  • Hello everyone,
    Welcome back to my Fishing 247 channel. I really appreciate everyone watching and subscribing to my channel. It means a lot to me. I will try to have a fishing video for you to enjoy weekly from now on. If I am unable to go fishing, I will have videos relate to fishing, cooking, or tutorials.
    ***The trip was very special to me because it was my first trip since I got infected with Covid 19 after Thanksgiving. I am still recovering and hopefully will be healthy enough to do more videos for you.
    ***Important: Thank you so much for watching and subscribing to my channel. You are the reason for me to do my videos. Please continue to support me. All the money I receive from youtube will be used to help others to have opportunities to go fishing.
    Today I went fishing with my friends Luis and Troy today on my 15' Gregor. We launched out of Oyster Point Marina. We mainly fished from Oyster Point to Hunter Point from 20' to 50' deep. We caught 2 halibuts by drifting on frozen anchovies on the top of outgoing tide straight out from Oyster Point in 20' deep. After a quick hook-up, the bite shut down and we started trolling and caught 3 more shakers near Hunter Point.
    The wind started blowing around 11 AM and we end our trip at 2 PM.
    I had a great day fishing with my friends Luis and Troy and had great memories with them.
    Be happy, stay healthy, stay safe, and go fishing. Have a great day.

    Great video! I have a question about managing the lines. Is it possible to troll six lines without them tangling each other? (This is for ocean fishing (not in the SF Bay). Thanks!

    • @Fishing247
      @Fishing247  Рік тому

      Yes you can. You need to use different sizes of sinkers to allow the lines to be separated so they do not tangled each other. The heavier sinkers will be in front and lighter sinkers are behind. If you have rod holder outriggers, you can spread the lines out from the boat. When you have multiple lines, be careful when you turn. Do not turn sharp and also speed up when you turn so line do not cross each others. Good luck and be safe, and happy fishing.

      Thanks for watching. The size of the J hook and treble hooks depends on the baits. If small live baits, use small hooks so that the bait can swim and If using frozen baits, use hook sizes depends on how big is the hooks. Do not use hoo bigger than the width of the baits. Good luck fishing. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks.

      @@Fishing247 thanks for the reply. So let's say I'm drifting frozen anchovies in capitola on the skiff, would a 2/0 hook and a size 2 treble hook be alright?

    • @Fishing247
      @Fishing247  3 роки тому +1

      @@itzyabui yes. Or you can you a 1/0 J hook. You most likely to get the fish with the treble hook. Make you to use magic thread to curve so the frozen anchovy can spin. You can also brine the anchovy a day before fishing. Your anchovies will be shinier and last longer. Use salt, water and Mrs Steward's bluing, mix it and put the anchovies in the liquid and in the refrigerator the day before going fishing. Good luck. 🎣🐟🐟

      @@Fishing247 Okay, I'll use 1/0 j hook and size 2 treble for the brined anchovies and frozen squid. This information is very helpful so thanks again for the reply.

      @@itzyabui if you use frozen squid s, use bigger J hook (3/0) and 1/0 treble hook. Don't brine squid. If weak current, it will be more effective to troll slowly, from 1.5 to 2.5 mph

    • @Fishing247
      @Fishing247  3 роки тому

      Thanks for watching. I will drift when there is good or strong current. Your boat will move like you are trolling. When crrent is weak I troll so my baits can spin. Also trolling can cover more areas or you can go where you want to cover. Good luck fishing and let me know if you have any questions. Stay safe.

      @@solo022667 I have never fished for halibuts in the South. I guess you can drift for them everywhere. The how big is the sinker depends on the depth, current and winds. As long as your sinker can bounce up and down, not dragging, you will be ok. Also make sure your bait do not drag on the bottom and covered with mud or stuff. For baits, I am not sure what halibuts prefer down there. Most ocean Halibuts love squids, anchovies, sardines. You can also use scrubs lure too. Good luck fishing
