Verrazano is not a "loser". He has a particular running style, which most horses have. He also has his bad days and his good days, which most horses also have. He was not on his best day and the race did not set up for him the way it was run. But that does not make him a "loser". The horses give every ounce of what they have every time, win or lose, and any idiot that bashes a horse in such a way must really have issues.
So happy for Goldencents! Was tried at over a mile with a good win in the SA Derby, tried 6/7 furlongs and I think we now know his perfect distance. What a great horse hopes he stays around. Verrazano is a loser- owners selling him out to stud.

Speed bias didn't help Broadway empire much.. Just sayin. Difference between a speed bias and a rail bias, is a speed bias are merry go round races where all the horses in front hold (see 1995 breeders cup races) This day was an inside bias. Plenty of horses made up ground up the rail. Like golden ticket in this race. Rail was what was golden, not necessarily only speed.
