Thank you Dr Dave for all the useful videos. You have helped me a great deal. I learned quite a bit from your book as well, after checking it out at my library over a year ago. The book was so good I bought a copy a couple months back. Thanks man. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
You’re welcome. I’m glad to hear you enjoy and benefit from my stuff. Good luck with your game.
Great information. I believe coronavirus will affect rating systems for awhile for those that can not play or dont have access to a table to practice.
Been watching alot of your videos while I wait for my Olhausen pool table to come in. Learning how to really play pool is complicated. Good detailed videos.
I'm glad you like my stuff. Have fun with the table! BTW, if you want to work on specific things and want more help, this is a good place to start:

Good luck with your game.
Your always sharing informative and helpful tips Dave. 🤓👍
I'm glad you think so. Thanks.
Whew, Gee DrDave, there’s so much to know to understand . And I may or may not had to use your advice or maybe practice my own way. For my ranking system of my pool playing skill, I think it’s somewhere around.........upper intermediate or I like to call it as “Entrepreneur Pool Player”, meaning you practice pool your own way without couching in person, you just look and observe pool players how do they do it on TV billiard tournaments, UA-cam videos, or on book tutorials.
Do you play matches? Just curious. Reminds me, of myself
Thanks Dr Dave!
You're welcome. I aim to swerve. :)
Great video, thanks very much
Thank you, and you're welcome.
The most selfless amazing man in the pool world! Thx again Dr. Dave!
Thank you, and you’re welcome. I aim to swerve. :)
Dave the sound you use in the intro and transitions is ominous and makes me uncomfortable. Good video
Your concern is duly noted. Thanks.
Yes, the sound in the intro is awful. Nothing about it sounds good.
@@jamesdavis8731 Your disapproval is duly noted.
DrDaveBilliards I have duly noted that you have duly noted his disapproval :D
@Maiahi Your echo is also duly noted.
I am a big fan of RDS : I tried it the first time I saw the explanation video you published in the first place and was totally conviced ! Now I know that I can be considered as a level 11 player and I added level 11, 12 and 13 to my training sessions. And I know one day I will master level 12 as well, then level 13 : it gives a very interesting challenge to my training sessions, more funny than ghost play :)
I'm glad you like it. I do too. The progressive adaptiveness, rating results, and goal setting nature of RDS make it much more interesting than other approaches to practice.
Thank you!
You're welcome. I aim to swerve. :)
Love the vid Dr Dave, Stay safe!
Did you watch the whole thing already?
@@DrDaveBilliards Yes, I did :p
Love from Botswana, Africa 🇧🇼
I love the RDS system.
I'm glad you love it. I do too.
Hey DrDave, I’m a designer for the app Salotto. Salotto allows you to crate matches with anyone at any location. We will be releasing a new version soon that allows you to submit matches to FargoRate. Might be worth checking out. I’d love some feedback to make it better.
I love your content, because of yoi, i stand a chance to be a pro player some day. I know I'll be able to teacj someone cos of you.
I'm glad to hear it. I hope you reach the level to which you aspire.
Does it matter if any of these drills/exams are performed on a 7ft or 9ft table? Does a players handicap change somewhat, if they play on a different size/manufacturer (i.e. Valley vs Diamond) or is it negligible?
There are exceptions of course, but table size does not seem to affect relative ratings very much at all.
Here's an example: An exclusive barbox 8-ball player might not do as well playing 9-ball on a tight 9' table against a similarly rated player who exclusively plays 9-ball on a tight 9' tables.
@@DrDaveBilliards You also get more clusters on a tiny table compared to a large 9' table, which require a good ball control skill.
@@Snowbag1998 Agreed. But these sorts of issues apply to both players (although the 9' table 9-ball player might not be as good with CB finesse and dealing with problem balls among "traffic").
@@DrDaveBilliards thanks for the reply.
If ever possible, please break down 14.1 in the same format...three c, three b, so on an so on.
That's a good idea. I'll add it to my list. My "list" is unfortunately very long, but I'll try to get to it.
I'd greatly appreciate it. Haven't played much over the last 5 years but when I've come back both times have gotten halfway to my high run. Plus it would be nice to hear from a genuine honest person...if say you and I played...what would be fair. Least then I have an honest idea of where I am and can from there make improvements where needed.
I wish I had somewhere to play 9/12/2020
12 to 13
I believe it's "How WELL do you play?".
Agreed, but I didn't want people to think I was snooty.
@@DrDaveBilliards Well, that's good of you.
@@timothykring4772 Well played. Good job.
@@DrDaveBilliards lol
Jimmy Durante said that he never wanted to be thought of as snooty. He said that if he looked down his nose at others, it would take up way too much of his time.
I need a pool table i do this stuff all day
*well
Well what?
Dr. Dave, I love your videos. Keep them coming. You have helped my game immensely. In your "Player Ratings," I didn't see Mike Page's "Fargo Game." (ua-cam.com/video/CHj6KUw8xzE/v-deo.html) Are you familiar with this? It's may favorite way to practice.
I am very aware of the Fargo rating drill. I have a full resource page dedicated to it here:
billiards.colostate.edu/faq/drill/fargo/
This and other scored drills can be found on my drill resource page:
billiards.colostate.edu/faq/drill/
I also have the Fargo rating drill linked on my FargoRate resource page:
billiards.colostate.edu/faq/rating/fargorate/
I also just added the Fargo rating drill link to my main player-rating resource page:
billiards.colostate.edu/faq/rating/
I didn't do this originally because I was worried two "Fargo" links might cause confusion; but each page makes the distinction and provides a link to the other in case somebody clicks on the wrong link by mistake, so I now think it is OK.
Wow! What a quick reply. Thanks. Keep up the good work!@@DrDaveBilliards
You're a Dr? Then you should know it's how well do you play.
I know. I just didn’t want to sound too snooty.
Jeez, I never encounter this many grammar not-sees when I hang around pool halls.
@@neuvocastezero1838 I should probably use correct grammar to set a good example, but ain’t nobody got time for that. :)
@@DrDaveBilliards It's OK, I double checked with the Urban Dictionary and yo grammar be tite!
@@neuvocastezero1838 Dope.
Class O, Unrateable
Hint. The USA is not the world.
Are you implying non-US players don't have FargoRatings? The pros certainly do. Also, the playing-ability rating systems (BU, "ghost," RDS) can be used by anybody.
Someone else trying to take a shot at America. LOL. The Fargo rating is in other countries and other countries do have rating systems. And, as Dr. Dave pointed out, the BU, ghost, and RDS can be used in any country.
