    When someone tells me that they are getting married after only a very short courtship and engagement, I always say that if this is forever, why the rush. You have all your lives to spend together, enjoy each phase instead of rushing through this.

    • @StephanieHarlowe
      @StephanieHarlowe  2 роки тому +351

      there is absolutely no rush... there's no law you have to get married, right? But I think people get caught up in the romance and the instant connection that they confuse with the greatest love they have ever known.

      Also as someone who comes from a very religious background my family members get married as soon as they can so they can start having babies. Just something they do. Also their engagements don’t even last a year. Usually engaged for 6-8 months before their wedding. Idk weird to be but whatever

    Hi! I am one of your follower and this peeked my interest since I am from Fiji born and raised, now living in the USA. Yes I agree Turtle Island resort is luxury. From my experience we don’t have funeral homes in Fiji. When someone passed bodies are stored in mortuaries like a cooler where families can pick them up for burial. I’m not familiar about the embalming process and I’ve never heard about it back at home. I do agree that I wished her family wasn’t misled about bringing her body back to the US for a second autopsy and opinion. Fiji is not as advanced when it comes to technology but the natives are very friendly 🥰 I’m so sorry about this beautiful woman’s loss and hope that justice will be served. As always thank you 🙏 Stephanie.

      You are 100% right. I believe in lust at first sight, or attraction, maybe even chemistry or a connection. But love is a verb, not a feeling. It grows over time and comes from a deliberate choice you make to show up, work as a team, communicate, and do this thing called life together (the good, the bad, and the ugly). You make that choice when you decide to have a baby and those feelings grow over months. I actually loved my girls before first sight.

Emotionally & physically, it also came out he was dealing drugs and taking them in secret. He wouldn't let me go. I took a job 200miles away to get away from him. Ive been with my husband for 19years this year. We took it slow and got to know each other in the beginning, we had massive highs and massive lows, but got through them and its made us stronger. I agree. My husband and I got married a couple months after meeting. We were each divorced (not our choices) and he had a daughter. We've been married over 10 years, and we have a bio daughter and 2 sons adopted from foster care. But even though it worked out great for me, I wouldn't suggest that someone get married that quickly. We were fortunate. But exceptions don't make the rule.

    My husband said the moment we met, he had a feeling that he wanted to marry me. This was during a back and forth with an abusive man and I fell back into that relationship one last time before I had the courage and ability to leave it. When we picked back up, I’d done some growing and maturing and therapy to get better with life and relationships. I believe that happened to make us stronger. We got married about a year and a half later after dating and I had put that part of my life behind me. I didn’t have those initial feelings due to circumstances. So I believe you can have good initial feelings of what you want out of a relationship with someone, but we both attest to the time to let a relationship develop also to back up the initial assumption of how you feel about someone.

      My grandmother knew her husband a few months married to life do them part. The same for a few of my uncles and aunts but that was in more sample times and everybody and their mom wasn’t a hoe. Than I have some date and other play marriage for years and their relationship don’t last the first two years of marriage. How I see it you have to be careful period in picking a mate. You could be wasting years for someone that will never marry you or date around for 3-4 years not good if you couldn’t find the right person a few times, specially if you want to have children as a female in wed lock. Those years add up. You need to listen to your family, friends and that small voice that says something isn’t right. Chris Watz had a lot of red flags before she married him and her friends and family point it out.
      I also learn people can surprise you. There too many true crime where people thought they knew their mate, friend or kin. But found out they was a serial killer or doing super bad things behind close doors. You will never really know the soul of the person but that person themselves in God. You never will know all their thoughts. People just have to be careful as times got way darker. I seen to more relationship end badly when they waited and thought they knew that person. To me people are way to quick to have sex outside of marriage and worst way too many partners. No one want to point to the real elephant in the room. At the end of the day there no eat your cake and have a party too. We getting more and more mess up due too this. Having a lot of partners even with men create emotional scars which people carry into the next relationship.People broken homes and single mothers don’t help it at all. As families break down more the more society break down. There getting less damage goods in the dating market and I sad for all that are out there dating.

Maybe Kristie (Christie?) felt the same way. Maybe she would have left his ads and had him locked up. She never had the opportunity. Thank you for this Coffee and Crime, Stephanie, IPV is such a difficult topic to cover. I just wanted to add to your point about the 'love at first sight' thing that, according to forensic psychologist and author Jane Monckton Smith (her book on the topic is well worth a read as she includes anecdotes of her encounters with men who've murdered partners in her professional role - fascinating), one of the signs of a potentially abusive situation is a very quick development into a serious relationship. Obviously, most people whose relationships develop quickly aren't going to be abused or murdered, BUT it is one of the 8 signs she flags up. Men (statistically less so, women) who control tend to want to move things quickly to gain that power from the outset.

    Thank you as ALWAYS Stephanie. I have gotten married REAL QUICK in my 20's in Vegas.... last minute wedding...... luckily, we BOTH realized our error in judgement and got it annulled . He and I remained friends for many years after that. NEVER rush into a marriage... :) Hugs

    Just what I needed this morning! Queen of crime and a cup of coffee!

      Honestly have tried the Criminal coffee and I liked all 3 but the undercover was my fav! I wanted to keep the bags bc in person they are so cool! I’m fan girling a bit but I try a lot of the sponsors too (gotta help out where I can) just got the 3 pack of native and I chose cucumber mint (nice but maybe like a deodorant scent) ginger mule (5 stars) and the citrus spritz (best of the group) however key lime and sugar by far my fav!!
