A couple months ago I started into recording with the Scarlett Solo. Learning more every day. This walk through of the added software is exactly what I needed right now. Thank you!
There aren’t any pedals included with the Hitmaker Expansion but there are tons of free ones available elsewhere like the free Amplitube LE which includes amps and pedals plus tons of other plugins.
Okay, so over this year I've come across your videos a few times and I wasn't sure if I was going to sub, but this video pushed me to sub. :) I have a Scarlett 18i20 2nd Gen so I don't get access to this :( lol But Maybe I'll upgrade, who knows.
I just bought the FR Solo 3rd Gen. I'm excited to see what it can do! I (for the last few years) have been using the iRig2 & Amplitube(iPad) to track all my things(including vocals). I will be using a MSI - Stealth Laptop w/i9 & RTX3080. Amplitube was cool but, always very lacking on vocals (both recording, tracking & mixing). Hopefully this has some cool drum tracks too (we do metal music), if not, I'm sure they'll have some cool plug-ins I can buy? I also bought a Shure 55. I know. It's a kick ass Live mic. But, I'm sure it will work just great for what I'm doing. Thanks for the video. I'm kind of in the middle as far as engineering so, I have a lot more to learn but, this helps! Rock on!
I have a feeling the restriction is due to a licensing thing with the plugin developers or Focusrite would likely give them to everyone. But you still got a great plugin bundle when you registered. I did another video on creating a song with that bundle here ua-cam.com/video/Lw3hal7q8DY/v-deo.html in case you missed it. Thank you for checking out the video. Glad you enjoyed it. im thinking about getting a scarlett solo 3rd gen ..are all these plugins still free when you register? because i read some of them arent offered for free anymore..
Yes all these plugins are still included. You don’t get Pro Tools First with the Scarlett interfaces anymore because that program no longer exists. Focusrite also no longer give you the “collective” which used to give you free plugins every few months. But all the plugins included with the Hitmaker expansion are still there.
If you haven’t registered your Focusrite interface yet, do that. If you have registered it, go into your Focusrite account and you’ll see “my software” along the top. (If you’re on mobile it’s hidden in the menu button) click my software and you’ll see all of the included plugins plus some plugins you can download for free for a limited time.
@@creepymcpeepers if you’re just registering it now then you’ll get the new plugins. If you registered it before, you’ll get the time and tone bundle which had some decent plugins and either way you’ll get the Focusrite Scarlett compressor and EQ which are excellent.

Go to the Focusrite website and register it if you haven’t already and then you should see the plugins in your account with instructions on installing each one.

It kind of depends on what DAW software you’re using. But you want to install the plugins into a folder typically c:\program files\vstplugins and vst3 plugins will all get installed to the same location and you shouldn’t have to worry about them. Once you have them installed, go into your DAW software and in the preferences there should be a section for plugins or file locations and in that section you want to add the folder where you installed the plugins. Your software may also have the option to manually scan for plugins so you can do that too and it should find them all. Then you can load these plugins in your daw however you want. Plugins, aren’t stand alone programs they are effects and instruments that you can load into host software typically (DAW) digital audio workstation software.
I cant get the plug ins I downloaded to show up in ableton is there something I can do. The sweetwater video made it seem they would pop up automatically
It's likely due to the folder that you're installing the plugins to. VST3 plugins have a default folder and Ableton Live should pick those up right away but VST2 plugins tend to install in different folders depending on the manufacturer. I recommend installing plugins into "c://program files/VSTPlugins" this is a typical install location. Then in Ableton Live go up to options. click on preferences and then click on the plugins tab in the window that pops up. Make sure "Use VST2 Plug-in Folder" is turned on and then click on "browse" in the "VST2 custom plug-in folder" section. select the folder where you will be installing your plugins and then click "rescan" to scan for plugins in the new folder that you setup. Here is a link to Ableton's website where they go over installing plugins help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/209071729-Using-VST-plug-ins-on-Windows
Thank you I pretty much found all my vs3 plug ins in the program files folder. Most of my vs2 as well but for some reason either by my mistake or jus luck they addictive keys and drums are in a different file in my "documents" ive tried looking to move the plug ins to the program file folder but I cant find them. All i know is when I have ableton search my documents for vs2 it finds them. Then when I want to use my other vs2 I have to Then search in program files which makes it a little tedious. As of now I'm just learning and would like all the plug ins to be in the same spot that way I can spend less time loading them in and more time making music

If you are connecting the speakers directly to the solo then you will want a powered speaker/monitor. There are several decent budget priced studio monitors. I like the Edifier MR4 monitors. There's also some decent affordable Mackie monitors, and the Presonus Eris monitors are decent too. Non powered speakers will need an amplifier as the Solo doesn't have an amplified output.
