    Dude, I was honestly thinking about selling mine, but this update totally surprised me, it will hold me over for a while. I too could notice a difference in the latency immediately, I've been gigging with the consistently for about 6 months now

    • @jonhollis2534
      @jonhollis2534 Рік тому +1

      I had huge problems with latency through the system. I guess some people are more susceptible to that than others. anyhow I cured it by not using the cab blocks. take that out and put an IR in there or even an eq and bingo all the latency went away! I like it now.

    Great demo, thanks for playing the MK3 for so long :)
    I love dirty fuzzes and having tested it myself yesterday the MK3 in more extreme settings gives me this fuzzy/'alive' feeling under the fingers. Awesome addition to the QC.

    The best just got better. I already captured my DC30 really well so I'm not that interested in that new amp, but I did sell my Chieftain 20 years ago so I dialed that up and I can't leave it alone so I'll get to the rest later. Listening to you play the DC30 now, I definitely like my capture better.

    Good news for QC users. I have an HX Stomp, but I want the makers of Modelers to succeed, and deliver on the promises they made to their customers. The QC has a particularly nice overall design and size, and has tremendous potential. But, they really need to get that unit up to speed on all the important features users need for a productive and enjoyable experience.

    Understand something my man, one of the huge benefits of digital profiling tech like this is that you aren't bound by the physical limitations of the amp. So sure, maybe the linear volume pot or the tone selector is *different* in reality, being able to have more throw in a volume pot, or to have the ability to fine tune a tone control is a feature, not a downside.
    Does it make it more complex? Yes, but, it's a quad cortex, you're not using it because it's simple, you're using it because it's powerful.
    And make no mistake, you can grab a capture of your matchless with the power tubes at 16w/ea, which will destroy them in a few hours, and then play it -forever- on your Quad Cortex, whereas you'd be lucky to lay down a single track with the real amp in that state before you'd have to replace tubes. You also get a full TMB tonestack to play with, which can really make an amp way more versatile than it is in real life. Keep in mind that the whole point of all of this is tone, not absolute numbers for numbers recreations, and you'll do just fine.

    One thing they've never promised but should've been available since release is MIDI Mapping as they have it on their plugins. And if not that, then it least parameters being assignable to switches since switches are mapped to MID control changes. That they've never had this is why I went for the Helix, and I went for the Helix instead of the FM9 Turbo only because Sweetwater had a very helpful financing option. And no, scenes and snapshots do not provide an alternative when what one wants is variable control over parameters.

    AX8 user here thinking into moving to QC. I know QC sound phenomenal BUT, i love ax8's way of use. One great feature is the XY function that allows me to have two different amps with the same pedals, NO scene mode. I'm old school i don't wanna mess with scenes. Can QC do that with its switching system?

      You can have both. My amps come first and pedals. I haven’t had them that long between this year and maybe ten yrs. I still use them. They take pedals beautifully tbh the quad is the closest thing in feel n sound to an amp. I’ve been through all of them except Axe fx. The only other overlooked modeler is the powered Yamaha 100hd double or single modeler. It feels and sounds great too. $800 new again with power.

    5:30 that could be because your input gain might be set lower than the real amp would recieve it

    • @SteveSterlacci
      @SteveSterlacci  Рік тому

      I use this guitar with every modeler and never have had to adjust the input gain. It would be quite frustrating having to constantly worry about the input gain on every preset. I think because the amp literally has 0 headroom, they maybe added some? I'll experiment more when I do a side by side with the real one ! Thanks for checking out the video

    • @josuastangl7140

      @@SteveSterlacci The input gain on the QC is global and can not be adjusted per preset.
      You're right that it's fair to assume with the default setting it should react like real amps do.
      Still I find it useful to play around with a gain block before the amp to sometimes get more or less breakup. Similar to the input gain on their plugins, which I find very useful.

    • @dorylobel
      @dorylobel Рік тому +19

      Just to offer my perspective, as a professional Neural DSP user, I initially got the QC hoping that I’ll be able to run the plugins on it, but I must say that I think in some ways the QC sounds even better (using the built in models) than the plugins. As for the desktop editor- I think the touchscreen is so responsive and fast, I don’t see how it would speed up the workflow. I’ve been using the QC on NBC’s The Voice for a few weeks now (it replaced a giant tube amp and switching system rig) and I’m loving every second!
      Just wanted to throw this out there because ultimately only one thing matters- the sound and the feel of the unit, and I think too much focus is placed on superficial things like visuals and branding of specific artists (in the Archetype series). I love and use both the plugins and the QC every day, and I’ll welcome having the plugins on the QC, but the unit, as it is now, is already far superior to anything else on the market, in my opinion. Just remember to enjoy it and PLAY! ❤🤘

    • @masterofreality230
      @masterofreality230 Рік тому +1

      @dorylobel Рік тому +7

      @@masterofreality230 sorry, correction- the sound and feel are the only thing that matter to ME, in my own use case (live television performance and recording). I’ve owned every single brand of modeler on the market, but, for me, this is the first product and technology that is not a sonic compromise compared to the best tube amps. To be honest, it might even sound better and more punchy in a mix context, and definitely more consistent than having to worry about aging tubes, bumped microphones, phase issues, noise etc. Out of genuine curiosity- what would a desktop editor offer that you can’t quickly get on the built in interface? All the best!
