Simply beautiful Jen! You do such a wonderful job on your machines. Whoever wind up with this machine will have a machine to not only sew with, but to pass down for generations to enjoy. You should be very proud of your accomplishments.
Thank you! I love fixing the machines and I am really starting to enjoy making and editing the videos too. In the right light you have to really look, is it black or is it blue?
@Aai Aai Hi! I haven't shipped out of the US at this point. Usually it is because the shipping would just be so expensive. Where are you located? I am pretty sure that the machine is sold which is why it isn't listed on the site at this time. It will show up at some point but it will probably only show up as sold. Sorry about that!
GREAT JOB Jen. That is a gorgeous machine. This is why my machines are still waiting on me lol. My oldest son does custom painted cars, bikes, helmets etc. He is finally at a place where he could paint some for me. He told me a few months ago to tear a few down and get them ready and he would get them done. A few days later he was had an accident and is still down from it. My youngest son resides in same town where I am and is the one that loves to help work on these babies. Oh my gosh..wish we lived in the same area. We would have machine parties.
I don’t think i could sell that one either! It is such a jewel in that perfect shade of blue! I’m glad you found a local autobody shop near you to paint it. I know there is one here in Hagerstown MD that does sewing machines.
Excellent! Someone is going to be very, very happy with that gem. What a marvelous gift it would make for someone. I'm impressed with the paint job and am working up the courage to do it or get someone to do it to one of my machines one day. Perhaps, if you do another one, you could do a little series that shows us how you prepare it for painting, how you put the decals on and how you get it all together again after being painted? And if you could persuade the painters to allow a bit of footage on their painting process too that would be like a cherry on top. Even if they just spoke a bit about the process and explained a bit about various considerations someone getting a machine painted needs to think about before they approach an auto-painter I'd be chuffed to bits.
I learned so much in the process. The next machine I will personally tape and plug all the holes. That was one thing I learned with this one. I had to clean out a lot of holes and remove paint in different areas because just a tiny layer of paint can affect clearances. You can see in the picture where it is ready for the decals, there was paint where the needle plate sits. Had to remove that before the needle plate went back on. I guess I just assumed they would plug the holes and they didn’t but, thinking back on it now…how would they know where paint could and couldn’t go? So, if you have someone else paint it who hasn’t ever touched a sewing machine, be ready to be the sewing machines advocate. Haha. I will definitely record more of the process the next time around and if they agree to be on camera I will get the painters input as well!
Megan - I don't watch many other techs on UA-cam, but I wouldn't miss one of Jen's videos for the world. She does wonderful work. She's also a big reason I don't bother to do videos on the 301, I see no need as long as her stuff is here on UA-cam, she's the best!
@@BobFowlerWorkshop Hear, hear! I don't watch many either: you, Jen and Andytube do such a beautiful job that when I try to watch others I find myself talking to the screen and asking it why they're not showing things properly and missing things out. :-)
Oh, my goodness. This blue is incredible. The Singer 301 is my absolute favorite sewing machine. I love everything I've read about it in my research on which vintage machine to choose. I love the industrial design and all of the wonderful features. My mother in law gave me her 1957 Featherweight. It's black and my 301 is mocha. Someday I'm going to paint both of them in a matching color. :o)
Hi, this one sold, yes. I have another painted machine that is almost ready. Should be listed within the next week (fingers crossed) It’s a white 301 and it turned out gorgeous!
Excellent! It looks splendid. What a lovely series you have created for us, so grateful I must get my own 301 now.
I loved this blue 301! I have a pretty tropical themed one for sale now, it is just waiting for the right owner to come along!
What a beautiful machine 😍
It really is!
Wonderful result! Thank you for keeping the machine alive!
Thank you!

Thank you Bob! That's my hope, it is a keeper! Hope you are well, we should catch up soon!
Love the blue paint! You guys produce such excellent films! Thanks!

Beautiful job on all of them… I’ll definitely stay in touch
