It's pretty much storm prep all year long in Florida. This young lady sure was ready. Tagging the animals is a great tool. The cow was like.....chewchewchew! Prayers for everyone impacted by Ian. We really were blessed in the panhandle this time, mostly wind. Donations, assistance, food, water, prayers are all on the way!

Bless your heart for taking such wonderful care of your precious animals. You certainly have empathy and compassion which is so sorely needed in this world. More people need to be like you and look after their animals better,. not leave them outside in all weathers tethered, that or deliberately abandoned and left to the fate of this devastating hurricane.

It doesn't look like she is an area that is particularly prone to massive flooding or storm surge. If you are in an area where is it more likely to deep flood and animals get loose, halters are not a good idea. They can get caught on downed trees/limbs, fencing. Better to spray paint your phone number on their sides. For those that say paint is bad, at least it stays. It can always be shaved off afterward. And for those who say evacuate, not everyone has access to a trailer big enough or time to haul out. I chose to evacuate for a fire, and it took 3 hours and 2 trailers to get the majority of my animals out and housed just 20 miles away. For a hurricane, you might have to haul 100 miles to get to safer areas, and then have a place to put them and someone care for them while you go back for second load, etc.

I am not sure how I feel about this video, or her choices. Is she poor? Could she not afford to move the animals, or did she simply choose not to? I would be more confident of my feelings, had she spent the night in the barn.

From my understanding, she recently just built her barn a year or two ago (there is a whole bunch of videos on her UA-cam on the process) and they took certain precautions to make it hurricane resistant. I not 100% sure but I also think they don’t live right on the coast, but that they live more inland. Having a set up like this in Florida would be a luxury, and not having to spend several of hours of time and money trying to move animals around. Also by keeping the horses in their home environment keeps them calmer, and less likely to stress colic or get sick from being around new horses in an new environment. Most of the time hurricanes are not as bad as Ian was, so considering all the precautions that she took I think that she did well.

I watched her vlogs preparing for the hurricane. I don’t remember her channel name, but they’re definitely not poor 😅 pretty sure the barn is hurricane proofed. Plus she has dogs and cats that needed care also in their home.
