that empty land diagonally across from the currenty Coli land be used as well? It's on the water and similar size as the current land. Why not develop both? Get a giant LA Live District going. With just the current land it already dwarfs LA Live lol. Imagine is being double... You could have a giant convention center for NorCal, something Moscone, Sac or SJ's doesn't really do at the moment, they're just decent sized. Convention center... Hotels... commercial... a couple stadiums/arenas... This location COULD be something if people actually wanted to develop with the city apply for grants AND spending the general fund on in. We need buku dollars to turn this place into some tax revenue epicness. Nothing wrong spending our taxes on this if we get something huge aka a GIANT DISTRICT.
I don't think the problem is the location of a 55 year old stadium; it's building its replacement.
For one thing-- the loan to build Mt. Davis is still being paid off by the City of Oakland (Alameda County sold their share of the site to pay off the rest of its obligations).
Busch Memorial stadium was built in downtown St. Louis. I don't feel like it dramatically increased the appeal of downtown and it had to be replaced with two stadiums (one 9 blocks away).
And baseball (and probably sports fans in general) enjoyed looking out at the Oakland Hills in the 80s.
Oakland would've needed to do something with the stadium/ arena in the 90s. And if they did something similar, I think we'd still be in this situation.
Hey Brodie that is a great idea for a new ballpark! A waterfront view is the best. I'm really hoping for a miracle and the Vegas deal falls through. Your You Tube videos are the best so insightful. I hope it continues if by chance the A's leave.
appreciate that. future is very much undecided.
Brodie, you crazy son of a gun... I'm in!
Two very cool ideas. If those were the choices, obviously the second option would be the more realistic, but the Laney College swap would result in a beautiful location for a ballpark. Unfortunately I don't see anything stopping the Las Vegas move.
I'm still not convinced AL west owners want to give the A's free access to an upgrade in their revenue situation. Not convinced nl west want to give the giants the bay all to themselves.
Ironically, the A’s at one point just a few years ago were heavily trying to acquire land from the Peralta College District to build a stadium just a few blocks down from the original proposed site from 1960. It obviously didn’t pan out.
It’s a shame that even back then Oakland city leadership could not make better decisions. The Coliseum at Lake Merritt would have easily been the best view in sports, and would’ve been considered the influencer for later stadiums such as Oracle Park and PNC Park which are now renown for their waterfront views. I do wonder though if they would have still built the arena at the Lake Merritt site. Though they eventually left, having the Warriors in Oakland for almost 50 years was a huge source of pride for Oakland native and residents. Without the Coliseum Arena, the Warriors would not have moved to Oakland, and may not have even stayed in the Bay Area as even then Cow Palace was inadequate.
Laney College would’ve been much more impactful (than the Coliseum) to the East Oakland community at large had it been built at the Coliseum site.
It’s wild how one decision, or stroke of a pen, could completely change the course of Oakland’s pro sports future. It also sucks that as great an idea as swapping the locations would be, it won’t ever happen.
Thanks, Brodie, for bringing this up. I firmly believe the Laney College site is the best for everyone. Question becomes, how to get the politicians to see this.
take the politicians to a game at Fenway… downtown ballpark. the mass transit in and out of the stadium. let them see the NUMEROUS bars and restaurants that surround the stadium, all brimming with college students and young adults… during a down year for the redsox, fenway and those bars are filled to capacity. the laney college location could serve similar for the A’s, just as Mr Brazil proposed. The city would have a new and nearby college, connected to mass transit. the city would have their tax base income stream from the bars, pubs, and stores that are connected to downtown oakland. this is a no brainer. excellent work mister Brazil!
I never understood why they didn’t build more entertainment around San Leandro Blvd and 71st.
I mean do you really want to build another stadium on the streets of SL, albeit the very north of SL?
It’s also sorta too late to look into redeveloping sites into Oakland with this ownership group cuz they aren’t looking at Oakland anymore.
Thanks Brodie. 🤯
If the Athletics played in a spaceship they could move games from Oakland to San Jose to Reno. It would be lit af
There was also the area around or just north west of brooklyn basin...in fact brooklyn basin couldve included this ball park.
Laney site is interesting. Coliseum was probably built on Oakport site due to BART
bart didn't exist back then
if this was Sim City we could totally do it
I was hopeful of the Laney spot. Howard Terminal was my second choice
So tow the Oakland coliseum from its present location to new location
The major caveat with this scenario is the cost. Nobody can tell what the cost would be and who would pay it. With our present economy in free fall, the cost of materials alone would be staggering. You can plan till the cows come home but nobody can put a realistic price tag on the finished product. As a taxpayer who got screwed by the Raiders and Al Davis, along with the politicians who brokered that deal, I do not want to get stuck paying 1 cent for any of this - especially for a ball park that by the time it would open, I would not be able to afford the price of admission. No thanks, Ill pass.
You'd still have a issue now with a 55 year old multipurpose stadium with no parking!
The minutes for this council meeting exist, someone should go down to city hall and do some research... I like the idea of closer to the estuary but the Laney swap is more practical.
I don’t know about anyone else on here but when I go see a sporting event I don’t go to see mountains or water or buildings I go to see a game 🤷🏽♂️.
So all we’re waiting for is the owners to vote no?? Being a life long A’s fan would be sad to see them leave to tha desert and if I were living in Vegas I’d be pissed to have a team move rather than get a brand new expansion team 🤷🏻♂️ Let’s Go Oakland!!! 👏🏼👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Oracle with those other two circles look like Mickey Mouse. Fitting for the ownership
Futuristic technology needed
How about a new owner and new ballpark at the olr Raiders training facility in Alameda ? I recall Gallo offered it to the current A's big wigs...
Good info, only makes sense if A’s leave and Oakland gets an expansion team. Why don’t you look at potential South Bay locations that are within the A’s territorial rights? Or are you too rooted in Oakland because of your job? Would you accept an expansion team in the South Bay?
Build a sphere 2 there with mixed use community. Leave a space for a baseball stadium in a park.
I'm all in if the A's stay in Oakland
I don’t think “Ballpark with a View” was ever in consideration in 1960. Even into the 70’s they were building the cookie-cutter stadiums it really wasn’t until Camden Yards that the viewing beyond the park itself from the seats was taken into consideration.
Peralta site failed already.
Would have been a great idea but, too late.
Unfortunately.
How I see this going is that Oakland gets the PCL team for one of the expansion teams coming in the next few years. How that would be received is TBD, but it'll be some sort of attempt at a make good.
I personally don’t want an expansion
They leave us and all the love and support that was here they and mLB are dead to me
People wanted to tear down Fenway and Wrigley before they were baseball heaven. I think Oakland Coliseum could face a similar renaissance with renovation and some vision from ownership.
They can start by tearing down Mt. Davis. The coliseum was better prior to that being constructed.
@@m.kennedy342 Oh mos def. The Angels renovated the Big A in 1996/97 for approx 100 million.
I don't know who's idea this was, but I like the swap. And with Oakland rebuilding it's downtown area, can only help that whole area. The College will be bigger and newer, with more parking. Not an A's fan, but the fans deserve a team, The A's Team doesn't deserve such a good fan base, and they won't get that kind of loyalty anywhere else. Definitely Not Vegas.
So like the athletics and giants switch stadiums for a day
Hmmm, interesting ideas!!! But will they work???
Frank Yuell field,
Brodie Brazil has officially lost it. He has thrown away almost anything close to what is possible in reality simply because he is upset the A's want to move to a better place. Real world costs and practicality are no longer relevant. This is his channel, and I am fine with his creative thinking as an emotional outlet. At least he was able to make an entire video without bashing the ability to get a new ballpark done at the Tropicana site. But if Brodie is going to do more of these unrealistic hypothetical scenarios, I would hope he would create one for a ballpark in Fremont. Sure, the original land site for Cisco Field is no longer available. (I look at the warehouses built on that land whenever I take my vehicles to get serviced at Lexus of Fremont.) But there is still a lot of empty land a quarter mile to the southeast where Brodie could draw in a theoretical ballpark for me to look at.
Aren't you just a troll that lost your 2010 election?
Haha. Exactly. Stop hating on Brodie. A’s fans love him.
Brodie, we love you. But this is nuts.
It’s supposed to be.
Sounds like an expensive proposition.
Laney site is my favorite, but man building a new campus and a new stadium seems expensive. Is Laney College obsolete, do they even need a new campus?
Why is the lake brown?
That would’ve been a better location, but the Raiders still would’ve built Mt. Davis ruining it.
Yes
My man wants to call a do over...
But aren’t the A’s moving to Las Vegas?
Why is the water brown?
The San Joaquin Delta feeds directly into the San Fransisco bay. Being the lowest point in the delta means everything upstream makes its way into the bay.
This also includes stormwater run off, all the sediment and material that enters the waters upstream ends up in the bay. So after sustained heavy rain entering the delta the bay turn brown due to spikes in sediment deposits.
Or they could build a new stadium on the exisiting parking lot of the coliseum and tear down the old one and develop that
At least you're thinking creativity.
SAN JOSE

💐
Brodie we don't have a team...
The whole idea of multi purpose stadiums has been shown to be flawed. Kansas City got it right in those days.
Las Vegas A's??? As long as the cash registers ring!!! It sucks!!! It sucks to the max!!!
Insane idea. But the community college does not make sense at the colosieum site
because...?
Yeah just put the colosseum on wheels and drive it over, easy pz
why don't the A's just move to Vegas or London?
I think santa clara by the new 49ers stadium would be nice are for the new stadium. They could share the parking with the 9ers and it moves the team from oakland which has deteriorated over the years.
First comment 🙌🏼
You are really reaching for the clicks.
This guy Brazil in 2022 said 15 billion dollar Howard Terminal had 80% chance of being built. So it is what it is with this guy. I am just saying Brazil should at least take some responsibility for his part in this massive Fischer misinformation campaign.
Both ideas are kind of dumb
Why should kids going to Laney have to travel so far away to get to school? I think there's another community college not that far from the San Leandro - Oakland border area: Chabot.
Your idea about Golden Gate Fields has credibility. This doesn't pass the smell test.
