  • Honda forgot to install a tachometer on the CRF450L so 12oClock Labs fixed that with their Advanced Mini Gauge. And now that it can be used with a Vortex ECU the other half of the CRF450L owners can enjoy knowing which gear they're in.

      Since the 250L dash has a tach on a good display, it really is a letdown that they didn't just use the same part on the 450L.

    12oclock labs make nice kit, a little fiddly to set a little expensive. Still a great and so far in my use very durable.

    i have watched almost all of your videos now and because of your reviews i have made many purchases for my 2019 450l lol. but there is one install that i have not seen or i missed and that is the scotts steering stabilizer install, i would like to know if you are happy with it and is it something you would install again if you didn't have one. thanks

    • @JohnTYoung
      @JohnTYoung  4 роки тому

      I tried to make a video of the install and butchered it so badly that I burned the SD card it was on... Having said that, I really like the damper and it's essential on the highway at 75 MPH with tall front tires.

    Hi John, did you make a small bracket for installing the gage with double sided tape or what? Looks like it’s secure enough. Thx

      Maybe with the next build I'll give them a try. Does it work with the Vortex ECU? That seems to be the sticking point with these dashes.

    Hi Hi. I own a 2022 CRF450RL. Its brand new. I was changing the speed from MPH to Km/h and one I finished now the odometer stays in 0 and doesn’t indicate speed at all while I’m riding. Any help? I made the change according to the owners manual. Thanks

    Is there a secret to the gear learning procedure? Just spent awhile trying to get mine set and could not.
    I take off in 1st and it says “Learning 1st Gear”. It then says to shift and I do that but I never see “Learning 2nd Gear”. All it says is to shift. At this point I’m in 2nd gear so I shift to 3rd. Same thing all it says is to shift. So I shift again to 4th, same deal. I get to 6th gear and it still says to shift. Very frustrating. Curiously if I start shifting down to say some random gear like 3rd and I slow down then it says “Learning 2nd Gear” then says shift. Same issues after that,. Am I doing something wrong?

    • @JohnTYoung
      @JohnTYoung  3 роки тому

      Set your speedo and your GPS speedo so they are the same. The closer they are to being in sync the easier the rest is. When it's learning a gear hold that speed and rpm until it tells you to shift to learn the next gear. The steadier you hold the speed while it's learning the easier it is to do. Those are the two tricks.

    • @bizzfo
      @bizzfo 3 роки тому

      Ok. I used the default value for the speed calibration and it was good. Bike speedo was ever so slightly showing a 1mph speed change like less than half a second before the Mini Gauge showed the same speed. I have to think that’s close enough for that value. I’ll have to try again another time. Can you confirm though that after a requested shift I should be seeing “Learning X Gear” on the gauge? It should continue to say that until it requests the next shift? After which I should see again “Learning X Gear”?
