Clay, ThanX for your expertise experience with the co sensor & gas tank bracket on the 9k Predator. I had a 8750 for 14 yrs that just died. Just bought a new 9k, sure enough bracket has the same clearance and dont want gen to cut out under house load. You R right on. Saves me a lot of griefffff ! 😅 Tom C. Penna.
Yw glad it was helpful, make sure you get the 2 yr warranty it is worth it. I do Auto detailing and run these things 8 plus hours a day 6 days a week. Of course nothing last but the replacement process is simple to swap the old generator for a new one. Drain the gas get the approval code from the hot line and take it back. They swap it no questions asked. Just pay for a new warranty each time.
Thanks broth I bought the same generator a couple months ago and I haven’t used it mainly I bought just in case I lost power in my home in north texas during the winter storms and I didn’t notice this flaw thanks for sharing this video
That could have been a costly fire. Excellent mod to the tank mount, as simple as it was. Make sure and give it a couple coats of engine or similar paint to prevent rust. I'm in the Columbia,Sc area and our similar humidity will form rust in minutes at times (almost instantly if sanding through primer on a car or sheet metal). Another great tip! The Old Man.
@@Whereisclay We should be thanking you. A generator fire fed by 6 gallons of gas is life threatening. I’m about to buy another Harbor Freight generator and will check every generator I own for this fatal flaw. You provided a public service and I, for one, am grateful.
Glad I could help, I do detailing so it was in my van and would run all day. I thought the same when I found the leak, I was like oh crap!! Have a good one!
Great video. Clarity is terrific.

Could you put rubber bushings under the lip of the tank to raise it up some ?
I'm sure you could, but I didn't think about that. Maybe a good idea.

@@Whereisclay You are one lucky UA-camr.
100% silicone caulk after the grind off to ensure there is no metal on metal contact. Seems like a very dangerous situation to occur over the muffler
Agreed, hopefully harbor freight will look into production and make the change to prevent this. Thanks for watching!
Genius (I'm going to check mine ,thanks)
Thank you!

That is a real bitch, when you have to fix or modify a NEW machine.
Could have fixed the tank with JB Weld.
Thought about that but the vibration would have created the same issue. This way it fixed it permanently.
HF could have fixed it by having good design.
