Informative? What information did you gain about how it's actually made rather than simply the steps they took. If anything this is an inspiration reel of close-up shots. This wasn't helpful AT ALL in terms of actually understanding how they're made. It was just a ton of macro shots that didn't allow you to practically see any process.

I wanted these soooo bad. My head is way too big to wear them. I switched to a more basic model that is larger. I still wear them a decade later. I even had prescription lenses put in them.

I found this brand yesterday by literally touching them, no wonder why they are so nice, you can feel their passion.
All of my eye glasses are by Persol - beautifully made, stylish and timeless eyewear! I especially love my folding sunglasses - bellisima!

Wish they still made 69218s. Don Johnson wore a pair of them in Season 3 of Miami Vice and the only ones I can find are either sold out or they're over $400.

they are great eyewear BUT theres still nothing like vintage Persol glasses . before they were bought out by luxatica . when they were just a little glass company making them by hand then good old steve macqueen gave them the boost they are who they are because of the " king of cool"

So is Persol one of the last glasses companies to not outsource production to China? I’ve read that most “Made in Italy” glasses are actually made in China, then just finished in Italy to get the “Made in Italy” label.
I'm not sure where this particular production factory is. I like to think it's in Italy.
I own a pair of these, but if you have OCD you may want to stay away. Because these are handmade you will see little imperfections in the frames. Just sayin'

Rod Rom you are correct. Others don't have their facts right. The luxottuca factories assemble Chanel, Oakley, ray bans, and yes, even persol in the same building. There are many videos and interviews done with the CFO of Luxottica explaining the process.

Arent these made in the same luxottica factory as Oakley, vogue and ray bans?
Not sure if it's the same factory, but according to their Wikipedia page, all "Plastic" glasses are made in Italy. Plastic is in quotes which may include acetate? Not sure, but the say Italy.

Luxottica owns literally 2/3 if not more of the glasses made in the entire world. Production will be made in the same place but are made differently. Ray bans are made in Italy just like persol and Oliver people.
Kail Kail cheaper raybans are shit. They have plsatic glass very mediocre frame and is worth around the 70 euro's but it is solled for 180. Persol/randolph engineering/american optical/serengeti are from very high quality for an okay price.
No. Persols are made in the same factory they originally had and continue to be hand made. Most of Luxottica products though are made in the same factory. Maui Jim's are made in Japan and Italy outside of the main Luxottica factory where Ray Bans and Oakleys are made.

@@FossilBluff No there are many how-its-made videos that are just as if not more complicated than glasses. Like how a watch it made, how an oxford is made, and many more meticulous hand made things that just are longer videos (as one video). Take this as an example posted by Wired about a month ago. ua-cam.com/video/7hSZFO5QUmE/v-deo.html. Yes it's incredibly meticulous. I'm not saying you should do this but I would actually be interested in seeing how it's made.
I have a pair since 2010, and i must say thay they are my go to sunglasses for evryday, unless im doing sports then i will wear my oakleys. The quality is superb. I just hope that luxxotica dont cheapen them. Cause ive seen new models like the 649s and the hinges feel kinda crappy unlike the regular classic 649
I have a new pair and the arms are starting to deteriorate. Its like the acetate isn't blended right or something. It's only happening on the lighter parts of the arms.
