Is it just me or does Mia explain a lot about why Rory and Lorelei are the way they are. If you overheard them talking wouldn’t you assume that Mia was the grandmother and not Emily?
Yeah, It could be argued that Mia was the improved mother figure to Lorelai. Back when Lorelai was just a kid and started out out at the inn as maid, Mia was probably more of a mother to her than Emily ever was.

There are white French people with the same accent. French is not a race it’s a nationality. It's not racist. Racism is stating that someone deserves lesser treatment because of their race. Expecting people to adopt the first language of the country they are living in, is kind of logical, and in my view, very justified. Though quite outspoken of her to say it so directly, which, again in my humble view, her right, what with freedom of speech and all.
