Hi Peter, thank you for showing this to us. I appreciate it.
It’s my pleasure
Thank you. The only video i could find on how to put the movement back in. Much appreciated.
My 1965 Omega 560. has a loose case latch but I can't even get the case back off since I don't have a tri case back wrench. I guess I should take it to someone to have it looked at. Mine is just like yours but it's a poor man's Omega date without a Seamaster logo. Great upload!
You can get a case opener kit at harbor freight
@@watchesandjewelry Right ok. Thanks for your time!
Hi peter, thanks for showing us this knowledge, do you have any videos on how to fix a slightly loose minute hand? Thankyou
learned a lot in this video thanks Peter! love my vintage omegas 🙏🏽💎 and these clear visual instructions definitely helped me open up my vintage seamaster deville and see the movement and caseback and dial, subbed to your channel!
Thanks Peter. I didn’t take photos when uncasing this and was confused by the locking ring.
I did really enjoy the video due to the fact that I like seamasters and always have at least 10 of them depending on swapping or selling but they are very good watches to collect thanks for the good video
I just rebuilt a seamaster two days ago. I’ll be filming a reviewer and history video of it today. Lol. They are wonderful watches. I’m amazed how few people I deal with don’t know how to change the date on some of the vintage models. Thanks for the comments.
Mines a fifty five Seamaster, no date and back says Seamaster and waterproof, no fancy seal, is it legit, very smooth second hamd
I appear to have a model of Seamaster my dad left me close to if not identical to the one you're working on here.
Question, I've gotten to a point where I've removed the movement from the case, and I'm trying to figure out what's next. Before disassembly, the watch's crown (pressed in) would on longer wind when turned clockwise, and when I shook the watch to wind it with the weight mechanism, nothing seemed to happen. Could something be bunged up or seized, or could the watch at some point have been overwound causing it to lock in place?
I'd appreciate your advice, certainly if this is getting past my skills (so far I'm just a watch disassembler and IT guy, not a watchmaker!) I'd rather take it to a local shop than risk permanent damage. Thanks in advance, and thanks for providing such a detailed step-by-step video, liked and subscribed!
Hi, many thanks for this video! A quick question, I have this movement and the crown (female) is missing, do yo know where I could find a replacement? Many thanks in advance
I have this watch but my crystal has an inner ring and outer ring. I can get the inner ring in the crystal and push it into the case but the outer ring I don’t get fit over the crystal. Any advice on that?
Lovely watch can you tell me the year of it as the markets look different too some av seen
Helpful video for an unusual case structure, thank you!
I have this exact watch without the date ..... I need the ring that locks the glass in plaace. do you sell parts?
Hi thanks for the video. This clears up a lot. I just bought a seamaster off eBay and I’m thinking it’s going to open like this. I’ll see when I get it. Is there anyway I can tell it must be opened from the front?
Is there no back access?
There are several different cases types for seamasters from this era. If you don’t see an obvious seam on the back of the watch, then chances are it opens from the top. Others have the typical screw back cover however, those came later.
nO
Was it really necessary to remove the movement to adjust the speed
This case has no back cover. The crystal has to be removed as well as the split stem. If you have a watch with a back cover you will not have to remove the movement to time it
Nice ! I bought a ladies omega Constellation on Ebay and noticed it was running wY to fast like a few hrs ahead every day so I'm wondering if I'm still able to bring it back down to where it's supposed to be!
Check if it isn't magnetized
i have my dads it has the Untied States Steel logo (USS) on its face it was for 40 yrs service - can it be fixed i live in lorain ohio it was given in 1980 what do you think its worth
I have a customer here in SW Florida who buys vintage sea master watches twice a month. I have serviced most of them for him. So far the only issues I’ve had have been finding one original crown for one of the models. If the watch doesn’t work, my first guess is that it might have been in storage so long that it needs cleaning and timing. If there is anything else wrong with it than it would need to be looks at and verified. I generally charge about 200.00 for the service plus any miscellaneous parts that may be required. If you want to send it for an estimate you can go to myjewelrybench.com and fill out the form for a quote request. I will get to you once I receive the info on your watch.
Crystal looked scratched and did not see timing machine results🤔
Thank you! Very helpful:)
You’re welcome...
Any idea where I could get a replacement of the silver locking tabs for a similar movement. One of the two appear to be missing.
Are you speaking of the case screws and tabs to hold the movement? If so... try foreign.com
@@watchesandjewelry Yep! Unfortunately the link did not work on my end
Www.ofrei.com
What is a healthy amplitude for this calibre?
Too bad there isn't a better shot of getting the crystal back on. It appears the order and orientation of the 2 metal clips/trim pieces that hold the crystal in place is critical. Can't see the procedure in this video. We're stumped getting the crystal back on our Seamaster Deville...Otherwise, good info.
So after adjusting what how did it perform
Computer time was really good. Customer brought in more watches and does wear the omega a lot. Lol. I think he told me it was running about three minutes slow a month using his phone to time it.
I have a cal 611 which is doing about 2 secs per day and a cal565 which appears to be affected by magnitism so having pre and post demag done to see if we can get it down from 28 secs per day to 3 secs per day or find just what is the problem as it has just had a very expensive rebuild . Watch this space.
It it is magnatized the best tool to use is a watch demagnetizer. You. In a pinch you can use a refrigerator magnet and expose it to the watch and slowly pull it away. This will almost always demagogue a movement. It can however lead to other problems if there is something loose inside. It will not typically cause any damage. If a watch runs well but doesn’t keeep time the first place to look are the balance jewels. Then the balance staff then the pallet fork and escape gear. Sings of a magnetized watch are that they typically run very fast. The hairspring gets magnetized and the coil stickers to itself. It that makes sense.
Hi Peter, I'm just trying to get a handle on what it is doing ,the watch has just been returned after the rebuild where it was running fast so it went back to the repiarer who said it was affected by magnitism, wore it for a few days and then did a time check over 5 days and still running 28 secs fast. Thus doing an indipendant check to see what it is doing. Results should be back later this week. Let you know.
Hi Peter, getting back to the cal 611,I had to get it independantly adjust back and it was down to 3 seca per day.
Rather than yanking the crown out with your fingers on watches that use those dreaded 2-piece stem systems (I really hate them!), try just putting a tweezers between the crown and case, then gently lean it one way or the other and they pop right off.
Your crystal just fell out... Mine has a kind of tension ring it seems.
💯
Sorry, but I gave up watching that, can I suggest you get a manual focus camera, so frustrating
quite agree; regret 20% in focus. had to lie down to settle vertigo.
£1200 watch .......£100 crappy camera ??
@@nmfranklin66 where are your watch repair videos so we can compare?? 🤣
Thank you very much
I reoaired my omega seamaster 1992 200m according to your instructions and i made a video for that in order to help people.
Very informative. Any suggestions in how to remove the green colored corrosion that I noticed when you took the movement out ? Thank you.
do not do this at home unless you want to screw up your watch
If everyone was like you...we'd all still be living in caves.
cringed so hard when you held on to the seconds hand at the end
"T" goes for Titrium = Radioactive. You should have been more careful.
Tritium is radioactive but decays by relatively benign (weak) beta radiation - can't even go through the outer layer of dead skin. Also, since the watch is 60 years old and tritium has a half-life of 12 years, it has lost most of its radioactivity. It likely barely glows in the dark anymore - maybe for only a few seconds.
@@edixonocilis4482 I would definitely be very cautious manipulating Tritium whatever its age.
Very very unsharp video.
Very hard to watch, you move around to much, your hand gets in the way and sometimes the watch isn’t even in the picture….you need to practice more
Good information. Very bad camera work.
I tried to watch again. Can't. I said bad camera work. I was wrong. It's HORRIBLE camera work!!!
worst out of focus situation on UA-cam.......get it together man......get a new camera!!
