Lockhart's Raven are one of the best looking Made in Canada rifles.. ive been interested and following the rifle for over 6+ years. Unfortunately it took to long to be released to the public so I bought a FX-9 and RDB instead.

lefty here love the gold version. charging handle on the right side, dremel and blued a bolt hold open that I don't really use. the mag release is a easy fix with extended buttons. and you can bolt on a very large pedal. I use my right thumb for mag release.
ver since the gen2 bolt carrier there has been no issues. Ive got over 10k rounds through mine without any issue, not even a double feed or anything. Bought my fiancé one and she also has had a flawless track record with hers. Being an ar15 engine on the inside, not much to really go wrong, its a tried and true engine. Just a couple things are slightly modified to get around legalities.
Hi Adriel, stoked to see the Raven content! I'm curious what items/fixtures you used to secure it while installing the barrel nut? I've heard that many AR specific solutions won't work/can cause damage.
its a solid rifle but needs a lot of parts added to be good. new trigger pack, new barrel, rear charging handle, bolt release, extended mag release, and then a more ergonomic stock and grip, also a muzzle device as they dont come with one. either way still looking at 2.5-3.5k after everything is done. also would have been nice if they had captive pins.
Please tell me how many rounds I might expect to get from the piston in my Wk 180 Gen2. I saw one of yours you showed, and it looked like it did quite a few before bending!
you can get a beautiful SKS for $600cad and a 600rd spam can of 7.62x39 for $200 =) fancy gear can come after the commitment, for now just practice your breathing, form, target acquisition, etc. If 30cpr is too expensive, 22lr is another good way to train (and less reloading in Canada!)
depends what type of gun and caliber. if you are poor its basically 22lr rifles and sks's in 7.62x39. maybe some lower end 9mm carbines like a highpoint or used sub 2000.
Is anyone using this 5.56 for longer distances?....I see just LVPO's on them. I have a S&B 5x25x56 with a Spuhr mount that is currently homeless. Was thinking of putting it on this gun as I do not have a 5.56. Think this would be easier on ammo costs, my wife could shoot it, and I don't plan on shooting it further than 500 yards. Any one shooting this gun longer range? I would have the 18.6" barrel if I get it. I am stuck in Canada, so my 5.56 options are limited.
Well the crypto doesnt have an frt so it technically could be banned at any second, also it takes proprietary mags so it all depends how much you want to risk.
Also worth noting PSA and irunguns are importing their guns. So the raven and those 2 will be competing for dominance here. Wk and the rest are gonna die out soon enough
The Jakl will be good but you can't swap barrels as easily on it and it has a few other proprietary parts as well. The road to getting an FRT and starting production to export to Canada is a long and windy one.
I appreciate the "I don't care if it gets scratched or if I have to grind the lower to make it fit me" attitude, excited to see some match footage!

I originally bought the Raven to replace my AR15 but then bought more kits and uppers to utilize my AR15 parts. I can’t wait for the 22LR conversion.

got mine yesterday !!! can't wait for this weekend !!!!!!! pretty happy with it, the waiting was REALLY long tho.

Ohh snap! You can put in a shorter than 18.6" barrel. That is awesome. I miss my 16" AR-15.
Apparently AR10 top charge handles will work in the raven after some modification
DPMS Gen2. Which. . .still cost like $200.
The DPMS gen 2 specifically, which is $200, around the same as the Lockhart talon gen 2

You mentioned it had a single stage 3lb trigger, but what trigger exactly did you go with in the end? Trigger Tech?
Yep, the Triggertech single stage 3.5lb duty AR trigger.
Still feels pretty good and is almost a third the cost of their high end diamond line. Definitely recommend.
do they sell stripped upper? I want to build my own complete upper
I tend to get non-beaver tail grip because my tiny hand wont be able to reach the mag release with the tail. :(

It varies. Might take 300 rounds, might take 5000.

What makes this not an AR-15?
"AR-15" at this point is a system revolving around a compatible upper and lower. This upper and lower is not AR15 compatible.
