This series! Thank you for posting these. It's inspiring getting to see the inner workings of CNS. I'm really glad to see such passionate folks working in animation. Gives fuel to my dreams! I'll be watching every one!
I’m 12 but im watching this for future tips because I wanna be a cartoonist when I grow up, specifically one for cartoon network so i could hopefully pitch an idea to them

I’m only 11 right now, constantly watching cartoon on Cartoon Network and I wanted to pitch my show to you guys. I have an idea about a show where: these animals own a band where crazy adventures happen every day. Main Characters: Stein [Pig] (Band Owner) Chester [Chicken] (saxophone guy) Dribble [Rat] (piano player) Dexter [Dinosaur] (drum player) Main Villains Steve, Chuck, Slob, Derrick.
I hope im able to make a cartoon when im older. Ive been doing some story writing and been making ideas for cartoons. Steven Universe really inspired me to make stories so im hoping we meet in the future.
Thanks so much for this panel! I've been voicing animation for 30 years and finally moving into the other side. Scouring the interwebs for all the good stuff and making those connects. This was very helpful! Thanks again.😀😀😀
I got a TV show idea. It's called High School Buddies. It's about three kids (age 15) named, Jackie, Garret, and Don going through wacky hijinks in their town of Gilbert. They also work a part time job at Gilligan's Grub, a burger joint. Jackie is the blonde tomboy who's a hot headed (she's still nice to Don and Garret), overly cocky schemer. Garret is the simple minded, strong one and Don is shy, cautious and logical figure of the group.
My name is Ginger, watching this has been really inspiring. I tried to reach out to Cartoon Network in Georgia and noone reached back out to me. I have a awesome idea for a show and I would really like to get ahold of someone who would be kind enough to hear my pitch.
Will the CNS Academy ever open again? I know it was launched right before Covid but it seems like that kinda killed it. Here's hoping it comes back this year! Also really nice talk, worry more about execution rather than original ideas.
What should happen is make a new network for Cartoons that runs on UA-cam & Streaming Services I really want to make a new Network that supports new ideas/ creativity for Kids to Teens to Adult Cartoons to it's core for 100's of years (with Kids Cartoons, Teen Cartoons, & Adult Cartoons all getting their own divisions)
This is all great and nicely explained but when you try to find e-mail address or submission page there is not any. They mentioned in this talk that they receive hundreds of pitches per year. How? How can you contact Cartoon network? Where is the e-mail or contact page? If you try to find it even through the LinkeIn you can't. All of this development executives are hiding their contacts. So, what is the purpose of this talk named "How to pitch a show to Cartoon network" if there is no way to really contact them?
(Exactly. This seems to a common-trope with these videos. They tell you how to create your bible and how to pitch but not how to contact or anything to that affect! It is frustrating!)
Hi im am currently a twelve year old kid and im already making my pitch bible. I have always loved cartoon networks, and even loved the idea of working with you all even more, but the thing i wanted to ask from what age is it possible to work, what kind of education do i need, is there a difference if i have a higher education, how do i contact cartoon networks and do i have to work alone or if i do or do i have a team to help me with? Thank you for your time i would be greatfull if you answer my questions. Sincerely.
Hello Mimiart! I'm obviously not one of the people in the video, but I know the answers to your questions. 1: In order to work for Cartoon Network, you have to be atleast 18 years old (from what I know). However, most (if not all) cartoon creators have years of working in the animation industry beforehand (for example, some were animators or story borders for other shows). Most animation networks look for this kind of experience, because it shows that you have an understanding of how the industry works. 2: You don't need a higher education, but should get one. I recommend getting a degree in animation or fine arts--not in writing. 3: This is probably the most unclear part of the journey--contacting. I don't exactly know how you can do this, other than networking. So I would go to all of the animation networking events available, enter animation festivals, and watch panels at conventions--in hopes of meeting a scout or someone who knows a guy/is the guy. 4: Creating a show takes a lot of work, so you won't be working alone. There will be animators and writers helping you bring your idea to life. I hope this helps! Have a great day.
I'm really glad I found this. I think I have a great creative idea for CN, but I just have a question. How would one even present their idea to the executives? Like is it all about 'the people you know?' Do you have to pitch a meeting? How do you contact them in order to make that happen? I'm genuinely confused.
you need to pitch your idea to licensed literary agents, producers, or entertainment executives who already have a relationship with the organisation, unfortuanly.
Just trying to join the dots (If I get a screenwriter agent or screenwriter manager , don't they pitch my art work and story to a development executive.
I have some questions : When you're pitching is it okay if your drawings are drawn on a tablet in a place like photoshop? Is it okay to print it all out on paper? Do all your drawings have to be sketched out on paper?
Make some cartoons shorts and post them on UA-cam. Submit to animation film festivals. From what I’ve researched over the past year, it seems that may be the best route. I believe you must prove that you have something that people will want to watch.
