Nice job! Currently bashing my head against the wall trying to learn his parry timings. Out of curiosity any particular reason you’re using the (man serpents shield?) instead of the buckler?
as someone else said, the ash of war makes it have the same parry frames anyways; man serpents shield has a decent fire resistance (not 100% sure but I think it helps with negating the damage from the fire attacks he has if you fail to parry them)
might try sometime, not many bosses can be parried in the dlc and this boss is awful to try parrying; most attacks can't be parried (melee) though all of the fire attacks can be parried with carian retaliation from my 2-3 hours of tries, only 2 attacks can be parried, one is 0:10 overhead lunge and you parry it when the spear is at the highest point but the attack is extremely fast, the other is 0:13 where he casts a flame spell with his hand and has a 50% chance to do a parryable overhead lunge
@@kage_hunter yeah I was fighting this boss so many times. I’ve actually had some success in parrying him about 60 to 75% of the time. Also Is the carian shield fast as the buckler shield because I don’t have the carian shield.
@@kage_hunter I saw the vid. Nice! I basically got those parries down with him. I was trying to find other attacks that you could parry and what i found was at the beginning before he attacks he has 3 attacks he starts of with almost 90% of the time and that's the fast 2 hits, the slow sweep hit to spear thrust from the ground, and then the spear fire attack..Those you can parry.. He does those often if your close directly in front of him. But if your just a tiny bit farther away from range then he does a spear thrust or running thrust attack. Thats the attacks i can remember. I could be slightly wrong lol. Good job though. You should do Radahn next.
The range doesn't really matter in a parry since most of the time you'll parry when the enemy attack comes right on you. Carian has the same frames as golden parry and turns projectiles into glintblades.
+25 misericorde with bleed infusion, most of the damage comes from the bleed procs honestly, for talismans go with the ones that increase attack power with successive hits and the bleed one, those being specifically: rotten winged sword insignia millicent's prosthesis lord of blood's exultation last one I would go for damage negation talisman, either the fire damage one or the physical (bosses in dlc overall do a lot of damage)
malaenia ttok me 2 days to kill with parry rellana was done in 54 attempts letssee this guy and then the consort

carian retaliation (the parry AoW) has equal parry-frames as the buckler so any shield you put it on will be as good as the buckler
@@malte-bz6uo oh shit hadn’t considered that, thanks!
The timing for the parry is so hard you’re really good damn

@@thricecreamconeyeah, because it works for any shield I just use it on the Wolf Crest Shield since it’s my favourite shield
The swing after he cast a flame spell can also be parried but I haven’t got the timings quite right yet
I assume you mean one that isn't the 0:13 parry?
Yeah he either does the stab or the swing and both can be parried but the swing is harder to time
Could you do another fight with him lol. I really wanna find the parry timing

It's really strange. There are a few attacks that seem like they can be parried but they can't, which is stupid.
what spell in the shield?
carian retaliation
Would golden parry work on him better since it has range?
It doesn't seem to be that different honestly. A lot of moves he has just can't be parried and it's really weird since they really look like they can.

@@Nicky-mk1nv I figured as much, I tried to parry many of his atks that should be.
@@Balena_sas2341 yeah carian retaliation worked way better, more windows for opportunities against his fireballs
Do you know if heavy stab (when he puts spear in ground/drags it along the ground) can be parried?
is that the one on 0:36 if so, I think it can't be but i'm not completely sure
@@kage_hunter yeah that is the one. i thought i remembered doing it but i failed a bunch after that. I must be confusing it with the delayed stab.
