Thanks for the easy instruction. iPad Pro is inexpensive if bought second hand is a high quality monitor for the Raspberry Pi 4. Older Apple devices with lightning work as well, but I ve read that the interned connection does not work over cable, so another WIFI connection is required. I miss a mobile device with a Raspberry Pi zero 2 w which is small and portable, but the only candidate phone which should work is the iPhone 15 which will come out soon, but is a very expensive solution.

so you missed a HUGE STEP... how do you connect to the raspberry pi from the iPad? what IP do you use? how is networking done? instead... "just connect to it"... good job... you could have shortened the video by saying: "just install it and plug it in, and then your done"

I've Raspberry pi 3b+ and an Ipad 9.7 2018 that I want to use for the monitor. what changes i need to do to make it work? I want to use the pi as code-server to remotely connect to my desktop and work on my project with vscode. I saw some videos on youtube but nothing works for me.
since i am using the USB C port to connect to the ipad mini, i can't power the pi 5, will the pi run off of the ipad mini battery? for how long? Is there another way to connect so that I can power the pi 5?
From what I know, this method only works with the Pi 4. The Pi does run off the iPad Mini battery. How long the battery lasts depends on your usage. You can use a USB-C dongle with power input to keep your iPad mini charged and power the Raspberry Pi.

Thank you very much. I need some tries and first did not keep enough attention where i have to insert the code and failed. After a second try and going trough step by step i was able to get it all working. When i connect my usb Hup to the ipad. I am able to connect Power, a Display over HDMI and the pi over a USB Cable i picked from a Samsung SSD and a USB-C to A adapter. This works for the SSH connection and to power up the pi. I think it will not be working with every adapter. Now i only need a strong enough power supply. At the moment i am using the one of my thinkpad. I think i will buy an used 60w from Apple.
This was great, except you blew right past the step about SSHing to the Pi, though maybe this tutorial was not meant for complete newbs like myself. How do you do that and from where, what was that blue screen program?

Excellent video, but when I try to connect using VNC I get "The port on which the computer is listening for a connection could not be contacted". I do not have any firewall or restrictions on my LAN. Any ideas?

Yes it can the pi 400 is the pi 4 but cpu has tiny diff and spread out so yes it will most likely try it

The iPad powers the Pi and they communicate via the cable. A thunderbolt cable works best for this.

when I downloaded the Raspberry Pi imager it only asks me to select the device the OS system and the storage there is no settings logo what do i do?

does this work with a lightning port?
Yes but it’s a bit messy. You’ll need the Apple Lightning to USB Camera adapter and a USB hub.

To ssh to the pi, wouldn't you need to connect the pi to the same network as the iPad though? That hasn't been explained
Never mind, figured out the usb c cable enables the two to be connected via a virtual ethernet.

Did you enable VNC first? You should be able to ssh into your pi and then enable it.
