Thank you so much for this video! My family has been exploring the Manistee river the past couple couple years by canoe and kayak but this section has been hard to plan with lack of camping options past Tippy. Been loving your videos!

Thank you for watching! Yes, dispersed camping past tippy is tricky, but there are a couple. The campground was okay. Just be aware during salmon run as I mentioned. Could be hard to get a reservation.

I need to get back to Kayaking! Especially an over nighter or two! I have 3 kayaks just collecting dust, lol

Thanks for watching! Happy to hear that you’ve been inspired🙂 it’s (kayak camping) is one of my most favorite adventures. My goal in my videos is to help show others the beauty and possibilities on the Manistee.

@KamieOutdoors would a recreational sit in kayak be adequate? Thank you!

@kimb8348 if it’s for rivers. Yes. My Skylark is considered a recreational kayak too. I like having sealed hatches but my friend secures hers in dry bags on her boat. Equally good. Another friend I’ve kayak camped with had a 10’ kayak and boy he could carry a lot of stuff! Surprised me.

What a trip on the river! Curious how did you portage Tipple Dam? I could see Benita’s wheel dolly, I have the same Eddyline but my wheels don’t breakdown to fit in my kayak.

I used Benita’s when she was done. I have my own but don’t pack it. I haven’t secured it onto my boat yet. I’m thinking I’d have to bungee it on my stern. It’s smaller than hers and folds up nicely. Last portage I did with a couple friends, neither of us had carts. Ugh. We unloaded the boats and carried the gear over first then went back to get the boats and partnered up. It’s a process, for sure!

@@KamieOutdoors I would love to try kayak camping at some point, your video’s inspire. I’d have to bungee my dolly on also, not sure I’d want to do that to my eddyline.

I get that! I have videos from other sections that you don’t need to portage. A great camp spot is 131 campground too. ua-cam.com/video/ck_rBZS4XKc/v-deo.htmlsi=t3W0g9vlT3MHk-hT
