I've probably said this a million times, but Against Me! fans truly are the greatest, it's hard not to smile at the dedication and spirit these fans give.
Despite still believing in the power of the vote to eventually bring about socialist liberal policies...these trying times has me breaking out the black flag and screaming at the top of my lungs for change. As a person that has studied history for ten years in academia I can attest real change rarely happens. When things start breaking the powers at be pay attention. That results in arrests and severe backlash from conservative forces, but it often brings real change. As an activist these days you have to balance the idea that I may get arrested or beaten to support what I believe in over the idea that that sacrifice may change the country. This is a choice we must all make.
@TheLiesette Capitalism is NOT a form of government. It is an economic system. The problem with us is, however, that our government seems to cradle any and every form of social and economic control. It won't take a long time for anarchy to work. I'm sure you heard the line "Do you remember '36?" That's a reference to the Spanish Civil War, in which anarchists, trotskyists, and russian communists fought against the Spanish State and won. Had it not been for the russians, it would have been
@TheLiesette (continued) an effective Anarchist revolution. You'd probably enjoy the book Homage to Catalonia, by George Orwell. It's a beautiful piece of literature describing the struggle of the Anarchists and Trotskyists. I began reading it as a Trotskyist, but more recently have grown distrustful of status quo democracy, in favour of self-government... and still, its just as beautiful a book as ever.
Does it really matter? I think all that anyone should care about in this video is that a group of people are having a great time and singing their hearts out.
@TheManiacApproach in some cases, but when your roots are in being anti-corporate anarchists and you sign with a corporate record label, you are selling out.
@joestrummer2007 Most anti-capitalist anarchists see ownership as an inherently authoritarian concept. We tend to favor personal possession of land and resources based upon occupancy and use.It is our firm belief that no one should be forced to rent him or herself out for profit to a landlord if he or she does not wish to do so.At least that`s the Mutualist view. It`s also important to note that Mutualists see the Free Market and Capitalism as two separate socio-economic modalities, supporting the former and not the latter which is seen as an inherently authoritarian, hierarchical, coercive and exploitative power structure. We oppose State Socialism,Fascism and State Capitalism. Also,AnCaps are generally seen as spoiled rich kids who are largely oblivious to the historical connection of Anarchism to the Radical Left both in the U.S. and Europe.
The term "selling out" is so old and dragged out and thrown as a label at bands who start making more money than they used to. In a world full of music piracy, bands who are able to make plenty of money these days must of really worked their asses off to achieve what they have, because the chances of making money from record sales are extremely slim nowadays, so if they are managing to still make any profit at all, then they must deserve it.
I like government, just not big government, unless it's a huge empire that spans across a hundred planets, then a hundred systems, and then a hundred galaxies. I can tell you all about it.
They're not even using their mics. That is freakin' greatness.

I saw them play in buffalo ny a couple times at a vegan punk house called the last stand, 2003 ish will never forget!!
