    The 1.5 inch padding is a great idea. I can use 2x4’s all day long to do so. Such a simple idea, yet perfect for almost every woodworking project I can think of.

    Kids, I felt so happy. Great kids. Little ones, you meticulously crafted the Mandir. Small suggestion, apply gold or silver colour gently with the finger on the crafted design parts.

    Watched it many times. You guys did it like pro. I do carpentry and my changes are using 2x2 for framing and .5 or .3 inch plywood to reduce weight, also use wood glue. I loved the idea of a detached units that will help in mobility . Great design

    Very beautiful Mandir made with love and care. Only thing I would like to change here is, make 2 drawers for the bottom cabinet, because I think things on the back tend to get ignored. (Saying from my personal experience.) And thank you for the spreadsheet.👌👌👌😍👌

    I have watched this many times over now, since I am planning to make one myself. Although much cheaper than this. The moldings are too expensive, and I will have to make do with something smaller instead. I need to look for the right kinda finials for the gopuram top. I haven't found these at my HD, gonna try Lowe's, maybe they do.

    Great Job.I am planning to start the project with the your video as reference.Really your family inspired me to do this project. I had a couple of questions 1)what is the length of the plywood at 3:21sec for joining both the pieces...? 2) what is the length of the plywood at 3:51seconds..?

    • @ArkWorks
      @ArkWorks  2 роки тому +1

      Hello, 24 inches at 3:21 and top plywood at 3:51 is around 40 inches I think, it all depends on how much space you have and what size you want to build, I suggest figure out your space and then build size it accordingly, cut the material as you go along, don't cut all at once. good luck!

    Hi, great work. Really inspiring and I have just bought a second hand TV cabinet which I will be converting to a Mandir but the hardest part of the process is making gopuram.

    • @ArkWorks
      @ArkWorks  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks, will try when time permit, its not really that difficult once you figure out the angle, search for "compound angle calculator", there is lot of information on web. Try with scrap piece, after few cuts you will get there. Good Luck!

    Great work by engaging the kids. Great effort. I have few suggestions though. I do similar kind of stuff so thought I should share my points. 1. You all have skills so upgrade the tools - Regular Miter saw to a sliding double bevel miter saw. 2. Use nailer instead of nail and hammer, as it is time consuming, while nail guns with a comperssor are fast and literally invisible. 3. Mahogony is a bit dark color so if you all use gold paint ($2 per small bottle in Walmart) on the special designs on the sides, on the Gopura Kalasam and on the door decorations, they will look spectacular. 4. Last but not the least, for the door use some cabinet hinges which are very easy to install and look professional.
    Overall a great product, excellent commentary. Keep up the good work.

      Hello Murali, Thanks for valuable suggestions. It will be helpful for the people planning to build Mandir. That was our first detail project, we started with vague idea and figured out things in the process. Thanks for the suggestion. I build only for the temple we manage here in Richmond and of course for my home. I will definitely consider your suggestion. Equipment is not that expensive, Hitachi miter saw is $150, circular saw can be around $100, these are the only expensive stuff, others are not much, you really don't need work bench I have, some of the equipment (like drills) almost every home owner have them. and these equipment can be used for many years for multiple projects, there is long term value :-)

    Hi, I have seen your video multiple times and finally got courage to start the project. Bought all materials but while making gopuram I am not able to understand what angle to cut the moulding and how to measure that angle on miter saw( bevel angle, miter angle and slope)If you can please share some resource that I can use and your help is very appreciated

    • @ArkWorks
      @ArkWorks  11 місяців тому

      Enter your gopuram slope angle, no.of sides to get the Miter and Blade Angle (Play around with scrap pieces to get a good fit)
      www.blocklayer.com/compoundmitereng.aspx
      Example: inputs: Sides (4), Slope (59), Horizontal
      Miter Angle 27.3°
      Blade Angle 37.3°
      Google for Miter angle and blade angle in UA-cam, there are lot of vides
      jansson.us/jcompound.html
      - Use N-sided Box
      - Enter your inputs
      if you have same dimensions as ours, then I mentioned the angles in the video, try that with scrap pieces until you get a good join.

      Hi Bharathi, If you are interested to build, I would suggest you to buy a small miter saw, you can find one for around $100, look out for sale during thanksgiving. Miter saw will be useful for any home improvement projects. If you want to build Mandir similar to mine, follow the instructions in the video and let me know if you have any questions along the way. I have link in the descriptions with all the material you can purchase from Lowes for this project. Good Luck with you build.
