Great job explaining how it all works. I look forward to dropping in to your show tonight. It reminds me of getting ready for a live in person event I do several times a year. You have to interact with the customers, pull inventory and tag it (or list in Whatnot's case) and it's a quick way to move inventory. The only difference is for me you are setting up a booth and for Whatnot you are setting a live show. I still can't see how a move to Whatnot would work for my business. My ASP is $52-54 and on bad weeks it hovers around $42. Nicole State made a post about her numbers and you know what kind of audience she has. In 30 days she hosted 18 shows, sold 1600 items and grossed $21,500. That's an ASP of only $13.44! Since it is Gross I would assume that is before she deducted COG and Whatnot fees. So for me, it's a no. I continue to watch sales on the app though. I am looking at the Collectibles section for Mid-Century treasures. However, even those sellers said their sales have taken a large dip since the influx of sellers to the app. I'm not saying never. We will just have to see how it goes.
Maybe you'll find something beautiful on the app for yourself, but yeah it's definitely a volume seller market not a high ASP market

I use a dual camera green screen set up which is not necessary if you are just starting on WhatNot. A well lit room, a good smart phone and stand for the phone is all you need to get started.

Or you print them while some one will win at current time, if you please make a video on labels and shipping that will be great 👍 thanks alot.
You don’t see a video for shipping because it’s really hard to show without doxxing your buyers. Next time I run one I’ll see if it’s feasible to make a video.

You can clone items from past streams on desktop, but adding photos on desktop is not an option

If you have daylight bulbs in your home fixtures that may be enough. I use box lighting but I’ve had those a long time because I’m a partnered streamer on twitch. What are you going to sell on WhatNot because that makes a difference in what tools I would suggest.

I have my first show tomorrow night...and I ALSO have ADHD! Anyway, do you know how to rotate a photo when it has added. It was correct on my phone, but turned sideways when I added it to the show.
You cannot change it only try to reupload it or take a new photo in the app

Shorter shows have worked for me between 20-30 items. They also have a way to upload your posh listings to their buy it now marketplace, so it's even more accessible

Hey! I wanted to get confirmation from WhatNot before answering, so I was giving 💯 valid info. If you list stuff before going live and want to do say $5 starts, and before your show someone does a $3 prebid. It doesn’t effect what you start it at. You’ll just type in what you want the start to be and the prebid falls off since it’s less than what the seller is “listing” the item for. Prebidding is more for buyers that maybe can’t make a show but really want something or someone that cannot stay the whole time but really want something.

Thank you so much for this video. I set up my first auction, how do I get people to join? I'm so scared no one will be there 😂. I've been blindly doing this for a week now, do they just join once you're live? I'm such a noob!
Since I’m on UA-cam I always film a haul of what I’m going to list, but if you don’t have social media people are more likely to show up if you have good photos and descriptions of your items prior to you going live. Make a thumbnail of what you have and a short little video with the highlights and that helps too.

You can chose which items go live yourself but it auto orders in numerical order then alphabetical. So if you want it in a certain order you can do 1 - whatever the item is etc

I sell cards on auction and it's the same kind of pikachu over and over ( i have so many of them) So when someone wins an auction, I have to manually add the new aution with all the same details again. Also before the show even starts and I'm manually adding these items I have to do one at a time and it gets so tedious. It's literally the same item! I was wondering if I can just copy that auction setup multiple times! Thank you so much!!

They require you to sign an NDA to opt into posh shows, so no I was not interested and that is why you haven’t seen any videos about it yet.

Hi I’m a little confused by the question and I want to make sure I give you the best information, did you list the items under buy it now accidentally? If you have a specific order you want your items to be auctioned you may wish to title them in numerical order like 1-item name, 2-item name that will set the order in an easy way. I only ever pin one item in my auctions the one that I think is the most interesting.

It's okay. If you put it in buy it now, it will stay there by my understand. You have to list buy it now and auction items separately. When you put the item up live for auction is when you set your starting price.

whats the best way to upload your photos when you are uploading the video or photos?
I do everything on my phone. If it's books I just do it in the app, and if it's clothing I will upload them from my phone's camera roll

How does whatnot print labels and you get them at your house?
If you have a wireless label printer you can print the labels from your phone, or you can use the seller dashboard on desktop to print the labels.

@@denisecoffey6269 wow. That does kind of solidify three of my main thoughts on the platform. 1. They are still trying to grow the platform and they are not retaining the ones they have gained 2. They are wanting to grow as a social platform not a reselling one. 3. They are falling into the same pitfalls as Posh so within 5 years they’ll position to sell or go public.
@@B0BsBooks yes that is very true. I have been on EBay and Poshmark I have over 1000 items in inventory. Good items… but with no UA-cam and Instagram only being 1100 how do I not qualify to sell. But yet all the big you tubers got on there with No problem. But honestly I’m not going to stress about it. I’m going to keep on listing on my platforms and if the eBay live auctions ever get going I will try that :-) So it’s all good! And I will to continue to support my favorite youtubers because y’all are awesome!

If you are talking about setting up lights and connecting devices, the only video I can help you with is this one talking about OBS which I used myself to set up my desktop stream. WhatNot takes care of that already. It’s like $5 for first class shipping and then $2.50 for each additional item. If it’s heavier like jacket or shoes it’s like $9 for the first item then $5-10 additional bases on the weight you put in. Which is why it’s so important to have accurate weights when you list your items.

You have to create a listing for each item. I do A LOT more than most sellers do on the platform. Most just have a basic title like 1-tshirt with a weight measurement and talk about measurements and any issues during the live.
Is whatnot more profitable than eBay?
Only if you have a huge following. It’s a platform for fast flipping so no eBay currently is higher return but it is a slower return. Reselling comes down to do you want the fast nickel or the slow dime.
I sell 70’s sewing patterns and noticed how smallest miss size is 6.
Tiny tiny people. Sizes were deregulated in the mid 80s so since then it's been a free for all.
I clean everything I sell, I literally saw something with mold in it. I would be mortified to sell something that nasty.
Absolutely. If it has mold it it would be thrown away, but thankfully I've not experienced that yet
How long does it take to get paid?
Depends on how long it takes for the items to arrive to your buyer. I do next day shipping. My auctions run on Monday, so by Friday I start getting notifications that the money has been released and in my WhatNot account.
