- A promotional "white label", not for sale video tape previewing Hudson's N64 STG/shmup, Star Soldier Vanishing Earth. This entry in the long-running Star Soldier shooter series, a sequel to Soldier Blade, is one of the few shooting games on the N64, this one with a slightly skewed perspective reminiscent of games like Silpheed and RayStorm. The legendary Hudson executive Takahashi Meijin (Toshiyuki Takahashi) makes an appearance here promoting the game, and you even get to see his mythical button mashing skills on full display with an N64 controller.
I'm not sure if this was a tape sent to retailers or was something given to members of the Hudson fan club.

Good looks like always jimmy. Didn’t even know n64 had a shootem up like this. Nice.
Much appreciated--and yeah, there were like...two, maybe three proper shooters on the N64, I think?
This is very cool id love to have a copy of this game at some point. 👍🏻✨️✨️✨️
If you're doing cart-only, should be pretty cheap and easy to find still. Good luck!
I really enjoyed Star soldier when i was a kid. was never really good at it. but i thought it was a decent shump.
Pretty much the only shmup on the N64 besides Dezaemon, I think. And the sparkling gem of a rail shooter known as Sin and Punishment. If you want your STG fix on a 5th generation console, I recommend going with the Saturn and PS1 instead, same with fighting games and RPGs.
Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth is definitely not a bad game but you’ll find way better on the Sega Saturn and the original PlayStation.
Agreed!
