Kara would be getting stronger and more powerful the closer she gets to Earths yellow sun. Why then would she need to "use all of her might" and be struggling with destroying Brainiac's missile? This of typical of DC writers when it comes to Superman or Supergirl. They are always nerfing these 2 for the sake of the plot, even when it is nonsensical to do so. Seriously, they need to come up with better plots instead relying on this kind of lazy writing.
I really don't recall Supergirl being in an animated film prior to the Tomorrowverse. Yes, there is Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. However, most animated films exclude her. Hell, the DC Animated Movie Universe didn't have Supergirl and instead went with the sleazy version of Superboy that can fly.
So nobody is going to question why Superman didn't take the city to another planet with a yellow sun ? Its not like he couldn't use the extra help to fight crime in universe . Apparently he doesn't like the possibility of competition coming from a planet full of super people .

When you say it originally had a yellow sun, that probably meant anywhere from thousands to even billions of years before. Everyone living on the planet at the time of its demise would have been living under a red sun. Also, I think they basically did away with the all Kryptonians had super strength thing by the 60’s and said that corresponded to Earth Two. I have to admit, you sent me on a little research project, lol.

Krypton gravity is still 10-100x earth’s own the writers just forget or ignore this bit of information. You wouldn’t say an average person has super strength on earth, but what if he was on the moon or a place with less gravity? A good example of this is John Carter of Mars. On earth he is a normal person but on Mars he is jumping 100 feet in the air without much effort, because of the difference in gravity. When we get to see kryptonians on their home planet they would look no different than John Carter when he’s on earth. This would cause many readers and writers forget about this piece of the lore. Also writers love to take away his “powers” and turn him “human”, so him still having super strength would get in the way of their storytelling.
