I enjoy that you say the phrases at speed, as well as slowed down. It is nice to hear the break down of sounds, but it really helps to have a target speed for fluent speech as well.
The good thing is that you don't only recite these sentences, you also explain a bit of structure, I like that! I practise several languages and watch loads of videos on UA-cam about them, but that is rarely done, thumbs up !
As a Greek, this is very helpful for everybody , This was very interesting to watch even if i am already Greek and i know that language very well. 4 years after and i am still surprised! If someone is a foreigner here , i *HIGHLY* recommend you to study and learn from this video 💜 Well done again
I feel honored to have the chance to learn through your excellent channel a fascinating mother language. Yes, Greek should be in the school curricula of all decent schools. A true classic. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I actually thank you I'm Greek and I actually don't know that people like Greek I just yeah you know I'm actually a Greek student so yes I just never thought I'm used to talking more English Korean and French
I would say schools should teach the ancient Greek language - I have done a short course of Ancient Greek in high school and Latin. I also did one year of Latin in University. The roots of many European languages are based in Greek and Latin. This helped me learn Italian, French, some Spanish and German. I can carry an informal conversation in Greek without difficulty, but when listening to Greeks speaking with one another it is very difficult to catch up with the speed they speak. Να είναι καλά.
Dear Lina, thank you so much for taking the time to produce these powerful lessons. I moved near Nafphlio 2 years ago. Although I have learned more than I ever thought that I could, I'm restricted because I have yet to get my national Greek visa. So, I come back to my non Greek speaking country and don't use my adopted language. So I thank you for helping me study and hear and speak Greek. Phrases works best for me. Again, efcharistol para poly! (not using my Greek phone so I'm sure I misspelled this)
Hi Lina. I am so glad to see you recognize my comment. 7 years here now. My Bronx accent when I speak Greek makes everyone laugh, and I then get the gentle correction. I'm still here with you.
Hi friends! Tell me what you think of this video! They may take a little more time to make and edit but I love this kind of videos myself, when studying a foreign language.
I am so happy to have found your videos, my great grandparents came to USA from Greece & I have always wanted to learn Greek, but the family that actually knew & spoke it were all passed away before I was born. Simanteris is my family name. The way you teach is so easy I can start teaching along w/ myself, my youngest son & my granddaughter (who calls me Yaya, & my husband is Papa, short for Pappous). Such an interesting heritage to have & learn about, my oldest "yios" & I have been studying our heritage for a while, our goal is to eventually visit Greece. And my "yios" got a partial sleeve tattoo w/ "freedom or death" written in Greek letters, (as we learned is the meaning behind the number of stripes on the Greek flag), the words are tattooed inside what looks like old Greek armor, it's very cool!

Hi! I try to make different kinds of videos for different kinds of viewers! Some people come to Greece only for vacation and they need a few basic phrases to communicate. Others study Greek for years and they're very serious about it. I just don't want to disappoint anyone and I share as much as I can! :)
Γεια σου Lydia! Thank you so much! I hope you'll allow me a small correction: "Με βοηθάει." You should use the accusative case of the personal pronoun with the verb "βοηθάω". 😊
Hello Bill, You are not the only one . Im planning a trip back to Greece after 40 Years. I don’t speak Greek but I find this site fascinating. The pronunciation is very hard.
It’s brilliant. I tried to get this via an app as I spend lots of time running. I need something I can press play on and just listen to whilst I run / walk.
Thanks so much for this. It's the most helpful way of learning Greek I have found. I really like the way you explain each phrase and the grammar. Please keep posting these videos
Learning different phrases before visiting a country is so much fun,, we did this before visiting Italy and France and now we are going to Greece,, the only problem i found is that i was good enough in asking someone in Italy where the restroom was that she answered me in Itialian,, and i immediately said out loud " I have no idea what she just said ' LOL fortunately she understood enough english to point in the direction for me ,,, hahaha,, so remember ,, learing to speak, might also entail learning to understand the response ,,,
Hello Jackie! This is indeed a much-discussed issue on my channel! I usually encourage my students to practice their pronunciation before anything else. It's not difficult at all and it solves some practical issues. But since this video is addressed to tourists too, I think you 're right! I 'll keep that in mind for my next phrase video, and I 'll try to write a post on my blog for this one too. Thanks for the feedback!
I've enjoyed every minute of it. I think it would be even better if you include some substitution drills with lexical chunks, for example: I would like a cup of coffee/glass of water/bowl of soup/ etc. By providing such lexical frames learners remember better and get the feel of the communicative function. Hello Lina. Thanks a lot for making & sharing this video with us. I find it to be easy to follow & very encouraging to learn more. The main difficulty for me is the greek alphabet. Hello, Dave! I'm so glad you enjoy my videos. The good thing about the alphabet is that there is only one way to pronounce each letter. I would suggest that you watch my pronunciation playlist, for the few extra pronunciation rules (vowel & consonant combinations). If you learn all that, you will be able to read anything. And after that everything else will be much easier. I lived in Thessaloniki for 5 years during my studies, it's one of the most beautiful Greek cities. Thank you very much for watching! 😀😊
