Björk shows residential recording studio in Spain

To record in privacy away from media attention, Björk's tour drummer Trevor Morais offered his residential studio. It's located on the lower level of a 7-bedroom villa in Marbella(near Málaga), Andalucia, Spain. Björk had originally intended to stay only briefly, but later decided to record the entirety of 'Homogenic' there(1997). She made a final trip out of the country before staying in Spain. As she had done since moving to London, Björk returned to Iceland for Christmas. While there, she wrote more new songs for Homogenic, including 'Jóga'. Before returning to record, she was sidetracked by a two-week worldwide press tour for the promotion of her remix album Telegram, which had just been released.
After returning to the studio in Spain in late January, Björk had intended to produce the album alone but sought collaborators including Dravs, Howie B, Guy Sigsworth and LFO's Mark Bell. Howie B had worked with Björk on 'Debut' and 'Post' and Sigsworth had played harpsichord on 'Post'. Wu-Tang Clan almost contributed to the production of 'Homogenic', but were unable due to their production on the album Wu-Tang Forever, which had taken longer than planned. Most of the melodies on the album were created by Björk, who then composed string sections on a Casio keyboard and brought them to programmers who would add rhythmic patterns. Other unorthodox methods of recording were used during the production, including Björk wanting to record outside on the porch and using non-professionals to help with production, such as Rebecca Storey, who was hired as a babysitter but added to the production staff after showing interest in the equipment.
String arrangements were added late in the recording process. Björk had friend Eumir Deodato conduct, transcribe and compose original pieces for the few songs that Björk did not arrange herself. To keep with the Icelandic theme of the album, Björk ordered the services of the Icelandic String Octet.
Film edited for this video: Björk appeared on the well-respected British talk show The South Bank Show in 1998 to discuss her career and her music, in particular her album Homogenic, which had just been released. Björk: The South Bank Show features the entirety of Björk's appearance on the program, including her interview with host Melvyn Bragg and footage of Björk in the recording studio, performing several songs from her album.

@@marcushunt1414 I totally get it xx I've had to lean on Björk's music a lot since I first heard her when I was 16.
I was dragged into going to a party with folk I thought were my friends at the time. I was always the quiet awkward one. I was just floating from room to room, through groups of faces and ciggy smoke, because the people I came with left me on my own.
Eventually, I came round to the living room, and there was a wee television on and it was Björk's video Hyperballed, which had the lyrics too. I was so captivated, I sat there on the floor, right in the middle of the room.
I wasn't prepared for the lyrics in that particular song, to hit and run through me like an 18 wheeler. I don't exactly know what she meant for the song to mean, but it hit me hard, because at the time, I was being physically and mentally abused at home by my mother, And being bullied but other folk. Interesting. When that album came out, to me, it sounded like the absolute most avant garde, cutting edge of electronic music; that's was the overwhelming feeling about it I had at the time; like we had stepped into the next level. It has never really occurred to me that strings were such a huge element. Also, and I say this in the warmest sense it can be taken- Bjork is from another planet lol. I have been told I'm on the autism spectrum myself; but it's rare to see someone who is obviously so, so, so far out there, be able to connect all these outlier dot's the way she does. To be able to coalesce her feelings, which seem to range from, like she said, sound of music, through to like, a punk rock outpouring. Man, she is really out of the box lol. I can never get used to it. It must be fascinating to see what she's gonna be wearing each day, what mood she will be in etc... Every time I see her in something, this different alien appears.

Love your organic process of composition . You really project and paint your vision, feelings, direction, and substance naturally. You see things with your ears 🙏🎼🎵🎶🎹🎛🖥😁
