    Not a lot of videos out there on stucco molding ; kudos to you for making one.
    Did the original molding rot and if so was the cause addressed?
    In any case, given window trim’s propensity to rot, it would have been better to pre-paint the sub-strip of moulding on all sides before installing.
    I understand that pre-painting ( and waiting for it to dry) adds a cost that many customers would not be willing to pay - especially if it turns a 1 day job into a 2.
    DIYers though should definitely take the time to do so.

      Thanks for your feedback! I'm not sure if the original molding rotted or not. It was removed prior to me being called. As I recall though, I think some framing work had been done and the framers didn't know where to get replacement stucco molding - or even what to do with it if they found it!
      Painting all four sides of the sub-trim would certainly provide an extra layer of protection but I'm not sure it would be necessary if the exposed areas were painted, kept in good condition, and the edges sealed well with exterior grade caulk. But hey, if you've got the time and the inclination, why not?!

    Could have used almond color caulk, that way you don't have a jagged line of white caulk on the stucco.

      @dmech5135 Great idea! You would just have to make sure it was a paintable type of caulk in case the home owner ever wanted to update the exterior paint color.

      Hey, thanks for your support of my channel! I think I charged $200 for this job, including materials. It was located in Whittier so you might find the prices a little higher in the OC.

    That top piece molding on corner looks destroyed, my home was built in late 50s I replaced it once I replaced the original one few years back there are different sizes I used the biggest one I could find but I did best I could to fit it there is yet very small gaps from stucco to edge of molding so debating whether not to replace it again to try find better molding being repainting the house & want everything to fit in snug I know I will yet have to use some stucco caulking that home Depot sells but finding the exact molding is a run around to different stores.

      @fixitfoxinc  Рік тому +1

      Yes, you're right, I should have mentioned one can buy the stucco moulding in different thicknesses. All the wood and trim these days is getting thinner though as corporations seek larger profits. That's why I just tuck thin pieces of dimensional moulding behind the decorative moulding if I am still left with a gap. Good luck with your project, let me know if I can be of further assistance!

      @@fixitfoxinc yes so true way these big corps are these days are making things smaller but yet charging more money, I was thinking maybe even just to leave the molding I installed few years back & go over them with brick kind of molding I think it would give it somewhat a modern day look, it's a one car garage but I just want to be sure it will have a good outcome.

    • @fixitfoxinc
      @fixitfoxinc  Рік тому

      Hmm, I agree the brick moulding would certainly give it a nice modern look but because of the tapered edge on stucco moulding, a brick moulding might not mesh well with it and you might end up using a lot of caulk. Let me know what you eventually decide to do and how it turns out. 👍

    They have stucco caulk that has sand in it
