Here's a little tribute to the great Charlie Watts. "Another goodbye to another good friend" as Keith Richards said in the Rolling Stones' "Before They Make Me Run". Rest In Peace.
Charlie Watts always said that he worked for Mick & Keith he had the best job on earth. Charlie was no run of the mill time keeper and his unique drumming made the Rolling Stones songs and music - Great ! RIP..
He does have that working-class ethos about him and I really respect him for those stoic values that, have endeared him to people around the world. Well done on a good job Charlie, rest easy.
@@hemi969 One of my favorite things about Rolling Stones promo videos was Charlie's facial expression's he was totally amused watching Mick running around acting like a diva, he had the best seat in the house. Here's a funny clip of it's Only Rock n' Roll where he almost drowned in bubbles in 1974 on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. ua-cam.com/video/JGaBlygm0UY/v-deo.html
@@hemi969 When I was a kid during the 1960's I fell in love with everything the anarchistic trouble making Rolling Stones. Now that I'm getting up there in years I've always asked myself if I out live these guys what's it going to feel like when each of them dies off. The answer is it's like loosing part of your youth or a irreplaceable friend or even a family member.. Life.. Be Well.
No doubt about that. Most of the time it seems like Keith would be facing Charlie instead of the audience. Those two really set the groove. I think I read Charlie played off Keith. Either way they were joined at the hip with regards to the music. It won’t be the same. Time Waits for no one.
Great tribute, nicely done. It's nice to hear him talk about the things he liked. I used to be very sad, but now i'm glad knowing he got to live the way he wanted to. Rest in peace, Charlie.
My Dad's Marquee Company set up the hospitality suites backstage when the Stones played Slane Castle Ireland in 1982..I met Charlie on Fifth Avenue NYC 10 years ago and walked a few blocks with him..had s good laugh about Slane Castle...Great Guy ☘🕶👍
As so often occurs, a great artist suddenly become *hugely* acclaimed because they died. I mean many many fans loved Charlie as a drummer, but now he's on the cover of every magazine. He might even be a tad embarrassed, but that's part of what made him so smooth and cool as the humble behind the spotlight keeper of the beat.
Charlie Watts was never the most flashy drummer. He wasn't known for the frenzied solos of Cream's Ginger Baker, or for placing explosives in his kick drum like The Who's Keith Moon. Instead, he was the subtle, stoic heartbeat of The Rolling Stones for almost 60 years. We all Brazil fans will miss Charlie. RIP 🇧🇷.p.s Love the tribute man
I saw Kenny Clarke play drums at the Blue Note in Paris in 1964, when my dad's job took our family to France for a year. Great memories! I was 17, hanging out at the Blue Note drinking beer at 1am. That's the same year I became a lifelong Stones fan. Before that I was pretty much into the Beatles, but the Stones were much more to my taste, though I still loved the Beatles.
The best Charlie Watts tribute. The band was so lucky to have had such a genuine down to earth character. It seems though they will find it easy to replace him and go on business as usual , unable to leave the spotlight .
"I just don't do anything, I just play the drums" Don't under estimate yourself Charlie, You were a kick ass drummer, you were awesome! You definitely will be missed. R.I.P.
A very classy tribute. Thank you for this .. my heart needed this. Although he is gone, Charlie will live in our minds and in our hearts. He truly was one of a kind. Such a beautiful human and so unique.
Many times, Charlie mentions the great Jimmy Reed, Jimmy was my all time favorite Blues singer, good to know The great Charlie Watts also liked him. Charlie was born one month before me, we grew up listening to the same type of music. SO LONG CHARLIE
@@YesterdaysPapers Exactly, maybe honour Brian and Stu as well somehow and the various sideman and women (Nicky, Billy, Bobby, etc) I don't think any great band has done something so epic. (Beatles, Zep, Floyd, etc)
@@deeg8849 That would be brilliant. The problem with the Stones, though, is that they never seem to do what their fans would like them to do. I guess that's part of their appeal, after all!
Well done remembrance of Charlie Watts. One of the best I have seen. Very much appreciated! Rest In Peace Charlie. A truly fine human being who lived a beautiful life. He made millions of people so joyful worldwide with his wonderful and accomplished great sustained skill for six decades! Well done, Charlie! Blessed and Dearly Beloved Kind Man. Deepest condolences to his Wife Shirley since 1964 and his Daughter Seraphina and extended Family.

It's hard to believe that in 59 years Charlie was only the second Stone to pass away. I guess that goes to show you that drugs and loud music just might be good for you. R.I.P. Charlie!
Sorry I'm late to this one, but I can pay tribute to the late, legendary Charlie and to Shirley, his beautiful wife of 57 years (1964-2021), who just passed away recently (1938-2022). Charlie was the beating heart of The Stones, my favorite rock band since childhood, and his and Shirley's love endured all those decades. Survived by their daughter Seraphina and granddaughter Charlotte.

This is the best tribute to Mr. Watts that could be created. Dignified and classy. That is Charlie Watts.
yes, I totally agree

Cool story. I think I read somewhere that the Stones were actually bigger than the Beatles in France.
@@YesterdaysPapers Quite possible. France being a sensuous land of extremes and all.
@@YesterdaysPapers The French just had to learn to speak English once the Beatles released Michelle.. and.. they love jazz!
