Interesting fact, Titanic actually had more lifeboats than what was required by the safety regulations of the day. It was also the press that said the ship was “practically unsinkable,” not the ship’s builders.
@@helpfulhistory The Board of Trade were very tardy in updating their regulations. The designer of the Olympics, Alexander Carlisle, expected them to act, and included in his design the capacity to carry more boats, but the BoT simply did not update their regulations.
My year 6 primary school teacher once held a lesson teching us the conspiracy that the olympic was the boat that actually sank, and I believed that well into my teens...
On the subject of hubris, isn't it strange that the ship and it's sister ship were named after Ancient Greek Mythology and the Titanic's story was almost like an Ancient Greek tragedy/morality play in the same vein as Icarus 🤔
I have never clicked play on a video so fast.
Your videos really are great, so thankyou❤

So strange that the requirements at the time still just weren’t enough to save everyone isn’t it.
Ahh thank you for clarifying!

Very engaging style. I appreciate your effort and amount of information.
Thank you so much!!
I find the aftermath about the titanic so fascinating. They made a movie about it like 2 months after the sinking with a survivor as the lead actress
Did they? That’s crazy!
Really informative and good fun

Ohhh controversial. If that’s what you were taught it’s fair enough that’s what you believed lol
How unfortunate for you that your teacher was a conspiracy fantasist.
