    What angle settings did you use for mitre cutting on the gopuram crowd mouldings?

    • @diy-doityourway3779
      @diy-doityourway3779  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you. I used 45 degree miter cuts on the crown molding for gopuram. Inclination angle depends on your available space on the top and how many levels you intend to have for gopuram.

    Had a question, when cutting the moulding for gopuram, did you just cut them at 45 degree angle or was it a bevel cut?

    • @diy-doityourway3779
      @diy-doityourway3779  4 роки тому +1

      Thank You. I did not use bevel cut, I just made a 45 degree cut. The position of the molding is very important when making this cut. I usually draw a line on the miter saw base and make sure the molding is standing along the line while making all the crown molding cuts.

      You do not need a lot of tools, I just happen to own them. But having tools will make things easier. If you would like to own tools, I would recommend miter saw, 18 guage Brad nailer, pocket hole jig, drill and impact driver, clamps. Most of the big cuts, you can get them done at lowes or homedepot.

I know to attach the 'Arch' at top you used the square block for prefect fit. but I was notable to convince my self, and still locks inverted. for next project try to get the square block at the bottom too for the legs. (would you mind to tell me the total project cost. only material) - Thanks

      @diy-doityourway3779  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it and you have a nice eye. yes I had to put the legs upside down for the corner corbels and had to improvise with the legs a little bit as my friend was adamant on the corner corbels. Like you mentioned I looked at the legs with square on top and bottom but the size and width were not fitting in to my build and had to go with what I had available in hand.
      The total cost for material was around 700$ check out the link in description for the list of material.

      Pocket hole joinery is not necessary but I use it for the top part of base so the holes do not show up when you join them with screws. As far as wood I am not sure I get your question. Depth can be set between 14 and 15 inches but nor more than 15.5

      For the front face I use 3/4 inch ply wood. Length would be from end to end which would cover the whole tray, two drawer slides and the two sides (30 + 0.5+0.5+.75+.75) so the total will be 32.5 inches.
      But the easiest way to put a rough piece and mark and then make the cut accordingly. Also the width depends on the trim you are using to cover the front face. I remember using 2.5 inches or 3 inch.

    Nice work and I got lot of ideas for my work. I am stuck at litter angel. The top of the perta is 36 * 15 inches. I have chosen two mounds -
    1. From your list - 4-in x 8-ft White Hardwood Egg and Dart Crown Moulding www.lowes.com/pd/EverTrue-4-in-x-8-ft-White-Hardwood-Egg-and-Dart-Crown-Moulding/1000442467
    2. From Homedepot -
    3/4 in. x 5 in. Hardwood Dentil Crown Moulding

    I am planning for two steps similar to the photo.
    1 step- mounding from Home Depot
    2 step- egg and dart crown from Lowe’s
    Any suggest on how to calculate on the mitter angles?
    Thanks

      Hi I am afraid 15 inches width on the top would be more cramped and might not be enough for two level gopuram. It is very hard to suggest an angle. I would increase the angle (move the bottom part of crown molding closer to miter fence when cutting the crown molding) and make the crown molding as steep as possible. Then dry fit without any glue or nails. This way you will have an idea on how you can address this. I ran in to the same issue on my first build and built the molding steep like I mentioned above. There will be some wastage this way but will save your effort on your build.

    @DIY: What was the total cost for the materials?
    Thanks in advance

      The budget for material was around 650 to 700 USD. You can find the lost of materials and cost in the excel sheet that is the description of other video in the channel.
