I love how they say the Azure Flute quest was too complicated for players, but in Ruby and Sapphire they had you learn an entirely new language to unlock the Regis.

To be honest how many kids (not teens or adults actually figured that out without a guide or help )
I almost feel like a deal fell through or something and saying they cut it for being complicated is just an excuse for business purposes.
I thought they were avoiding a religious fiasco. Remember when churches were trying to say pokemon was "evil" and that kids were worshiping demons? Arceus is supposed to be god so maybe they were afraid it would dredge all that BS up again.
Also braille is an alphabet. Not a language.

One of the most pointlessly annoying aspects of Sinnoh IMO - the fog
Why was this even a thing? It isn't really an obstacle (you can see through it), it just made all your moves less accurate. But, no, you had to use Defog in the Lost Tower, just to get items from the two old ladies at the top (which included Strength in Diamond and Pearl)!
Ugh! Fog is the worst thing that's ever been invented in Pokémon!

Basically always the dual releases are rushed games since Gen 1, Gen 2 is by far the worst significantly improved by HGSS.
I'm still pissed off that we don't have pokémon Z. Gen V still kept the dual release thing despite that gamefreak went out of their comfort zone, before what they are doing right now in the Switch.
I played Renegade Platinum and i'm really pissed off with Gamefreak, as good as Platinum was, the time specific events related to the DS's lifecycle really pissed me off. A game should stand on it's own without anything outside that game holding it back (**cough** like trading **cough**) .

Easily the worst thing about Sinnoh:
The sheer amount of HMs that the adventure demands of you to bring.
At least Hoenn, while also being heavy on HM uses, took you to amazing and interesting locations.
Needing 5 HMs out of 8 to get in Victory Road. Strength, Rock Smash, Surf, Waterfall, Rock Climb. Cut being cut as there are no trees, Fly being convenience for outdoors and Defog as it is just weather hazard.
To me the core issue is more with HMs using up move slots and having to go to the move delete every time you want to get rid of one, so once you address that having a variety of tools for navigation, exploration and secret finding can be pretty nice. If used right you can get some great set pieces like the waterfall in the distortion world.
@Marmelade I agree. My comment acknowledged that was the main issue with them and that they'd be a lot more enjoyable with that taken care of. It makes sense for pokemon to be able to do more than what's in their moveslots at the time since that seems like a game contrivance. Tying it to your party's pokmon would probably require you to bring certain pokemon for their ability to use them even without the moveslot issue so that's probably why they opted for summoning pokemon to use them instead.
Using hm slaves and 4 teammates to cross victory road was more entertaining then spending 30 min on water surfaces. Facts

Honestly, controversial take: DP are worse experiences, for me, to go back and replay than all the flaws of XY and SWSH. Like minus nitpick personal things the worst thing SWSH has to take to the table is bare bones story and XY is just a bit too easier than the others. But at least it's not a chore like DP to sit through.
Yes Platinum is better but its not fair to compare a third complete version to the single versions that gens 6 and 8 have. But I stand by my stance of veteran player since RB: There are no bad Pokemon games, just a few that are a bit disappointing in some areas. 7/10 is not a bad game.
Agreed for the most part except for me, DPPt weren’t great Pokemon games or games in general, first and thankfully only time I’ve been put off by the franchise. This is actually a reason why I’m also hyped for BDSP along with everyone else, because I WANT to love Sinnoh but the flaws before were to me too glaring to ignore but I think the remakes can address a lot of that and leave a much better impression.
Diamond and Pearl’s technical flaws make them hard to go back to but they’re still great games. The slow movement, especially when surfing, can be a pain but if you can look past it they’re still a lot of fun. However Platinum is undoubtedly the definitive Sinnoh game

The anime voices were actually changed in gen 3. Specifically in advanced battle and battle frontier.
That change was simply decent. It's worse now, where one voice actor voices more than one main character. I used to love Serena's English voice, but now she's overused, and I can't take Serena's voice seriously when it's not coming out from her mouth exclusively.

I’d say my favourite part of the games are the starter Pokémon and region. I love all three starters (favourite being Chimchar) and I love replaying the games with them.
Sinnoh's dex is my favorite of the franchise, i also love the exploration, lore and feel of the region, very feels comfy.
Absolutely love the Gen 4 anime season, Lucario my favorite Pokémon of all time since Lucario and Mystery of Mew movie.
Now in Legends Arceus, it's like returning to home, gosh, Sinnoh is really special...
The hate that Hoops gave Chimchar & Ambipom throughout this video made me dislike it & I get it he wasn't a 10 year old girl watching the anime although they both were so good in the anime & Infernape is practically the best Sinnoh Starter.
I love these games! I know they aren't perfect but nothing ever is.

I respect your opinion ... but Gen4 is the only Pokemon game I ever dropped... after that I stopped playing pokemon till Kalos was announced, then I played Gen5 and fell im love with Pokemon again
@@gequetscht1031 it's funny you say that. I had a similar experience. I played Red and Yellow first then I got Silver but my game never saved. It was then that I dropped out of Pokemon for awhile. I skipped gen 3 and then played Diamond and was hooked again and have been playing the series ever since.

I've always hated the event distributions, because I can never participate so I can't ever complete the main objective of the games and fill the Pokedex, it literally makes it impossible for me to beat the game unless I use cheats which I've only ever been able to use on emulators and roms I downloaded for free on my phone. Which the most recent game I've been able to play that way was black and white 2 cause I can't seem to get a 3ds or 2ds emulator on my phone that actually works and also finding the roms for them is frustratingly difficult

Piplup is the reason behind my love for gen 4. It was the first Penguin Pokemon and it being a starter was a blessing.
Technically Delibird is based on a rock hopper penguin but Piplup is the GOAT.
The voice changes actually happened in Generation 3. Pokémon Mastermind is when they officially changed their voices and that was during the Battle Frontier saga. It's because Pokémon moved from WB to Cartoon Network so they changed the actors too.
I actually remember those batches of episodes.

Also, the worst official games are the original Red&Blue, extremely dated garbage.
People starting Gen 1 with Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee are fortunate, i will never play the original Red&Blue, it makes me go insane.

@@saricubra2867 Gen 1 is glitchy as all hell, severely dated, lacking in so many modern conveniences... and yet I still find myself coming back to it every so often. A good chunk of it's probably pure nostalgia, sure, but I think the Gen 1 games have kind of a unique charm to them. Some moves just flat-out work differently so you gotta consider different strategies. Toxic + Leech Seed was insanely good. Wrap and similar moves were actually worth using. Hyper Beam was a nice go-to move if you knew you were gonna get the KO.
And then you have the glitches. The sheer volume of different ways you could unravel these games like a ball of yarn. Some see it as another point against Gen 1- I see it as a point in their favor. There's just so many things. Stone evolutions without the stones. Glitch City. The myriad of strange and wonderful glitch Pokémon- our friend Missingno. is but the tip of the Bergmite! And oh, let me tell you, the days when people were still investigating to find out about all of this... it felt like we were exploring a whole new side of the world of Pokémon, one no guidebook could help us with, the underlying fear that we might be risking our very save files in pursuit of the truth... I remember discovering that if you caught the glitch Pokémon known as A, and didn't see its dex entry, it wouldn't just turn into Rhydon, and it could actually be trained up and used. I remember force-feeding A a bunch of Missingno.-cloned Rare Candies, taking pen to paper, and documenting them level-up moves. The shock and surprise when I realized this speedy little thing learned Transform! And then you got encountering wild Missingno. and 'M, not because you needed anything cloned in particular, but because you wanted to see what new screwiness you could make happen in your Hall of Fame data. Oh, it's a part of the Gen 1 appeal no remake will ever recapture...

Infernape the best Sinnoh evolution line. Azelf is a monster competitively and has a unique design along with Dialga and Palkia
I hated the limited Sinnoh Dex too, but *at least* Game Freak didn't force you to own the National Dex before you could trade for non-native Pokémon; its number would simply be listed as "000" prior to receiving the National upgrade. It's a far cry from the days of FRLG & Emerald where you physically *needed* the National Dex to obtain anything that wasn't native to Kanto or Hoenn. Of course, this was *still* one of the worst and most frustrating aspects if you didn't have friends who played Pokémon, didn't have a Wi-Fi connection or didn't have a second DS & cartridge.

I like some of the Johto references in diamond and pearl. From the news report of the lake of rage to Jasmine appearing in the game. That was a set up for to revisit johto at that time.

They are. Hoops just have a weird opinion about them.
They ain't really my fave either, in terms of box art legendaries. They didn't really do anything in the main story, they just got captured and you free them. I don't remember them doing anything more than that after, you just fight them the next time you head to the Spear Pillar. For the gods of time and space, they didn't really showcase their power in the story. Giratina though, that mon is a beastly masterpiece. Unlike Dialga and Palkia, we actually saw it use it's powers in the game; When Dialga and Palkia were ensnared by Cyrus, it opened a portal to the Distortion World and brought Cyrus there with it.
@@sylvia4232 Funny enough, most of the box art legendaries were just caught and/or had little to no effect on the story, only just talked about during the story:
Gen 1 : 0 impact on the story, no mention of the birds which you can easily skip, and Mewtwo and mew only briefly getting mentioned in the Cinnibar Island mansion.
Gen 2 : No impact on the story, Only passing mentions of Ho-oh and the Burned Tower with the 3 beasts.
Gen 3: I think this gen had the best involvement of their box art legendaries. They actively affected the climate during the climax so even in wild battles it's permanent rain or sun, they overpowered the people who tried to catch them, threaten to destroy Sootopolis along with the rest of Hoenn, and really went in depth about the relationship between the three.
Gen 4: As you stated.
Gen 5: Reshiram befriended by N, no impact on the story, only just a semi final battle at the end.
Gen 6: Easily the worst offender of this. Xerneas and Yveltal were literary shoehorned into the story at the last second. There were almost no mention of these two's existence anywhere in the game.
Gen 7: I kind of liked what they did here with Lilly basically babysitting this weak, unknown, baby Pokemon throughout the story which ended up evolving into the box arts and tying in into the Ultra Beasts phenomenon.
Gen 8: Zacian and Zamazenta were never mentioned until Bede broke the wall and revealed that they existed. Still no real impact on the story.
Well, it's quite simple: the typings don't really matter here, since it's just his opinion on the pokemons themselves, not on how good they are in competitive. And personally, I completely agree with him: I think that Dialga and Palkia are fine legendaries (I actually like Palkia much more than Dialga), but they are just....Kind of "lame". They just look like classical dragon-kaiju monsters, which isn't really that appealing to me compared to some of the other boxart legendaries: they are not as majestic as Zekrom and Reshiram (Zekrom is just too cool, feom the name to the design), I absolutely LOVE the inspirations behind Xerneas and Yveltal (norse mythology), Solgaleo and Lunala are great imo (and I really liked their connection to the ultra beasts, to Necrozma and the fact that they are the only boxart legendaries that actually evolve from a pokemon which is pretty cool imo), and Zacian and Zamazenta are fine but not that great (I really don't line Zacian, but I love Zamazenta so they are average to me). And Groudon and Kyogre are just awesome.
I also don't really line the fact that Dialga and Palkia aren't really related to Giratina in anyway, even if it is the third box art legendary of the generation. Or at least they aren't as tied to it as Xeneas and Yveltal are to Zygarde (or would've been in a pokemon Z....It's a shame it didn't happen), Zekrom and Reshiram to Kyurem, Groudon and Kyogre to Rayquaza, or Solgaleo and Lunala to Necrozma. But those are just my opinions, I can still understand why people can find them cool.

GEN four did make some HMs More viable. Waterfall and dive were better used thanks to the physical special split. Certain Pokémon could capitalize on those attacks and you can still have them for Field moves

But what i really didnt like were for us tp wait 6 real time hours for honey tree pokemon and the pal park.
I liked the idea of the pal park but not the synchronizing the time to the gba save file you had, waiting 24 hours because it wasnt in synch and only being able to do this once a day.
HGSS fixed this issue but it should've happened in platinum
Sinnoh’s regional dex (in DP) was pretty skewed. Like you said about most Gen 4 evolutions not being available in the main game, the diversity of types was bad. There were mainly Water, Normal, Flying, Poison, Bug and Ground types, but there were a lack of Fire, Ice and Electric types. Even to the point of people like Flint, Candice and Volkner being affected.
I’m glad someone else remembered it wasn’t just fire that was shafted in availability in the original sinnoh games and that electric and ice were bad too. I think that fire is the one most remembered because it basically forced many people to pick chimchar as the starter if they wanted a fire type but didn’t want to use ponyta so it prolly sticks out much more in people’s memories (that and the fire elite four member was a joke for the same reason of lack of available fire types since it’s easier to get away with it as a gym leader but not as an elite four member)
@@fenixrises9854 Yeah, and like I can excuse the Kanto Elite 4 and GSC/HGSS (sort of) due to the lack of Pokemon to fill the types but DP, since it planned to have specific people do type specialties, they could have like planned out more diversity?? Volkner having Ambipom and Octillery in DP for example.

Like they could’ve made the fire, electric, and ice trainers earlier in the game and just given them less Pokémon so that way it would make more sense than what they actually did. Like they gave the Pokémon that weren’t part of the type specialty the same moves but it doesn’t cut it in my opinion. Like Drifblim with will-o-wisp doesn’t cut it IMO
Also Dragon had it the worst in the region being done super dirty
The ONLY Dragon Type (that's not Legendary) that was in Gen 4 is Gible and its evos

At least the only time it’s represented is Cynthia but her team is very diverse anyway (except for gastrodon in diamond and pearl when you already have milotic and garchomp representing those types, glad they fixed that in platinum). It’s not like they had a gym leader/elite four member/champion representing like in gen 1 and 2 with Lance

For 2 spots on my best list: poffins and super contests.
Pokeblock making was a pain back in gen 3 (didn't realize it was a rhythm game until years later) and Poffin making was more straight forward while being a good use for the touch screen.
As for super contests, it felt like there was strategy with the dress up segment.

It's not that it's because there speedrunners it's because it makes the game feel boring and unjoyable that's why I stop playing heck pokemon ruby and sapphire are faster and more injoyable than it. You can disagree but in my opinion it's boring

Everyone complaining about Diamond pearl must have just started with that ganme in the series .... let's not forget the advances of physical special difference and wifi battling was first introduced in this series.... to me diamond and pearl were two games that actually saved me from leaving the pokemon series being able to battle with people and trade with them (hooray serebii) led to me falling in love with the game all over again and the games also introduced the competitive scene to me.... I know those reasons aren't really good enough to justify spending this money but being a Gen 1er my interest spikes were first two gens then diamond and pearl, then x y with mega introduction, then sun and moon for the size scaling
I honestly didn't know about the dual slot thing. All I knew was that you could transfer Pokemon from gen 3 to gen 4 six Pokemon at a time every 24 hours.
Did You know? The reason why DP Gym Leader Had weird Teams Like octillery or Medicham in a Ice Gym was Not Just random. It was actually to make Them Harder and unpredictable. For example volkner uses electric Type which are weak to ground. Which is why He Had an octillery to counter ground types. And Candice a Medicham to counter Steel and Rock types

It was Ash's Chimchar and his character arc that made me love Chimchar to the max back in the DP anime days. Since then, I never went back from picking Piplup as my starter. Definitely gonna recreate my Sinnoh team with Chimchar in BDSP soon!
One of the things I liked about Diamond and Pearl were the abnormal set ups for Volkner and Flint. It made the fights different from what I was used to when dealing with Gyms and Elite 4.
Hoops, I love your Chimchar take. You’ve had plenty of takes I see differently on but MAN that is a hard agree from me. If they wanted to have that line, part of me feels like it would have been better if they had Chimchar line and Grookey line as well as some new Water ape line in place of the elemental apes in Gen 5 and then I feel like everyone could respect them more. It’s just as starters they fall short imho.
I heard the azure flute is coded in BDSP. So one can only hope. Sinnoh is my favorite region and just counting down the days Tikka the 19th. I feel the slowness thing though. You could graduate college by the time a blissey faints. 😂

Oh man, I could not agree more with what you said about Platinum. As soon as I decided to play catch-up with the Pokemon series, I knew I had to get a copy of Platinum instead of Diamond or Pearl because of everything I had seen and read about Generation IV. I really hope there are a good helping of Platinum elements in BD/SP.
BDSP are worse than Platinum, DOA remakes. I played Renegade Platinum which is a masterpiece, i will go straight for Pokémon Legends.
I don't want Diamond&Pearl 2.0, never liked Diamond&Pearl and never will. Platinum IS Gen 4, even the Gen 4 Pokémon anime agrees with me.
Speaking of rowan mentoring sycamore, sycamore is my personal favorite proffesor (he says oak but the screen after corrects him and says sycamore)

Ya know. Particularly as far as the lake trio goes, I agree with you about the legendries. I don't dislike Mesprite, Uxie, or Azelf, but I felt like the overly similar and somewhat weakly inspired designs didn't really work for me either. I like them ok, but they do not stand out for me as far as legendries go at all.
The voice actor change happened in gen 3 besides that this is a great video

I am looking forward to get both Pokemon brilliant diamond and Pokemon shining pearl games for Christmas🎄. I also would liked to play as Dawn and choose Piplup as my starter Pokemon so I can do better than the anime Dawn and what Piplup would never do. And that is catching more Pokemon and evolve Piplup into Prinplup and then to Empoleon.
However when I was watching UA-cam of any ideas what to expect on Pokemon brilliant diamond and Pokemon shining pearl, but when I was looking to find out about Wonder Trade that I've just found out today that at the moment is unavailable😱. I mean it isn't fair because I was looking forward to get both Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl games for Christmas and I was hoping to used Wonder Trade for any Pokemon I want. Now I'm going to have to wait in early January to hear more news at least that what I though it's going to happen by then or in December😒.

Not like he said anything against that, for all we know he hates that too just as much as he hates DP's pacing. Also to add on my opinion, I liked Viridian Gym and Petalburg gym better since it's not just "the gym leader is busy lol go to the next two gyms before coming back here bye", Viridian and Petalburg actually have a connection to the plot and battling the gyms there were actually satisfying to me.
I vehemently remember the underground making a base and the mining mini-game. But I have never played Diamond or Pearl. Last pokemon game I played was Emerald. Till SWSH.

I have played Platinum only like 3 or 4 times and I don't really have that many strong memories about it. I just remembered that the professor was a badass and I liked him most of all the professors. And then there is Looker who I already like before and then he became even more memorable because he basically became a timelord, jumping through space and time to make an appearance in the next few games as well. And the abandoned mansion in the woods with the Rotom was pretty memorable too. Cynthia actually wasn't even that memorable. Until like a year ago when people started talking more about gen 4 again, including how memorable she as a character was and how hard her battle was and whatnot, I had almost completely forgotten her. Even though she did make appearances in later games as well, each time I only felt like, "Wait, who were you again?" The worst part of the game I remember was that you had to remove the fog in the tower with an HM move. It was even more useless than Flash because you could actually see through the fog just fine but still as far as I remember you HAD to block one Pokemon move slot with that useless attack because else the game wouldn't continue because something wouldn't trigger or you couldn't get a necessary item or something the like.
The Azure Flute event just didn't make sense to me as being difficult/ complex. The Darkrai event is much more complex than the Azure Flute.
Yea that Azure flute explanation was complete bs, especially because back in gen 3 we had to read freaking braille just to unlock the doors to the Regis on top of doing the convoluted puzzles in each of the 3 regi caves.

16:50 funny thing, as I'm actually during Diamond and Pearl anime. More precisely during Galactic Battles season. Well, for most of generation three Poland doesn't even get a dub (and interestingly enough it it so ONLY with all generation 3 anime seasons except the first one... I guess popularity in Poland, which could be something what started quite before it, as after 4th season they stop to translate opening songs... at that times I actually dropped Pokemon around season 3 and just somewhat recently returned to them) so I have no other choice than watch it in the English dub, which actually was okay for me but... I still preferred the Polish dub.
But back to the topic - when I finally get to the first Diamond and Pearl episodes I was like "Wut!? That's not Ash's voice!". It was really hard to get used to that new voices (till now I didn't even know that it could somewhat mirror the English dub!) - and the dubbing as a whole was worse(though it was kinda funny to find there voices from other series). Well I knew old voices will return (as I did check out one episode of XY once) and I was very - but positively - surprised that the old voice are returning already at Battle Dimension season (so second season of Diamond and Pearl). But what was weird also new characters hade changed voices... some of them even have voices of main characters from my favorite show - Code Lyoko (Dawn was now talking in Aelita's voice (Beata Wyrąbkiewicz) instead of Twiligth Sparkle's, and her mother was talking in Yumi's voice (Anna Sroka) instead of Rarity's ). Actually only new voice that didn't seem to change was the pokedex.
Anyway my point is... have You checked if they didn't return to old voices? I mean if that was done in Polish dub then perhaps in English too.
Also honestly (even though I'm still just at the beginning of Galactic Battles) I don't actually consider Arceus as a "god" of pokemon Universe. Though my knowledge about him is limited he's just to NOT god-like(as far as I know especially in games... I mean "god", which YOu can catch in pokeball? Seriosly?). So I would consider him at best as guardian-angel of this universe (maybe the master of them, strongest over them, their commander etc. but not an actuall god. Even if he probably is the closest thing to god we can get in the Pokemon universe)
But for actually having opinion about this gen game... I would have first to play them... but at leas now I know that I should either go for the remake or for platinum version :D
I can't agree with the Ambipom hate, I'm sorry. It has more of an "adorkable" vibe to it, and I like that. And sure, the tail hands look like mutated Plusle heads, but I somehow never really saw that as anything other than a fairly accurate descriptive term, and not necessarily a downside to the Pokémon's design. Honestly, in fact, I think it's how much you've made clear your disdain for Ambipom that's helped me make up my mind to use it instead of Purugly or Lickilicky in my first BDSP playthrough (the other two will have their turns, don't worry). I just, I just love the little thing. Between what I find to be a cool design, a super useful Ability in Technician that pairs seriously well with the move it needs to learn in order to evolve in the first place, and respectable Attack and Speed, I just love Ambipom.

I used to hate Ambipom, but then I used it in a playthrough of Soul Silver specifically because I didn’t like it… and it kinda grew on me. Don’t get me wrong, I still wish they would redesign its stupid balloon hands, but other than that, I like it now.

I really wish that Rhyperior either didn’t exist or looked totally different. I liked Rhydon’s design, but you gotta evolve it now. Okay I know you don’t have to, but you know what I mean. Rhyperior’s design is pretty garbage in my opinion.

Also the real worst thing about gen 4 is Diamond and Pearl. Everyone who loves Gen 4 loves Platinum because it fixes 2 pretty bad games.

Personally gen 4 I'd the only games where I haven't beat the elite 4 due to the amount of grinding that you need to do to beat the elite 4. I have tried to play then several times and I end up just giving up before the elite 4 because of the level of my pokemon compared to where I would need them to be to complete the elite 4. I know that many people like gen 4 for this reason but I just have never had the patience to dedicate to the grind.
I honestly agree with most of the things you said about gen 4 but there are two things I disagree with 1. Ambipom is beautiful on the inside and 2. The voices of the anime got better after gen 3 where as gen 1 and 2 is where the voices were cringy for me. But I don’t watch the anime for the voices I watch anime for the plot and I’m not going to get hung on something so trivial and mundane as character voices. Anyone who disagrees with me will be blocked.

I disagree with number 10. Dialga is actually one of my favorite box art legends ever since I originally picked up Diamond on release.
I guess everyone entitled to they wrong opinions… loll dialga and palkia are definitely iconic and nice legendaries. No hate tho ♥️
