Shizuka heads north to a popular location for a day trip out of Tokyo, the picturesque Nikko in Tochigi Prefecture. Well known for its beautiful waterfall and colorful nature, Nikko is also a great place to sample the mouthwateringly tender Tochigi beef! This high-grade wagyu is only available at a few restaurants, and Shizuka indulges in a few fancy meals to check out this celebrated beef.
From a soft and juicy seasonal beef steak to a tenderloin at a historical home-turned-restaurant, Nikko features restaurants that are perfect examples of "yoshoku". Yoshoku is the term for "western food", a Japanese take on western recipes that have become part of Japanese cuisine. The influence of western dishes, and traditional Japanese flavors, have combined to make these Tochigi beef dishes a perfect edible mix of cultures.
FEATURED FOODS:
Sakura hambagu: More similar to meatloaf than hamburger, the Japanese "hambagu" is soft ground beef served in a patty with sauce and toppings.
Tochigi wagyu: The high-grade beef of Tochigi prefecture.
Hayashi raisu: A dish made with rice and a hashed beef-stew-like sauce.

Which restaurant did you like the most?
The second one is most intriguing but I’d love to stay at the hotel!
I liked the first restraunt because the hamburger steak with cheese looked on point and there were things to look at. In that restraunt. The ambiance. 😊
I’d like love to try the second!!!! 🥩🤤👍🏻
Shizuka!! Love seeing more videos with her hosting.
We enjoy her videos too❤
I really love this channel. I've been watching for white a while now, and I'm honestly surprised it's still raking in relatively low views. This quality content deserves way more views and subs. Here's to future growth! My husband and I would love to have our honeymoon in such a place, hopefully we can in the future! We'd definitely purchase one of the tours, they seem so curated yet local.
We look forward to having you here in Japan❤ thank you for your support !
Yeah, I agree. The content is really interesting and informative.
Agreed, and I feel like a bad that I had not subscribed until today. Shizuka is a fantastic presenter.
Just keep up the good work. I’ve see many channels work through a period of slower growth while creating quality content before exploding
I find myself unconsciously saying "mmm" out loud during Shizuka's satisfying bites, sometimes even before and after, everything just looks so goood, regarding the restaurants though, aesthetics wise, I would say depending on the situation I would be happy to choose either one although I too am blown away by how gorgeous that house is 6:31
It was stunning! But all of them were really great😮
Shizuka has the best job ever…and she does it so so well! Great episode once again! 👏
Thank you for your support 😍
Shizuka with your description plus expressions and a little imagination I could almost taste the food. You were fantastic.

Shizuka is the best host for anything involving eating or drinking. :) Also, props to the camera guy and editor of the video packages.
They are all working super hard 😍
Shizuka, you just called yourself a Princess!! Hahahaha Your never going to live that down I'm afraid. Lol
Wonderful video as usual. Keep up your great work showcasing Japan through food!!!
Thanks a lot for watching 😍
It's the first time I ever heard of Tochigi beef! I'm so glad you showed us Tochigi foods.
Yay! Please try when you get a chance❤
Whether grilled, shabu shabu or sukiyaki
I like Japanese Wagyu with simple Shoyu, & Wasabi on the side …Fried Garlic chips will be a bonus
Yummyyy! Simple is best❤
Ms. Anderson, you make me so happy!
Yay!!! Princess Shizuka!!! 😍
It is fascinating to think or imagine how those places were like back in the day. How cool
Right? Thank you for your comment.

First - You are Awesome!
What a luxurious dining experience in Nikkō -- quite different from the typical meals tourists have! I used to teach English in Tokyo in the 1980s, and one of our students was the son of the Kanaya family. He was going to university in Tokyo and was studying English conversation so he could converse with guests at the hotel. He always used to tell students and staff at our school to come to the Kanaya Hotel, but even with a discount, it was still too "high class" for most of us, especially the teachers like me who traveled on a tight budget. I think if he was working when we visited Nikkō, we would have stopped by for a meal, but I donʻt remember ever eating A-5 wagyū in Japan. It wasnʻt so well-known back then and the only famous wagyū was Kobe beef, and I think I only had lesser grades than A-5 because it was too expensive. (Nobody talked about the grades then.) Even regular thinly-cut beef steaks cost quite a bit (there was a trade war with the U.S. then), so I rarely ate thick pieces of beef in Japan, and you can imagine how thrilled my American and Canadian friends and I were to see all that abundant and inexpensive kalbi and bulgogi when we visited Korea!
Kanaya was super fancy! It really felt very high-class! We felt very lucky to have been able to do visit!
Went to both mihashi and meiji no yakata, and had the dishes you tried, both fantastic. Thank you
Glad you like them!
Well, beautiful princess 👸 Shizuka, it's always a pleasure to see your culinary adventures and to hear your voice that is like a beautiful relaxing song, quite fascinating location and the inside preservation of his history puts a distinct note to the all ambiance ad the enjoyment of the delicious cuisine 😊
I liked them all. My mouth was watering the whole time.
We feel ya😂
Kudos to Shizuka for handling the fork correctly and gracefully. She seems to like her tenderloin mediumly cooked.
She is a true lady❤
Thanks for taking us along! Nice to hear you speak Japanese
Thanks for watching!
i love you princess shizuka 😍
I’d love to try that hamburger steak but with rice. Restaurant had homey feel to it too.
Hmm that would definitely be delicious too!
Oh thanks, am I planning to go Nikko, while also trying decide of some wagyu meals to try. So this video helps on both fronts.

Salmon Patties sound delish 😌
My God! That all looks so delicious!
It really was 😍
Great job as Shizuka, and thank you for the reginal map in the beginning of the video
Yay! Thank you for watching !😍
I Saw A Sign Inside The 1ST Place Of My Favorite Beer Kirin. I Prefer Draft. Hamburger With Cheese. The Fancy House Looked Really Old, Well Kept & Nice. The Rare Tochigi Beef Looked So Juicy & So Yummy. Very Old Hotel You Picked For Your Last 1. Looks Yummy Not Nearly As Rare As The Last 1. My Favorite 1 Was The 2ND 1, Outstanding & Yummy From Start To Finish.
Thank you for watching 😍
Lovely from Fresno, CA, USA. I really enjoy seeing the very historical locations.
omg Nikko, I will come back there someday
Hi Shizzy!!! I am a A5 Wagyu beef steak now. 😁🥩🍻🍺

Shizuka really is a princess 👸
Hamburg Steak is best with Marie Sharp'S Habanero Sauce!!!
I did not expect that hamburger at Steak House Mihashi to be SO juicy!! Very excited to try that and I must go to the Kanaya Hotel-- Absolutely breathtaking!!!
It was amaaaazing!! All of it!
I admired the taste of this wagyu beef, because of its perfect marbling, the beef grilled on its own fat realy rich, creamy & juicy. Whoah mouth watering😋
Oh please make sure to try when you visit!
@@JapanbyFood Ill surely will, please do vlogs on Japanese desserts too. I Think local dessert is the best in the heart of Tokyo & Narita. Again More power to your channel, Ill do watch you all the time😊
Nice ma'am I really love Japan
We love it too!
Shizuka ❤️
I eat Kobe beef at Kobe very expensive but really good but little vegetables , later I notice that in japan most steak house or restaurants they didn’t have salad go with your steak like most western country .
As. As Leah’s a great vlog !
Thanks for watching 😍
Shizuka is a perfect host as always. The video editors and editing is getting better and better as I follow this channel. You guys and girls are totally amazing. The food looks delicious. The only problem I had was the second restaurant. Waiter with bandages on the thumb! Big no no.... ruined the food perfectness for me.
Thank you! We will keep doing our best!❤
Beeeeeeef, I mean, Shizukaaaaaaa
Love your show but still can’t get to Japan
We hope you can visit soon!
I'll take one of everything, please.
Totally 💯
If you put hard captions at the far bottom of the video frame it will get cut when zoomed on nowadays wider than 16:9 smartphones
I LOVE YOU
Steak! 🥩
😋
It will be great if you include the price as well going forward?
👍
juice
Prince Bradycard
Which beef is better, Kobe or Tochigi ?
It’s very hard to compare! Both are award-winning beef, and both come in A5 grade! 💯
Just curious, does it ever happen where you try out a place but it's actually not that great, so you have to scrap the footage and it was pretty much time wasted?
Rather eat the hamburger but I'll eat everything lol
wait a min... "little bites because I'm a lady" when she eats the vegetables, but starts off the steak with a huge chunk, not just a slice.. ha ha, my kind of lady...
Team Shizzy ❤
8000 yen? 😳 That's the equivalent of $62 for the tiny 120g steak with mushroom sauce 😳
It is quite a fancy place 😅
I like my hamburger steak with a splash of shoyu. I know, it's sacrilegious.
Uuuuh sounds nice!
Please do not do SHORTS like most vloggers do , too tiny for senior citizen viewers like us , pls be considerate !!! Thanks
The Japanese are eating real steak while we eat gmo chemicals filled McDonald’s junk.
