- A VHS tape produced by GTV (Game Tech Video) that was available for sale or rent in Japan, covering all the great releases of the Super Famicom releases in 1992. It consists of 43 game reviews, some extended coverage of Street Fighter II and Super Mario Kart, a look at Mother 2 (Earthbound) and an interview with creator Shigesato Itoi, and rather long quiz game segment...these participants (made up of staff and people from the games journalism industry, I believe) really know their stuff.
The main hosts are the GTV usuals, the lucha wrestling mask sporting Mr. X (Hiroaki Takeuchi), Indoman (Takahiro Tadano), Mika Suzuki and Kouji Watanabe. The Susumu Matsushita created Battery character is also a host and narrator of this video like in may other GTV productions. This program was also published on laser disc.
In addition to the games mentioned above, other titles featured include:
Final Fantasy V (ファイナルファンタジーV)
Dragon Quest V (ドラゴンクエストV)
Wizardry V (ウィザードリィV)
Tiny Toon Adventures Buster Busts Loose (タイニートゥーンアドベンチャーズ)
Psycho Dream (サイコドリーム)
Metal Max 2 (メタルマックス2)
Super Star Wars (スーパー・スター・ウォーズ)
...and so much more.

Apologies for the bad quality in the beginning, things get better shortly afterward. This was originally a rental VHS tape, and rentals often have problems with playback or have degraded significantly more than retail tapes. I didn't know that this was a former rental VHS when I bought it years ago--hopefully I can find a better copy someday (or the laserdisc).
The comments are unhinged haha. I never realized they sometimes bashed the games (in a subtle Japanese way) or peppered in private jokes about how they only included the game in the tape because the PR person of that company is a total babe.
I always appreciate the humorous/creative approach taken in these tapes!
I have seen that bat before. From a Japanese gaming magazine i think. Such an odd nintendo direct. Can say they were better back then.
(Unless you are thinking of an ad for these GT•V tapes) Battory the Bat probably reminds you of Necky the Fox, the mascot of Famitsu, who was designed by the same guy.
@@chazmaru9583Why on Earth does Battery the Bat look like Mickey Mouse in body and Kirby in voice?
Big fan of Susumu Matsushita's work--I'd love to interview him on the main channel one day!
