- Missouri State Prison. It was built in 1836 and lasted untill 2004. It was the oldest prison west of the Mississippi. This 47 acker prison was the Bloodiest in the entire state. You will see old and newer prison cells and buildings. Just imagine woking in that place? Hell I hated the place my self. Sometimes I wondered what am I doing here; (The Walls) day in and day out? Rapes, Assaults, Murders Etc. ? Done By DAB
When supermax was open,it was really bad,but they shut it down,and put check in over there.Then old check in became single man cells for G.P.
Very interesting video! Made me reflect on how far we have come and how much more we need to do still :)

This is an incredible place. You don't really get the feel of it by just watching the video. Being on the grounds brings it all home. I grew up in Rolla, and remember seeing "The Walls" when I would go on class trips to the capitol building or the governor's mansion. I thought it was a castle until someone explained to me that it was anything but. This weekend, I participated in an overnight paranormal investigation there. Anyone coming to the area should really consider visiting.

@chadcudi6104 that's...that's not proof of anything. Carbon is in literally EVERYTHING. If you paid attention to middle school science class, carbon is called "the building blocks of matter" because it is the most basic element that can be found in molecules of everything on earth. It has zippidee doo dah to do with "the souls of the anguished."
What a creepy place! It does look well run though,making them wear signs is different, a little fun for the guards,huh? Thanks for your dedication!

I did my many freakn years behind these walls of Missouri and grew up there from 1980 to 2000, I seen so much shit going on during my time there and also participated in some of it!
Until 1974 the Walls were segregated , most halls were single cell except B &C which were 2 man. People kept their cells clean and handled their business, it was a good place to get killed if you got out of line. Guards for the most part were old country boys that did their job and left inmates alone.
my husband was at the walls in the itc program there. Its really amazing what it looks like on the other side of the visiting room.

Want to say in advance, not trying to sound like a know it all. I've never been here, I was just wondering if there was footage from some other prison in here too. I've been to Bonne Terre, Boonville and Algoa, and I've been inside with some old heads, that have told me horror stories about this place. Fascinating. Good video!

Nice Video, My Grandpa worked at algoa when he was alive, my Uncle worked at the old wall Now hes at The new wall. Hes Been with DOC For 27 Years. I have many Friends with Doc God Bless Doc Officers, And our Armed Fores
yeah well your family most likely was part of the many problems that the inmates dealt with then as you say been working there for 27 years. I spent 1980-2000 there and it was (no words). I spent many years down in seg or the hole the original super max unit supposed to be escape proof until Larry Miller and cellmate escaped from one of the cells down there, I was down there at the time, early 80's.
@cjhyde78 I have been inside everyone of the housing units behind the walls. They was calling these housing units numbers later on. B & C housing units, etc. After it went tocorrectional centers in missouri they called them by numbers housing unit 2, 3, & 4 etc. I went in through H-Hall in 1980 Jefferson city, it was also called behind the walls not a correctional center like some kind of recreational play ground. Also we had wardens not superintendant's. anyway the prison was a joke and to be honest I still have not gotten used tobeing free and I have beenreleased since 2002. I feel I was supposed to die there with everyone else I knew allmy life. out here everyone is 2 faced.

In the late Summer of 1996 the Missouri State Prison had a Riot. There were over hundred officers that got hurt; and over fifty inmates also. Later that year, Warden D.Dormire and Major J.Eberle came up with a plan. There was still a lot of tension between officers and inmates. There was the problem with contraband at an all time high? The plan was to reinstate Search & Responce staff. A highly trained emergency response unit. These officers were (D. Bulone, J.Bays, S.Coulter, J.Glass, W.Green, W.Lonkauski) just to name a few.
I remember. I lived across the stree from the main prisoner gate ! Seamed like every 2-3 months, the neighborhood was on lock down because of an escape.
My grandfather was there for that riot since he was a diesel mechanic for CAT and he was the closest one so they sent him there for any repairs on any of the heavy diesel equipment.
I lived in Jeff city growing up, and i remember when one of the main walls fell down, it wasn’t much longer after that when they built a new prison and decommissioned this one, so I bet that had a big role in that.

Then crossroads in 05 and 12/12 my sentence out of Boonville in 09.

No problem. Did you work the walls? In our academy they came from the walls. Was it true on death row that inmates would hold their breaths in their cells cause they thought that if they did that they could survive?
@irishmo87 they actually did just have the ghost hunters there two weeks ago...i live 10 minutes away and encountered them while they were working there.
The areas from 4:05 to 4:35 or so... that wasnt from the old Walls as it? It looked awfully modern.
yes it was the new system behind the walls, I was there when they decided to try drug programs behind the walls that was supposed to assist prisoners in regaining their freedom if they succeeded these programs. I was not a drug convict so I did not receive this program. But it was behind the walls! The program made convicts do things to prove that they was ready to stop their crimes (in the drug world), personally, I was one of the dangerous offenders.
Old death row is in the basement of 3 house,its the hole now.
Unfortunately I was incarcerated at (the walls) and it was a very dark and almost scary place just because it was no secret that many have died at the end of a knife.....(shank) shiv (piece of steal) but the one thing that gets me is the ghost hunting.. Hahaha
ghosts are not possible-
one can admit when they step into such a place that you can feel the presence of darkness and evil but that comes with the knowledge of knowing so much killing took place there...
For all those hunting ghosts I gotta share-
make no mistake about it either-
of the 15 years I served inside prisons- 13 of those years I was violent and hate filled- I am far from being a Bible thumper and sure didnt get inside and try to hide behind a bible 9those of us who did time in any real prisons know that is not possible anyways..
but- this is TRUTH about ghosts

My brother, and a whole lot of friends did time there. I lived across the street from the main prisoner gate for awhile. I took a tour through there in the 80's as part of a scared straight program, but I didn't need, or know it till some lifers where brought into a small room with us. I was older than the rest, and thought it was a chance to see inside. I remember the geese, or ducks in the main yard, on the way to the gas chamber.
I grew up in jeff city. We used to fuck with the guards in the towers as teens, and sometimes they fucked with us back in the late 70's, early 80's.

I did time there,it was called the bloodiest 47 acres in America, but other than being locked down in 5 c it was easy time,the co's didn't mess with you for petty stuff. Walking past the gas chamber all day sucked...it's by the baseball field, and the skating ring.
