i did that trip alone as a 22 year young boy, in a 16 feet canoe, from minneapolis till new orleans in 4 months, thas was in 1989. thank you for the nostalgie
i know im asking the wrong place but does someone know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
How wonderful that he is giving Veterans those stars. If I had one, I would frame it and hang it on the wall of my woodshop. U.S. Army, Ret. Texas 1963-1983
Wisconsin Kayaker here.... thought this was going to be a bore, was going to select a different video, sure as heck glad I didn’t!! I had a great time with all four of you! Thank you so much for bringing me along! What a great adventure!
What a wonderful production! I came across this by pure luck as I was looking for paddling tips and trips. Thank you for taking the time to put this together.
This is an awesome journey! It's been a real pleasure to watch! Thank you very much and wish all the very best. Greetings from Russia, Saint-Petersburg.
I thank you all for sharing your experience down the mighty missippi river. It was the best documentary I have watched. Especially the surprise ending for me in which you ended up in Morgan City. I took a trip there once when I was a kid with my grampah we drove from California so I could meet some family I didn't even know I had. I remember waterskiing with the alagators and water snakes. What an experience. Thanks again guys it was awesome
Watched a doc on the birthplace of the nile...then I wondered about the Mississippi. Wild Hogs part 2. It all made sense when you disclosed you were a news anchor. Lol great video
Wonderful trip. I just read Eric Severeid's "Canoeing with the Cree," about his trip NORTH from Minnesota to Hudson Bay, taken just after graduating high school.
Great Video. While doing a day paddle on the Mississippi riverfront at Cape Girardeau MO, I noticed 2 great looking boats and 4 very scraggly looking men loaded to the gill and setting up camp at the Red Star boat landing pavilion. This video assures my bet with a friend that happened to be paddling with me that day. You all made it. Congrats. And great talking with you, Paul.
Thank you for the adventure! I came across this by accident and watched the whole thing. I'll probably watch it again. This whole production was very well done. I enjoyed every second of it.
Greetings from Bulgaria, Europe! We watched your wonderful video and dreamed about travelling to America to enjoy the beauty of the wilderness and... the friendliness of the people.
Your experiences with people along the river paralleled mine as I cycled 4,600+ miles from Portland to Boston. City or small town, people were happy to give. Was a treat to watch your journey!
Wow what an adventure, admiration for your time spent on this river trip I would trade a lot for a once in a lifetime trip like this maybe someday whata ya say Jan Schmitkons at 65 years of age God willing we go for it?
Just came across this by chance. What a lovely film. Really enjoyed it. Great to see older guys doing adventurous stuff without the macho attitude of the young. And you met so many lovely people on your journey.
I did over two hundred miles solo on the lower Mississippi back in the eighties. Wish I could do it again. So many wonderful memories. Lot of good folks on the river. Glad you could enjoy it to.
This film came up on my automatic feed after I watched " The Passage," again, a Canoe trip done by my kids, my brother and me of the inside passage along the Alaskan panhandle coastline in the same summer of 2017. There are many chores that need my attention right now but I just couldn't stop watching Mississippi by Caone. The creativity and work needed in trying to condense such a journey into a meaningful and enjoyable hour takes a lot more time than the actual trip for anyone who may not know. I send thanks to all of you for this enjoyable, educational and touching journey. Great job on the editing and story telling. I was hoping that the signed angel canoe paddle might show-up as the credits rolled by at the end.
Holy cow! I’ve watched ‘The Passage’ a few times and I’m sure I’ll watch it a few more. Such an inspiring film. The way your son describes the way he and his brother held your stories to legend status hit home for me. It was so neat to see you tackle that last leg all those years later. Your family’s sense of adventure has inspired me something fierce since I saw that film. Highly recommend it.
This is the greatest vidio I have watch thank youfor sharing adventure. I live in Iowa and have never been to Mississippi watching you guys travel is exciting. Wish I would have got to go with you all. This looked hard but very rewarding to see you jump in the ocean. Glad you all made it safely home .deepest repeat to all 4 of you .Thanks again for shearing .I know in my life I will never do what you guys have done.hope you have more travels in life.It shows 4 friends can do anything at any age love and peace.
"The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" brought me here. This is a great video to remind people like me who might take it into their heads to embark on a trip based more on fantasy than reality.
Well done gentlemen. Great River. I just watched this video from Australia during the virus lockdown on Good Friday. I was interested in the river from the great novels by James Lee Burke (who based his stories down in New Iberia). I also love to paddle and have lived on a river for 50 years. On our longer paddles we always knew to never underestimate the challenge. Cheers JH
Its really impressive to think how the great explorers settlers and conquerors of our past navigated these rivers, especially initial voyages which were often up stream
Thanks for taking us down the Mighty Mississippi with you and passing by my historic civil war town of Vicksburg, MS. I enjoyed watching the video and what a wonderful experience of a lifetime for Y'all. I'm so happy you met angels along the way and what an excellent presentation! Congratulations on an awesome adventure. Marian :)
Paul Thanks for the Video. Reading your posts during the trip was something I looked forwarded to. Now have the video just brings back the excitement and the adventure had because of you. Thanks to you and your partners .
you guys inspired me I am a stroke survivor wishing to follow your journey but considering the great loop im getting emotional just thinking about it, thank you for asharing . yours truly, RSUL L. LOPEZ US ARMY VET 6TH BN, 31ST INFANTRY
Great documentary, Paul. I enjoyed catching your journey as it happened and I think you captured the trip extremely well. My fifth graders study sailing songs as a unit and I can assure you they will appreciate your video.
What a great adventure you guys had. I was looking around online for information about canoe's and which one might work for me when I came across your video. I'm glad I took some time to watch. I live just a few minutes away from Morgan City, LA and I can't imagine what ya'll went through to start way up there and end way down here. Congratulations on doing something that very few of us ever will!
Excellent video. Reminded me of my canoeing days when I lived in Louisiana. My 17-foot Old Town ABS plastic canoe weighed 79 pounds but could take white water and rocks with only minor scratches, something a fiberglass canoe could not survive in. .
Your journey brought back so many wonderful memories of people and places from my kayak adventure in 2012. Thanks for the terrific story-telling and video production. Paddle boldly!
i did that trip alone as a 22 year young boy, in a 16 feet canoe, from minneapolis till new orleans in 4 months, thas was in 1989. thank you for the nostalgie

I'm 5 minutes in and already hooked! My dream is to explore America, such a beautiful land, and rivers! Love from the UK

Clubbed foot keeps me from being a hiking nut but floating the Mississippi is my bucket list trip.
Awesome video, getting myself ready for the MR340 this summer and I can't stop watching videos like this!
