Well thats this video added onto the favourites! Its videos like this saved into a play list that really make this type of content amazing to use as a goto guide. Cheers Albert!
Adding cap to diy power lead seems good idea. I got 3 of those betafpv power leads so i just made 1 for 4s balance connector and second for 3s balance connector. One is kept for reserve. Might make that to have basic pins to fit all as you described. That was great advice.
the naked gopro is a really good idea and im glad you made this video to help people power them. Im thinking of getting a naked gopro so i can put it on my taycan 25 instead of carrying around a heavy gopro. Good video Albert keep up the good work
Thanks for the advice on powering up the camera. I just ordered balance plug extension cables to modify for powering up my SMO 4k camera. The cables the camera comes with are horrible. It feels like solid wire with plastic insulation. I'm sure the wire will break from repeated movement. I also don't like soldering cables to the boards of all my quads just do I can use the camera on them. It's much better to just plug a cable into the battery. I think I'll also add a capacitor to the new cable. It certainly can't hurt and the female balance plug will prevent me from accidentally reversing the positive and negative wires since it's idiot proof.
Using the balance connector is just fine as long as you are not pulling crazy amps through the balance leads. The naked gopro is not pulling anything like the ESCs are pulling, so it should be totally fine.
I love the videos you put out, it helps me when I'm trying to figure things out. This might be for me down the road but I saved this video anyways. Thanks
Thanks for the instructions! I really want to get into 4in long range (but I'm not sure it's worth it since I'm still on analog) and I would definitely do this with an old hero 5 black. I also love the carbon fiber mount.
my 2.5inch quad ill be mainly using 2S battery. Using the betafpv bec, would you recommend to solder onto FC power lead (which have a 25v 150μF capacitor) should be enough with 2S? Or should I still use the matek + capacitor onto battery lead?
I'm not sure what the matek + capacitor thing is. Whether 25v 150uF is "enough" depends on how much electrical spikes that setup will create. If it's not too heavy, say under 100g AUW, that should be enough, however, in a crash all bets are off.
I have the Cinelog 25 and it has the 3 pin connected to the flight controller but my camera accepts a 2 pin connector - 5V. I'm still a noob but if I were to make an adapter, would it work, as in can the currents be passed both ways?
Hmmm, it's gonna be difficult to explain electronics in a comment. If you have the same naked gopro as I have in this video 5v won't work. If the connectors don't match, you can make an adapter and I believe it passes through lipo voltage on that connector. The BEC in my video only handles 2S and 3S. I'm not entirely sure what you have. Good luck!
I'm so sorry one more question I'm doing a GoPro 7 and how are you mounting that naked GoPro to the drone won't the mount block that three pin plug in the back?
I don't have that camera so not sure what you can do to make it naked. I think the teardown process is similar but there is no case for that model AFAIK.
Hey there, Is there ANY way you could give some amazon links or other links for the various capacitors, cables, and connectors used in this video? My main struggle has been powering of the naked gopros and how to be able to swap them between drones. This is absolutely the solution. I just want to make sure to get the right tools. THANK YOU for this video. -B
I'm powering my naked hero 6 like the first method, straight from battery. I'm wondering if you would know why my naked hero 6 video files stop at a frame. The files record for the duration of the recording and flight but the footage will freeze at one point. I've updated the firmware. Could it be down to voltage spikes/sags while flying?
Voltage spikes could be a big part of it. I would put in a 470uF capacitor and 9V BEC in-line so the camera has a clean power signal. Also, make sure your SD card is good quality and format it in the camera and not the computer.
I like the gopro better than the I sta360. Great alternative method to power the naked gopro. That's how I usually power other stuff and had not had a problem yet. I use a capacitor also most of the time
I'm getting random horizontal lines in my footage, is that an issue with voltage spikes? Checked all connections and reseated all connectors, it only shows up during flight footage. Have you seen this issue?
@@AlbertKimTV what happens without the capacitor? I’ve been powering the gopro just fine with the 2 pins but now it won’t turn on anymore and Idk why! I checked the cable and changed the back but it doesn’t flash red anymore any suggestion? the gopro with the original display works just fine
I have tried these steps over and over again. I can not get my geprc naked hero 8 on my Geprc cinelog 25 to turn on recording. All switches set up. All files in cli set right. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Albert! My flywoo gp7 will power showing green light but no recording light blinking or otherwise...it worked fine for a couple flights and then stopped after I pulled the card and it has never worked since. Do I need a Capacitor on the camera cable ? Is it more secure to have it? I have a camera cable solder to a 4s balance lead

I'm getting random horizontal lines in my footage, is that an issue with voltage spikes? Checked all connections and reseated all connectors, it only shows up during flight footage. Have you seen this issue?
