The crazy thing is that the average club goer wouldn't be able to discern the difference between this and fairly simple 1-2 track mixing with occasional effects drop ins. For me, it's the choice between spending hours mastering technique or hours finding the best tracks for the mix progression. Hats off though, this is expert level stuff.
As soon as the transition is done, you forget about it. The only thing you might remember when you get home is that really cool song that was played. Much more important to get a sense of direction and good song choice than having really cool transitions.
Personally, having these techniques helps me as it allows me to move around different tracks whenever I need to. For example, when I found a track that doesn't seem to work well, I definitely want to change it asap to another track, but in a smooth way. That's IMO when these techniques can save my night.
I think that even if people don't actually notice it being better they still feel it. They just have a better time or become more immersed in the experience
Every second, every transition is just so smooth i literally have to watch it again and again to clear how this transition happened. Juat amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥💥💥💥💥🌟. Lots Of Love from india to the whole team of crossfader 😃🇮🇳
This is so good! I'm moving to my first apartment soon and I hope the freedom of living alone not having to care about my work at home mom's working hours will help me get more practice in and help me kickstart my career. I've wanted to be a DJ literally as long as I can remember and it feels so good to finally get to chase that dream.

Which ever controller you get make sure it fits you. I got the ddj-400n because I plan on djing clubs and larger venues and the controls are similar to the standard club sets. What ever your reason just make sure you're happy with the controller. With the controller I have you could buy it used because the software is free to download and it unlocks when the controller is hooked up. 👌
Me too! I Mixed just only with Virtual Dj for myself and now I got myself a Pioneer XDJ XZ.^^ Maybe a little expesive to begin with but thas mostly the case with me... Now I Just have to wait for it cause microchips are still a problem.
I feel like ya'll used to do these on CDJs more often, or maybe I just found a gang of them during lockdown. (What happened to SundayDJSkillzzzz & Midweek Motivation??) Either way, I've learned so much from these mixes, it would be amazing if you started posting them regularly again.
The XZ runs on the older processors so compared to the CDJ-3000 it is a little slow. Doesn't detract from the experience of playing on the unit though! We're still big fans of the XZ
@@Crossfader Was going to get one of these last year but couldn't find one is stock anywhere so went with Denon SC 5000 and an X1800 mixer. Would love to see you do a similar set on a Denon setup, this is my kinda music and I'm looking at way's to spruce up my set. It would be great to see your work flow so I could get some ideas 👍
Moving down 4 means going down a minor third. In this case, going from 8A which is minor to 4B which is major. 4B contains similar notes to the minor third of 8A so it works here.
i absolutely love all these techniques and transitions, but i feel like labelling this as a 'club techniques' video is a bit misleading because a lot of clubs (especially older/smaller ones where less experienced djs might get their first residency etc) don't have brand new equipment, and a lot of older cdjs don't have such good hot cue support etc
I have this controller, one problem I face is low volume when i record my set. Do you know how to record in a normal volume, there should be something to do with the settings. Thx
@@lewistownsend5961 thanks good to know that, i was mainly doing that but it seems like my master output was recorded at a lower decibel and i was wondering hownto correct that actually. Something on the utilities menu, which records as you hear from the monitors?
@Graham Fearon cheers, i think my settings were ok, but i noticed i must "normalize" my tracks on a software like audacity. Increased the volume for some tracks brought up to - 1 db. Thx for advice.
The first song is missing in the list 'music in this video'. I can only read 'Groove Society', but i'm not able to find the song. Can anyone help me out?
i don't understand all the complaint on this comment section lmao. this dude made a 14 min video showing technics that can be spread out for a longer set.
I have had the xz for 6 months and love it but last night I was playing with rekordbox and the unit froze, screen was all screwed up . The music was still playing but none of the controls were responsive. Had to power off and restart to get going again. A bit worried about it . Has this happened to anyone?
That's been happening with my rekordbox lately.... Screen freezing, not allowing me to do anything for a good 10 sec or more before it kicks back in.... Very laggy.. I thought maybe it was to do with my Internet or something.... Feck knows man but I feel your pain...
Must be the style of music and all the effects and hot cue stuff, but I run away as fast as I can if I hear a DJ playing like this. Great technique, but I don’t get it🤷♂️. (Old school, 46 years old, sorry kids)

All the filtering and scratching is unnecessary imo
And the hot cue jump , most people who see acts live just wanna listen to music and dance

Ddj 400 goated as far as entry level controllers and the price isn’t bad

Hey there! Can you please tell me if this is better than the new Rx3? And I think there will be no update on the xz soon...maybe 2-3 years later 🙏🙌🏻
What gear do you use to record your dj equipment from this angle and still have all the freedom of movement?
You are a legend mixing, this is a great Track selection as well. Keep it simple with house, DnB, EDM, Dubstep is 💩.
I’m new to this. Great mix. But why can he mix a 8A with a 4B? Thanks.

very true.. at bes youll have a cd and mixer with some loop buttons and thats about it

Best recoding volume is to have the channel gains at 3 yellow bars. I’ve found that doesn’t clip, nor does it distort.

It’s such a nice controller but it’s a little bit tricky to go from this to club set up as there is only one screen and in the club there is two!
yeah but the layout is the same
That depends on the gear u use. But the lay out it generally the same
It’s identical minus the pads seriously look at the pics
