The funniest part about this is that the unreleased Sonic 3 Retro Engine mobile port planned to have a "Boss Attack" gamemode as stated by Stealth himself in a blog post linked to the description of the S3&K proof of concept video.
For the original debug sonic 3 version go to angel island and hang on the swings to do debug mode here;left left left,right right right,up up up then press start+a then go to mushroom valley zone act 1 and hang on to the grabby thing or whatever that is you can tell me in the replies,so repeat the same thing left left left,right right right,up up up then press start+a again go to any level you wish and press A+B+C until the level begins press b to enter debug mode c to place an object a to switch gravity then to get out of debug mode press b again this is how you get debug mode
Scripts, basically what makes things, work, coding, stored in text files called lemons, and some rawdata, it's just your regular genesis data that's injected as a file via pointers and stuff
