  • The Hooded Crow - Noisier Than Thou (Sixpack version)
Written by Reinder Dijkhuis, previously unreleased.
Recorded in 1993. Demixed and remixed by Johan Dijkhuis in 2024
This will be the last Hooded Crow post, however, some Hooded Crow songs will return at a later stage, recorded by some of my other bands.
This particular recording is a bit of an odd one, but worth including for several reasons. It was recorded in 1993, before changing our name to The Hooded Crow; we were calling ourselves Sixpack at the time. This is the only recording with our then bass player Bart Beerends (R.I.P.), and features Rodney de Vries as a guest vocalist, as our then vocalist Marcel Rouwé was not comfortable singing this particular song. Therefore, this marks the first time 3/4 of my later band Vicious Visjes recorded a song together. Unfortunately, the guitars are a bit out of tune in certain parts.
Rodney de Vries - Lead vocals
Michel Bouma - Lead guitars & vocals
Reinder Dijkhuis - Guitar & vocals
    Bart Beerends - Bass guitar
    Johan Dijkhuis - Drums

Ooh, I love this. And I don't remember any of it, so it's a revelation! One problem with the demo version, in a way, was that it was too good, because having more polished players took some of the edge off the song. This is better by being worse.
Sad to hear about Bart, though.
