She kept her porch light on for years after Debbie went missing in case she came home. For a lot of years it was widely accepted that Bundy was her killer but there was no evidence to prove it and he didn’t confess until right before he was executed.

100% agree. I actually think there should be lessons taught to school kids from a young age, especially young girls, to watch out for warning signs and devious ploys for help, to understand, trust and follow through on instinct and gut reactions and to not trust any stranger implicitly. Bundy was clever and dangerous, and children are naive and easily manipulated. It's just a tragedy that this monster got away with it for so long before being executed.

@@Romulan2469 The thing is not all Bundy's victims were helpers. They never saw him coming. He sneaked up behind one girl as she was walking to her car on the street and bashed her with a tyre iron but before he could bundle her into his car a group of people walked up and saw the injured girl screaming as she lay on the ground and Ted jumped in his car and drove away........the girl was badly injured but survived. His early victims he broke into their basement rooms and bashed them and abducted them while they were unconscious. All that was found were their blood stained beds and pillows and they were never seen again.

@@juanitarichards1074 True, his MO wasn't always the nice approach and unfortunately there were a number of surprise attacks that couldn't be prevented. By the time he had reached Florida he couldn't be bothered with playing it safe and was just busting into places and bashing these poor girls heads in. Still, it helps to be cautious and observant. Bundy typically planned a lot of his abductions, rapes, beatings and murders in advance and could sometimes be seen checking out the area. Even in the Kimberly Leach murder, he had been spotted patrolling outside the school before the abduction happened.

I started law school in SLC in 1975. Another male student who was at least one year ahead of me approached me with a clipboard and asked me to sign a petition on Ted Bundy's behalf because he and apparently other law school friends thought he had been accused and arrested unjustly. I had barely arrived as a freshman. I told him I knew nothing about him and would not sign anything. To this day it gives me the creeps that Bundy was able to fool so many people and how close evil can be to you without knowing.

Bundy was intent on killing someone that day. He was frustrated after the incident with Carol, then this teacher. Aside from the horrific injustice what upsets me is the pain and suffering that the survivors and families feel in the wake of this monster. “If only I did it differently” “if only I’d said something”… the terrible guilt and self recriminations. It’s natural to feel this way but the truth is none of the guilt lies with them, it’s all on that monster and his abuse of human decency.

The teacher is so beautiful, she reminds me of Vivien Leigh. Had she gone with him, it would've been her that night...The tragic part about it is that the two failures Ted experienced that night (Carol escaping and the teacher declining to "help" him) sent him into a blind rage, and I can't even begin to imagine what poor Debra Kent went through because of that. Sometimes the survivors or those who have escaped such dangerous situations suffer the pain of that incident for years to come. I'm hearing the same words from Raelynn Shepherd as I heard from Carol DaRonch, blaming themselves for the murder of the next Bundy victim because they survived and it pains me. I hope they realize that Bundy was an opportunistic killer. If he had killed Raelynn he would have continued to kill other young girls and women, just as he continued to kill after Debbie Kent's murder. She was selected at random because she had to get up and leave the auditorium early, not directly because of Raelynn rejecting Bundy. If Raelynn had been kidnapped by Bundy he could easily have come back and also taken Debbie Kent. Remember Lake Sammamish? He was bold enough to do the same crime twice in the same area.

    • @juanitarichards1074

It wasn't a class room, it was the auditorium where Debbie and her family were attending a school play and all the teachers and actors and coaches were busy with tasks and getting the audience seated etc. Debbies little brother as at a skating rink nearby and Debbie offered to drive over and collect him. When Debbie walked out of the auditorium she didn't notice Bundy following her to the car park......people in neighboring houses heard her screams and looked out their windows but couldn't see the car park. Later the police found a hand cuff key that matched the cuffs on Carol Da Ronch when she escaped from his car earlier that day. The handcuff key was found on the grass verge near the car park where Debbie was abducted.

I believe that while Ted was then sitting in the class room, during the teacher's absence, Ted may have signalled to that girl to meet him outside. Juanita Richards, I watched the video footage again and also consulted Google. Apparently, the teacher made no mention of Debbie Kent's parents, so I was of the opinion there was a different girl. Thank you for your contribution which has brought some relief. Nevertheless, I still believe the parents, Vice-Principal and teacher are responsible for Debbie's plight. They were aware of Ted presence on the premises and activities. So, when the teacher recounted that Debbie went out, she was actually following her mother's request. I understand the problems Ted created left an indelible scar on all of us and while I was on the island my heart went out to all of you. Even here I was afraid of Ted. Again, thanks for clearing up this matter because I was extremely upset. I am still upset that Ted had the nerve to approach a teacher twice recognizing he wanted to kill her and sat among the students as that. He had some nerve.🙏🇯🇲♥😢

To take another life, no matter how evil it may end up becoming is still wrong especially if that life is a child, that is unforgiveable. I would try and prevent him from doing any harm to anybody, get him assessed by psychiatrists / psychologists (especially after the knives incident). Why didn't that man go to other men & say we need to keep an eye on that guy? Just goes to show how different life is now compared to the 70s. Before the murders everyone trusted everyone & anyone. These murderers could roam around & do what they wanted. These videos should be shown in classrooms to help young people learn & be careful not to trust a stranger. I can't believe he picked on a school production to be a predator! Breaks my heart for the innocent helpful victims , their families & anyone who came across him who was affected by him like this teacher💔 when I was a little girl in the 70s we used to have wierd men around. My mum had this window cleaner & he used to stare through the window. I used to hide behind the settee. One day I was walking up my street to go to school & I looked across the road then back to where I was walking & the window man just came out of nowhere stood Infront of me , grinned & kissed me on the head. Then he went off. Looking back I always question whether he was a paedophile or how easy that could have been if he had been a child killer to take me. It could be so easy. So I'm not judging or blaming as that is how easy things happen.

The fact that he'd make a failed abduction and murder attempt earlier that day and then IMMEDIATELY drive to Viewmont High School, attempt to lure a teacher and then wind up seizing Debi Kent essentially should tell somebody everything that they need to know about this opportunistic, sniveling little weasel in a capsule. Then poor Raelynne blames herself. Meanwhile, Debi's parents (who from the videos really seem like they were sweethearts) wind up waiting 15 years for a knee patella, and basically 40 years for a DNA identification on that patella. I know this is a gross understatement, but my heart really aches for Raelynne in this situation. I'm just glad she had the life experience, smarts, and intuition to see something was up. That he'd then go and take a child who didn't have that experience doesn't reflect on Raelynne. It reflects on nobody but Ted Bundy. In Utah, he literally killed (at least) 4-5 victims and did the kidnapping inside a five week period. One victim a week is a frenzy, and Raelynne and Carol were both incredibly brave and extremely lucky. I also hope that the administration at Viewmont did what they could to make Raelynne KNOW she was not at fault, since as an educator myself, I know the heavy emotional investment that we make when we enter the profession...

That’s Barbara Grossman. She was the Reporter for KUTV in Salt Lake City. She interviewed Ted in Colorado with Lucky Severson before he escaped. I heard she passed away before Falling for a Killer was released in 2020

@@caroldaronch1974 In 1981 I met Ted Bundy in the death row visiting area at the florida prison where he was executed. I am a 58 year old woman and I remember that ted would always stare at me. I remember seeing Ted's wife Carol visiting with him.

That teacher is a sharp as a polished marble. He just made you feel very uncomfortable a feeling that you never have felt before, yet you see him follow behind a young lady once she gets ups and leaves and you think nothing of it. Thanks alot teacher your brilliance is a reason why debbie kent was brutally murdered. Just shows you being educated and having common sense are not in the same category.

At least she could have followed him out and had a man to walk with her outside,I don't understand that!

If he went after and got 30 plus victims it makes you wonder how many times he struck out.
The reason he went after young girls is because they were young and had no street smarts living in a time when you didn’t need them so much as me might today.
At least this women was smart enough to think that a man asking women for help over men was a red flag and if saved her life.
Bundy was not very smart when you think about it he was Just persistent.
Any fool of man knows that if you ask 10 women out on a date at least one will say yes so he was persistent and went after young girls who were not in positions of authority which makes them easy targets.
They were just young and he used that to his advantage.
What a peace of trash !
