  • Can a cheap lens for your camera really be worth it? Well, I guess that depends on the lens, but in this case.......yes!

    Holy crap, I was not expecting to learn so much in this video. I have a friend who is a professional photographer who has taught me a lot of the basics, as well as some deeper stuff like bokeh and lens types, but that was really interesting.
    I don't particularly mind what content you come out with, but I will definitely be paying attention to any more videos talking about photography or video editing, I'd love to learn more about either of those things.
    Keep up the good videos!

      Leviathan431 thanks man! I’m glad you liked it and learned some things, that was my whole goal with this video! I’m already planning my next product review and some tutorial videos. I’m also working on a short little travel video I filmed yesterday with the family. We went up to northern Arizona to escape the heat and the city for a few hours. I think I got some cool shots and I took a drone! Stay tuned and thanks for supporting the channel! 😜🤘👏

      Hahaha, I don't blame you. I'm from Australia where it's finally starting to cool down after a hot summer.
      Oh, I just looked up ND lenses, I never thought you'd need less light in a shot. It makes sense, though can't you just adjust the light in the edit and get at least almost the same effect?
      Ooh, that reminds me, I had some rolling shots taken with both my and my buddys IS's, so I'm hoping they turn out good.
      Well, I'm looking forward to seeing what you come out with next! See you next week 😁

      Aaron Meyers A little off subject, but have you by any chance used the 35mm yongnuo? I've got a cropped sensor and a 35mm is equivalent to a 50mm (Estimate) for me, would it be good still for landscape photography do you think?

    I purchased the nikon NIKKOR 1.8G last night, still awaiting delivery, I purchased because I wasn't sure if buying the clone would be false economy, I wish I had found this review yesterday! Never mind I can't go wrong with the original, got it at half of its original price and was described 'like new'.

      I agree. People should mention this distinction. As the two are very different. This Yongnuo version is both superior optically and build wise compared to the canon counterpart Yongnuo or not. And is about 20$ more expensive. Downsides of YN compared to Nikkor are: YN is a lot louder, focuses slower, and I don't know if it has autofocus override. Nikkor also has just a slightly better contrast, much less flares and is sharper. But is also 3 times more expensive. Who can, should definitely get one of these. Optically the difference is virtually indistinguishable.

    So I bought the Yongnuo 50mm, the Nikkor 35mm 1.8g (new 130$ ebay) , and the nikkor 50mm 1.8g (almost new, 115$). While the side by sides at first look *almost the same, the more you look at them, the more the differences stand out. The Yonguo is much softer, and does not have the sharpness that the Nikkor lens have. The contrast and colors are also better on the Nikkor... HOWEVER, my real gripe was with the autofocus. I bought the Yongnuo on 12/2018, so I have the updated firmware. The autofocus with my D3200 was spotty. It was slow, missed often, and would just stop focusing after 1 or 2 adjustments. It was also super loud. My nikkor lens focused much better and faster, so I returned the yongnuo and kept the Nikkor lens'.
    So for a beginner photographer looking just to mess around, maybe get the Yongnuo (esp for $40 if you have canon), but really I would recommend you buy both and the same time, test them, then return the one you dont like.
    In the end, I could've gotten over the image quality difference, but the autofocus missing, going slow, then not working was what led me to return the Yongnuo...

    • @AaronFilmsStuff
      @AaronFilmsStuff  5 років тому

      Stanson yes the auto focus is very loud and can be slow at times.

    A 50mm lens is a 50mm lens regardless of the crop factor. What does change is the apparent angle of view.
    In this case the 50mm has the same field of view on aps-c as a 75mm does on a full frame.

    Sir, It would be of great help if you can directly compare this lens with the one it has copied from, i.e. the Nikon 50mm f/1.8g. That most probably ought to be better and polished of course given the Nikkor branding. But by how much? That is the question.

    Hello. I want to buy this glass (yongnuo 50mm 1.8 i or ii) and camera. I hesitate between the Canon 7d or the Nikon d3400. As a professional, maybe you could advise me which camera will be better. I like the 50mm focal length on the aps-c. I do mostly portraits. Nikon is younger, smaller, more modern and has a larger sensor. Will the picture and bokeh be better in Nikon or Canon? Thanks in advance for the information.

      if you love primes go with 24mm 2.8 stm(great for street photography)
      if you want versatility, go with sigma 17-50 2.8 (great for events)
      if you want more bokeh go with the sigma 50 1.4 or an 85 1.8 by Canon
      if you wanna try another view or perspective, go with the canon 10-18mm

      All Nikon DSLRs use the same F mount. Full frame and cropped sensor cameras can use the same lenses like the YN50. . Just make sure that the version of the lens you get is made for Nikon. They also make a version for Canon cameras too, they use a different mount. Also, mirrorless cameras use different lenses from DSLRs regardless of brand. There are adaptors that will allow you to use DSLR lenses on mirrorless cameras.

      I left most of "photography" groups i was in. It was less on helping each other but more on flexing expensive gear and laughing at people with less expensive gears. After i left, i never looked back.

    Could someone get a set up for video for a very affordable price? What is the lowest price you think someone can go with as a beginning set up?

    • @AaronFilmsStuff
      @AaronFilmsStuff  6 років тому

      Martin Ramos absolutely you can! My setup is in no way expensive or “pro”. Get what you can afford and start making content. Learning composition, how to use your camera, and story telling are more important than image quality and high grade gear.

    If if i use it with crop sensor camera will focal length change to 75mm due to crop factor? Or this lens is made for crop sensor camera (nikon DX) ?

      anirudh ogrey to the best of my knowledge it is not made for crop sensors so you would have to factor that in.

    Aww and ND Filter.. I've been meaning to make one. Budget ND setup. Get the $37 zomei 72mm variable ND Filter on Amazon and get a stepdown ring kit. That way you can use the same variable ND Filter on every single lens. It's a great cheap hack.. as opposed to paying over $100 for tiffen ND filters for each lens.

    • @AaronFilmsStuff
      @AaronFilmsStuff  6 років тому

      Billy Brandon I actually already have a 58mm variable ND that I might use for the review. It’s also a cheap one but honestly really good and very handy!

      rajesh mandlik if you buy the version for Nikon F Mount then yes it will fit your D3300. They make this lens for several popular camera manufacturer mounts, you just need to order the one for your mount style.

      @@avg4570 nope. not true. depth of field is the same. you will see the same blur. same pic just croped. a 50MM is a 50MM does not matter where you engaged it.

    • @avg4570
      @avg4570 5 років тому

      FredJoan Music I never mentioned depth of field. A cropped 50 mm Has the same field of view as a 75mm (approx) in full frame. (80mm for canon due to the larger crop).
